Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales : Screenshot PS5

It looks nice, but you can't really tell much from that. Many current-gen games have very high quality main character models. It's the overall scene detail and 60fps that would be jaw dropping so let's see some gameplay next time.

Halo 2 was 9 hours....

Spider-man PS4 was 20 hours... more for platinum.

10 hours plus maybe 10 to 15 hours for completionists is loads. It can still have expansions.

Remove the pointless Easter egg hunts for the obsessive compulsive from the length and what you have is an 8 hour game. Silly to compare Morales to Halo 2 one of the most famous/successful multiplayer games of all time alongside its 9 hour campaign.

Well Hellblade is 7 hours... must not be worth the asking price. Heard the combat in that wasn't up to much either.... so are you going to give that a pass but not SM:MM?

Looks good! But I won't get excited about it until I see it in motion. Things can always change, I remember they even changed with the game on PS4. Albeit ever so slightly.

Never bothered with Hellblade. Maybe I will play it on gamepass once they finalize a release date for the second. As fas a Morales is concerned I will catch it for $20 or less on a black friday when I pick up a PS5 in 2022/2023

I would rather have day/night missions.

I am tired at the "irrellevant vs annoying" constant passing of time in open worlds

I'm seeking realism in games mainly realistic lighting in the worlds. Essentially dynamic environments. In order to achieve realistic lighting I need a passage of time. Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2, and Metro Exodus all understand this. Insomniac have their priorities in places that dont interest me like hyper focus on character models.

I gotta admit, I'm not seeing the difference here

The character is much more detailed in Miles and the light is much more accurate and natural making the all scene much more grounded and real.. and what starts to make me go crazy is that it seems to have some kind of dynamic global illumination system in place.. but if it’s rt based it seems to me that it would be so expensive to properly run at 4K/30... if insomniac managed to pull something close to epic with lumen in addition to RT reflections this game will look gorgeous.. my eyes are not ready..

wasn’t hellblade like $30? Also not holding up a console launch?

Psst. HD Ports are always a full generation ahead. They port a game to the next generation and add graphical effects, improve resolution and sometimes even redo character models.

Like halo? Oh, nevermind.

We don't know price or anything and there a re quite a few other games launching at the same time... Death Loop, Kena and all the multiplats like COD and CP2077.

They still have stuff to announce.

I think this is a cool way to bridge the story to SM2, allowing people to have that huge IP at launch with awesome gameplay and the ray tracing etc. People love Spider-man just to swing around the city sometimes feels so good.

Looks amazing, that's just the model.......You can see the raytracing, the improved DOF, geometry and materials....Wait till you see the level of detail that is now present in the city whilst swinging....We got a glimpse from the first teaser and it's straight bonkers...

Looks good for a launch title, the ray tracing reflections and the higher rez textures on the ground are the obvious upgrades. Spiderman PS4 was one of my fav PS4 games so i can't wait to swing on the PS5 in 4K 60 with the dual sense controller. BTW here is a better comparison with actual reflections and black suit in all the different tod on PS4 Pro, the game still looks amazing and not too far off SM MM

I bet if they had told them this was Miles Morales most would have believed it.

Looks awesome, Insomniac (along with Sucker Punch) really look like joining the upper echelons of Sony's first party studios.

DF mentioned the increased density of NPCs in the short demo, and that along with the crazy loading times and 60fps mode could make a real difference from the last game.

I think this is how the 4K 60 mode would look like, SSR instead of ray traced reflections, more dense world and higher rez textures maybe.

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
They said it was half as long.

They never said half as long, they said the overall scope would be like Uncharted Lost Legacy which doesn't give the time to beat the game just that it's a smaller spinoff. The journalist gave a guess on how long it would take

And also keep in mind that this is an open world game

Yep, I wouldn't even mind if it was checkerboard 4K, it looks fantastic

I mean, it really doesn't look that great. Next-gen consoles are the disappointing gift that keeps on giving.

It might take a couple of years for these machines to start cranking out the visuals we were hoping to see immediately.

Common sense would look up the average play length of Lost Legacy and compare it to Spiderman PS4 length.

We're literally comparing screenshots of identical character models and animation, in the same city.

This is exactly what we'd see in a remaster / HD port announcement thread.

Sure it looks better, but it looks like a big DLC for the first game with some extra graphical effects thrown on top of what they already had. Basically exactly what everyone said.

By that criteria, all the Yakuza games are DLC.

It prob started off as spin off DLC for PS4 game but when they said Ratchet wouldn’t be ready for launch they pushed it to PS5 because it use same assets and could be done fast.

Its smaller scale and reused assets make the perfect get something out the fucking door game.

In Turk1993 shots vs the op I can’t hardly see a diffrence. Spider man was the Best game of this gen after all.

Can‘t wait for the proper sequel in a few year, gonna be amazing.

Next gen really does look pretty disappointing from what I’ve seen so far, from both sony and MS. Seems we’ve hit a graphic wall of sorts where now it’s just going to be things like lighting and reflections that are the main differences.

Like it looks very good, but I guess there’s no “holy shit” graphical leap from gen to gen like there has been with every generation so far. Was bound to happen eventually, was just hoping we weren’t there yet.

Because it's going to overall look like a 4k render of the original on PS4 with RT reflections. I've come to the conclusion that both companies are reluctant to show gameplay because it's not going to be the next-gen quality everyone is hoping for. But that's just me.
Yeah but most people can't tell the difference or care, so whatever it is the reception from the public will no doubt be positive. I just don't understand these marketing campaigns where they barely show anything until like the week before launch.
