We have a great community here, a sane and relatively civil one where differences of opinion are welcome and people can debate with facts or memes, and we'll continue to rebuild into this new and exciting gaming generation of teraflops, SSDs, ray tracing, and VR.

web forums are on the way out everywhere and so the trends is just 1 or 2 surviving and so these tend to aggregate forum fans from extinct forums. It's exactly what happened to me,

I knew about NeoGAf and the rift that caused the creation of that leftist other forum. I came here out of options in a world where leftist Nazis are moderators everywhere and they dictate who can have any voice in a discussion... hopefully not like that here

Must say that I switch between the 'other' site but Neogaf is always my first point of call and these days I'm finding myself flicking over less frequently. The site is easier to browse and read. Makes a big difference.

I've lurked here since early on, but only set up an account and started posting in late 2018. If I had been a member before the exodus I'm sure my account wouldn't still exist.

There are few places left on the internet where I can make a bad joke or have a confrontational opinion and not worry about getting banned over it. If things get taken too far, the trash still gets taken out, but there is a lot more freedom to speak plainly here than most sites.

I'm from H-Town, so keen for this launch, i've never had job in previous console launches, so I can finally buy a console day 1

There is something called "opposition reflex". This relates to people pulling back against things when they are pushed in the opposite direction.
Because the Ree types have been so extreme in their actions and words, there is an equal and opposite reaction to it.
But, you have to look at who is attacking who first, and then who is taking action to silence the other.
Just take the "non-white pandering" you talked about.
White people arnt changing movies that were initially black like "Shaft", "Look who coming to dinner", "Black Panther" etc and remaking them staring white actors, or womens movies and recasting them with men.
Yet the other is not true.
Talk about appropriation.
If a white person has dreadlocks or braids they are deemed to be culturally approptlriating black culture. Yet in reality, Vikings wore dreadlocks and braids before African Americans were.
Of course there is going to be push back. But if you dont like the push back, dont do the pushing in the first place.

Maybe you've already done this, but scroll down to "Change Theme" at the bottom of the page on the lower left. There are two themes to choose from, each with a dark or light version. If you preferred the older look, try the classic theme.

I'd hope that new gaf would have the ability to better filter out that shit for the people who'd like to escape the politics

I think you're exaggerating a bit too much. We have people from all walks of life and political beliefs. Calling this place reverse-era only works if the opposite viewpoint was actively stomped out. If this place allows all points of view, it cannot be reverse-era.

Some people are having trouble with the term "echo-chamber".

ResetEra is an echo-chamber because uniformity of opinions is artificially enforced by moderation, which is happy to censor and ban anyone who dares to post dissenting views.

On the contrary, you are entirely free to post comments that go against the grain in NeoGAF's Politics section, or in any other section for that matter. You won't be banned for it. You won't be reply-banned. Typically, you won't get a warning even.

Some people read through an entire thread filled with opinions they disagree with and yet they do not bother to offer their own points to refute. They then cheekily proceed to complain about how this or that thread or this or that section is an echo-chamber.

Come to terms with your own inability or unwillingness to take part in the debate before throwing accusations.

The politics section and a thread riddled with people deciding to pass on the PS5 because of the cast of protagonists Sony decided to showcase last Thursday, this section and this thread are not echo-chambers. You're free to chime in at any point. The perception of uniformity is a direct result of your silence, not of any administrative measure to have it so.

Freedom makes no promises as to the kind of posts you'll get. The superiority of freedom over tyranny is not that it will automatically sift out the foolish takes, the stupid remarks or the blind tribalism. No. On the contrary. Lousy posts are one of the small prices you'll have to pay.

It's been a long strange trip for me. In May of this year, I hit the 15 year member mark. I was banned for a chunk of that by a former mod now serving prison time (Amir0x)(human trash)so even though I was banned when this place spiraled out of control, burned to the ground, and reawoke from the ashes, I visited everyday to read what was happening.

One day I reached out to EviLore after the exodus, explained what happened after many years,(perm'd for poking fun at the mod who banned me, you know, the one in prison) and he reinstated me. Evilore even reinstated my old username and everything. I never joined the insane asylum, but really enjoyed watching that places quick decent into madness, and watching GAF rebuild itself back, and I may add, better then it's ever been.

So glad to see actual opinions and even more so the ones I don't agree with as it means actual conversation can take place without fear of being blown up for not feeling the right way.

Cheers to Evil for sticking with it, and I wish you even greater success in the future.
