I check era daily because I found it had more info and more people discussing games, I just stopped coming on this forum because last time I checked it looked a little dead to me.

Yeah the only thing I miss is having super active OTs for most games. That was the best part Gaf before the split and the best part of Era. Just not worth putting up with other BS over there. Here only the biggest games get active OTs, many games don’t get OTs at all—including some big games like Miles Morales.

I’ve mostly just accepted there’s just not always a great place to causally shoot the shit about every game I’m playing anymore. I visit here mostly for news, the OTs for big games I’m playing that have active ones, and random threads and just stay away from all the console warrior and SJW/other side BS that’s pretty prevalent and rarely look at Offtopic and never the other areas.

GAf is quite enjoyable for me that way and not spending nearly as much time in forums as Idid for most of the past 25 years or so is a good thing overall anyway.

You should see how the rest of the internet perceives Reset and GAF, e.g. on regular gaming subreddits. Reset is well-known as a haven for mentally ill extremists, and most people don't have a problem with GAF post-split.

Don’t have the time or motivation right now (work stress and health issues) and mostly fruitless outside of major releases as the few I see get made sink like a stone anyway.

As I’ve said before, they should really just drop the OT tradition of needing to sign up and make a first post with a lot of info. Keep it for the big releases where members want to sign up to make a fancy first post I suppose, but for other things just let members start an OT to chat about the game with no special first post.

If it were my site I’d consider scrapping Communites are that’s pretty slow and rebrand it Game OTs and Communities. Smaller game threads might get more activity if they could stay on a front page longer instead of immediately getting buried under game news and console warring threads. The non-gaming stuff in communities that’s active could just be moved to Off Topic.

Just my two cents on how to maybe get more OTs and more posts within them. The site is fine as is, would just be even better with more and more active game OTs.

Well, it's a fuzzy memory honestly for me so i'm pretty sure someone can better explain it but, at one point, before the split, I would say that GAF was much like a light version of Era, the ban hammer was out of control, discussions were choked out, etc.

The exodus seems to have been in the end, better for you guys than for Era. When you call for the gestapo to hunt down peoples based on political preferences, and go through their social medias to find dirt, you fucked up.

I think it started with Milo (the gay jew troll, not Peter Molyneux's weird thing), he had these provocative pictures of himself that used German WWII imagery, so people started calling him a nazi as a way to discredit him. The guy was an ass, but it doesn't make sense to call a jew a nazi. From there it gradually escalated to calling people nazis on even weaker grounds. They've called pewdiepie a nazi. GAF has plenty of people who are very anti-SJW, Trump voters etc. They don't know how to engage with that, so they simply resort to name calling.

It's a problem much bigger than Era. The loss of civil political discourse is really bad for democracy.
