Cougar Stalks Man For 6 Minutes During Run

Good on him for not wanting to harm a wild animal but I'd have been armed with big rocks alright. Glad they're both safe. Brown pants day confirmed.

Interesting to see another animal use the tactic humans perfected for hunting, just stalk your prey until they're exhausted.

Idiot stops and walks a little towards in when there was good distance around the bend.

Also, it seems it was more a “get out of my territory” response. If the cougar were hunting, he would have already been taken out and not see it coming.

This is what keeps me from jogging in hiking trails. Fuck that noise.

Yep. I adore them for that ‘getting back to nature’/soul purified of modernity vibe, but it’s hard to ignore that I am completely, utterly defenseless. Something like this video is my worst nightmare. I really want to look into some extremely powerful animal mace like Irobot82 Irobot82 pointed out, if it works.

Doubt the cat was hunting, looked more like protective intimidation. He mentioned something about its babies (thought I saw a small cat at some point) and that’s what the behavior looked to be. Get out of my territory. Good thing as that cat could’ve seriously fucked him up.

Yeah and you can see a Cougar baby somewhere around the beginning. So it's definitely defending its offspring

While that seemed like an interesting video, i mean why would you keep filming? You are literally in a life or death situation, put the phone away, take your shirt off and wrap it around your arm to offer if the attack comes and hope to fuck you have a knife at least to survive.

Although i did laugh at the start when he said "fuck you dude" to the cat

Run with another person or carry something on you. Cougars are usually scared of loud noises and the FBI van.

Big cats aren't dogs. They not only have teeth that can tear into you easily they have claws.

If that happened in Norway, there'd be a team of about a hundred hunters, attack dogs, and helicopters out for the kill right now.

We're a hypocritical bunch of retards.

I wonder if throwing rocks at it, would have made the situation better or worse?

In general, throwing stuff is actually helpful. However i would resort to things like nearby treebranches or whatever stuff you have in your hand which is worth throwing. Bending over to pick up a rock significantly reduces your height which in turn could be a sign for the predator that you're weak and trigger an attack.

'Jeeves, hand me the nine iron!'.
'Excellent choice, sir.'

If a cougar really wanted to fight it wouldn't just follow you out in the open and make intimidating gestures like that, it pretty clearly just wanted to scare the guy off because of its cubs. In that situation I'm not sure throwing rocks would help, as maybe the cougar would then decide to fight.
That being said, picking up a rock at least to have on hand if the cougar did attack would probably be a good idea. Because if a cougar does attack you, you should fight back instead of running, and having a rock instead of your bare hands would be good. They aren't typically going to risk serious injury (or death) against an adult human male, which is why they generally only attack kids or women. If it thinks it isn't worth it, it will bail.

Wasn't that a cub right at the beginning when the video starts for real?
