The YLOD was the exact same overheating issue for the PS3 lol. They were both due to the new lead free solder having a lower melting temperature than the lead solder, so it was constantly melting and hardening, which led to it cracking and separating.

Night and day difference. But I'm not surprised you cannot see it.

It's great, but they need to fix the obvious "seam" every time a new world is entered.
Yes, obviously. As fast as the SSD is, it still can't load 12GB (or whatever) of data INSTANTLY. It takes two seconds or so.
So what you’re saying is that the same thing can be achieved on XSX, except these rift sequences would take an extra 1.5 seconds?
Sheeeit, who wants better ray tracing performance, machine learning and overall more power when you can have 1.5 seconds faster rift sequences.
So it would be at most 2-3 seconds instead of 1-1.5 seconds on Xbox. Amazing difference!

Ha, at least they can't say it's 1080p and struggling to hit 30fps on PS5. It also has raytracing on PS5 at 4K and uses the SSD extensively...watch out for 30fps blur comment incoming..

The SSD isn't a magic bullet, but it's much more than just faster loading too.

we need a unbiased VFXexpert hereto clarifyHave we confirmed that it wasn’t CGI?
xbox did that with gears and nobody cares, this is way betterSurely the best way to demo the ssd is just show spiderman load times on current and nextgen
Everyone will instantly see it (this will be the same for both consoles)
But they already did exactly thatSurely the best way to demo the ssd is just show spiderman load times on current and nextgen

I'm all for Sony Exclusives looking amazing and better than many Xbox Exclusives... however...
You can't compare a game on one system to nothing on another.
Ratchet and Clank has a very clean animation like/cartoon design, it is easier for it to look great.
In GOW they wanted to be able switch between the realms instantly, allowing for puzzles and different traversal options but couldn't do it due to the HDD limitationsUgh, i don't give a fuck about fast travel...i hope it's something more significant, maybe related to the gameplay.
Yeah let's jist hope it's something related to actual gameplay and not just for the spectacle. In GOW they wanted to be able switch between the realms instantly, allowing for puzzles and different traversal options but couldn't do it due to the HDD limitations
ah, thanks, exactly looked for that. There was something that was missing on Ratchet. The selfshadowing is totally missing. Maybe it is now correctly calculated via RT, but it takes a lot of depth from the character. E.g. around the eyes. But maybe that will change with the final game.Ps4 RnC

Nice oneThey are rifts apart.

But they already did exactly that
It did look smoother and no pop in for texturesI had an impression that the portal transitions were a bit faster than in the July event but haven't checked that yet.
When did they demo the SSD speed? I saw the game swapping demo but nothing about the actual speed of the drive. There won't be that kind of 1.5 seconds loading on XSX becaue the machine has not being made for this.
It's going to be 3 or 4 times slower on Xbox. People have forgotten but they already demoed their SSD speed. XBox will have the same loadings as current high end PCs, no more.
Again, I wasn't trying to shit post
Was for comparison
I think they have the same durationI had an impression that the portal transitions were a bit faster than in the July event but haven't checked that yet.

Damn, this sounds awesome. Now I want ND to do an Inception inspired game where you can transition to dreams within dreams instantly...... with crazy set-pieces.

Incredible Ratchet & Clank gameplay demo reveals PS5’s SSD difference
PS5 "launch window" game loads completely new environments almost instantly, and more.arstechnica.com
The new Sony console's first sales point is illustrated in the top gallery, though merely looking at the images misses a key part of the equation: miniscule load times between insanely complicated sequences.
where is the comparison?Where did I say I think it looks current gen?
I'll wait...................
Its a comparison pic, hold your shit together dude
where is the comparison?
thats not how this works. if you are making a comparison post you are supposed to compare two things. cant just post one thing and call it a comparison.Google.....?
no one is asking you to be blown away. the author of the article is pointing out stuff that he thinks can only be done on an SSD and they find it impressive.I’m sick of all this tbh. Now an “alternate reality” bubble opens on a screen and you pass through it and just because it’s a different level in supposed to be floored?
Look, neither console has shown anything truely next gen. Lets just be honest. That being said, these are launch window games, in a global pandemic with ppl working from home.
Just as always, the games will get better and better over time.
