If the PS5 is more expensive than 500 then Sony are in a real spot of trouble. It would indicate very poor judgment from them, targeting over 500 for a console when every 400 console has been hugely successful for them in the past. Aside from that, while the SSD is expensive, so is the XSX GPU (and that has a fairly pricey SSD as well) so it's hard to see where the extra expense is coming from. The only thing I can think of is the controller, in which case Sony would be well and truly insane to prioritise that.

However the idea that Sony absolutely can't take a loss on hardware is silly considering it's what they've always done. It's especially funny if it's coming from those whinging because of Sony spending big on securing timed exclusives...

Then they wasted this chicken game for nothing if they waited this long for Microsoft just to go higher.

isnt it because its not optimized for series x? like will PS4 games load in 2secs? wouldnt they need to still program for the advantages of the architectures

i really don't know, i just think they would of been better suited to find other games that have much better load times.
12 seconds is not a good look, not saying they should be dishonest here but i would of showed something with 3-4 seconds max, there are hundreds if not thousands of games on xbox game pass, there has to be hundreds of games with super-fast loads.

Am I the only one seeing an uncanny resemblance from the new Demon's Souls cover?

XSS spec talk + my speculation.
Now we got the know XSS specs. Before the grand release, I was thinking about the machine that was capable of doing next gen but with a 1440p resolution. A refresh of the XOX for users who don't have a 4K TV.
But now that I see the spec, it's not only turning down resolution. Memory bandwidth is lowered, but that will maybe be not a problem if it doesn't load the highest resolution textures (but Xbox never mentioned this).
But now my speculation about the GPU. 4TF is enough for 1440p or sometimes 4K. But turning down the CU count, as well as raytracing performance. Do we get to see less raytraced reflections / quality of ambient occlusion on the XSS? I mean resolution you can scale down, raytracing not so much I think. With calculating hitting surfaces and triangles you still need a X number of rays. More rays is less noise is better overall performance. But that's where my knowledge goes..

- CPU slightly slower (3.4 SMT/ 3.6 GHZ)
- RAM 224GB/S, 10GB, same speed over whole memory
- target: same experience with lower resolution (1440p), including hardware upscaling
- example loading level outer worlds: 12 secs, I expected faster here
- some next gen gameplay snippets (finally)
- velocity feedback 2.5 times more effective then raw, (2.4 * 2.5 = 6GB/s).

did I miss something?

Correction. It's not the whole RAM at the same bandwidth speed. 8 GB is 224 GB/s, 2 GB is LOOOOL 56 GB/s

As far as i know only 8GB of 10GB is 224GB/s, the remaining 2GB is 56GB/s.

Weird how it was Xbox fans that leaked this. Unless I'm missing something?
Sounded like a controlled leak, maybe to bait Sony on showing their hands and cutting off a bit from XSX.
No denial, just a shrug and "well... fine, guys".

They weren't playing chicken for so long to just have it leaked. MS needed this advantage IMO.

They have a lot of value with Gamepass, but if Sony prices it just a little lower and "heaven forbid", let PS5 have full BC, it will be over before it started.
Despite my nickname I still believe. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

"(after decompression via Kraken)". The PS5 can unpack data at a typical 8-9 GB/s utilizing Kraken for decompression, with a theoretical maximum rate of 22 GB/s. ...it better be fast...it is!! , no i mean with more game teasing and info! ffshake shony!

1440p = Lower quality assets and resolution require less bandwidth and memory. Also 4TF XSS is equivalent to 6TF on the XOX in regards to graphics, not to mention the immensely better CPU.
The thing that doesn't look good at all is Xbox One X having 12 GB of RAM at 326 GB/s for 'current' gen and XSS having having 8 GB at 224 GB/s (+2 GB at 56 GB/s) for 'next' gen.
