Ghost Recon Breakpoint. I liked the game at launch, but its so much better now.
Dirt 5. Still trudging through the lengthy career.

ghost of tsushima: I was hoping I could just experiment with builds and blow through the story but of course they had to turn it into an utter grind fest and I'm again stuck having to wear the traveller's attire the whole time.

Geez. Well, I have a huge backlog and rarely only play one game at a time, but currently:

XSX: AC:Valhalla, Cyberpunk, Yakuza:LAD, Warhammer: Chaosbane, Crackdown 3 (campaign), Warhammer: Vermintide 2, (Hitman 3 later today).
Switch: Immortal: FR, Scott Pilgrim, Wingspan, Grindstone
PS4: lots of backlog but have focused more on XSX, but I need to get back into 13 Sentinels, Star Wars Squadrons

Started Persona 5 Royal - currently into mid-point of 2nd palace.

The game's mechanics is quite a bit different from the vanilla 5 - especially the flow of battles. For some reason, enemies seem to be quite strong against physical damages - so battles seem to drag out a bit. But on the positive side, you really get to plan each battle to do the "baton touch" and use the guns, but it has made a bit difficult to go into the negotiation phase in certain cases for me - mostly because I am trying to save SP. At first, I was a bit confused because it felt quite a bit different from how I was playing P4G and P5, and actually pretty struggled to finish the 1st palace in 1 day, mostly due to the fact due to SP shortage early on, and felt a bit discouraged how poorly I was performing against even low-level enemies.

But I think I understand the rhythm of the battle now a bit better... and I am having fun doing battles and trying out different tactics (not just finding out their weakness) - but at the same time, it slows down the pace of each battles and makes each palace feeling more dragged out - especially with new expansions and tweaks that were done in the palace. To be fair, though, that's because it's technically my 3rd playthru of the same story/castle as I platinummed the P5 already a couple years back - and albeit new elements and new areas are indeed nice - it's my own motivation. Would have loved to switch my brain with my pre-P5 brain. :D

And since I'm early the game, honestly the story is making me feel little bored because I know it already. To Atlus' credit, they did add quite a bit of tweaks here and there to add some meat to the story, or how the characters thought of certain incident more in depth - which I appreciate, but not quite enough to really made me feel adventurous all over again. However, to be fair, I don't think such feat is possible unless you re-write the whole thing from the start up... Also musically, while it's still excellent - not sure if I'm digging some of the newer ones like I did the original P5.

My biggest gripe for this game though, is its graphics. I remember P5 being one of the greatest looking game that I played - perhaps because it was one of my first game since my break from gaming for nearly 5-6 years - I was blew away by its UI and art direction. I am, still blown away by how stylishly it's laid out, but it's more about how it graphically performs on my PS5. Maybe because I was just playing nearly 250 hrs of DQ XI s on Game Pass, which gave me a good 60fps performance - perhaps I was expecting 60fps goodness on P5R as well. After all, P5 is a PS3 game... and the actual graphics, not the art style, reminded me of that. Certainly not the feeling I was expecting when I'm playing late PS4 game, to be honest. My eyes are getting used to going back down to 30fps... but I also have issues of its collision detection (like the ledges or laser traps etc) that are a bit too sensitive - as Joker tends to move in "strides".

Also what bothers me is its somewhat narrow FOV, that's also been narrower by the hazy/glitters. I did notice the same on P5, but it didn't bother me as much back then - but I wonder if they actually made it even more pronounced - or perhaps it's because it just feels that way, again, because I was playing DQ XIS - which offers quite clean screen throughout. I just wish that they could tone down that glitter just a bit (even though I know they are there to enhance the feel of "metaverse"), and perhaps widen the FOV, so that my movement doesn't feel inhibited... or at least give me an option to turn off some of the HUD elements which are so big and chunky - or make them smaller. Those takes up quite a bit of real estate in the game screen - especially in the palace - when I'm constantly looking for treasures to loot.

But already logged in already a couple dozen hours into the game, in just few days I've been playing it. :D So far my encounter with the new characters have been nothing more than formal introduction - looking forward to playing their stories... as well as the slew of new challenges and things to fill out. (like the thieves den, etc - which I haven't really touched at all..)

Daymare 1998 - PS4
Dragon Quest 11 - PS4
Skyward Sword - Wii U
Xenoblade Chronicles X - Wii U

Mostly focused on Daymare cause I'm doing a playthrough for my YouTube channel. Need to get back to Skyward Sword though, probably 3/5 through and was actually really enjoying it this time around. DQ11 is an absolute blast, XBX is mostly level grinding. That game is going to take years to finish but I don't mind.

Finished up Tell Me Why the other day. Really enjoyed it. Posted some thoughts here that I won't repeat.

Gears 5 Hivebusters--played through the first 3 chapters, getting all upgrades and collectible so far. Loving it, as expected as I've loved all the Gears games (haven't played Tactics yet, but have it installed via Gamepass to give it a try despite not being a fan of that genre). Hivebusters is easily the most next gen looking games I've played so far. Sound is great with the Atmos for Headphones app and my Arctis 7x headset as well.

Luigi's Mansion 3-played through floor 11 the other day. Playing through a floor here and there until I finish it off. Mostly enjoying it, but doubt I'll go back for boos and missed collectibles.

Streets of Rage 4-not a big fan of beat'em ups, but this looks nice and is pretty fun. Not sure if I'll finish it, probably definitely not on normal as I don't care to really learn the combos etc.

Forza Horizon 4-need to get back to playing this in bursts. It fell off when I was focused on finishing up Cyberpunk and I haven't fired it back up yet.

Bugsnax-Downloaded it mostly to have something to play on PS5. Seems charming enough, but not sure I'll see it through.

Outer Wilds--another I need to get back to, doubt I'll finish it without a walkthrough as I'm not a big fan of puzzle games/piecing things together. But I'm interested enough from what I've played to want to keep exploring a while and then look up things to finish if needed.

Finished my 2nd melee street kid run with Cyberpunk 2077, will continue with a 3rd corpo run once all updates and DLCs are out. Great game, great setting, great stories.

I needed more RPG-ish stuff to sink my teeth into, so I created a new character in Warframe to start fresh and get used to the mechanics again, been ages since last time I played it, lots of things changed, new intro, new tutorial, even an entirely new planet.

After completing the 360 version of SC Double Agent a few days ago I booted the original Xbox version.

Damn, the difference is like day and night. Montreals version is superior in every way imangionable aside from the graphics. This is the true sequel to Chaos Theory and not that mediocre next gen version.

Cyberpunk and Jedi Fallen Order

Was loving Cyberpunk, but I'm waiting to continue it after the patch due to release this week

So while I wait, I'm playing Star Wars. And It's pretty good, but it has some technical issues (stutteries here and there) and some really strange map design

Got lost a lot of times, unfortunately. But the 3D map is very useful.

Very refreshing to see a singleplayer game like this from EA. Especialy one that seems to have had a decent budget for its making.

Just finished hitting max level with the AUG in COD Cold War.
Thinking about whether I want to buy Skyrim Special Edition since it's on sale and I can carry over my save from the original version.

GAF's Resident Saturn Omnibus
I've been putting in a lot of time with the Just Dance series this month, working on my personal goal of reaching 165 lbs. by the end of this month (only a couple pounds to go). I've always been a fan ever since the original on Nintendo Wii, and that's always my go-to for a quick aerobics workout. It also happens to be my favorite entry in the series because it has all the best songs. I also have great affection for Just Dance 2, which is also packed with wonderfully diverse music.

I do have the newest edition, JD 2021 on Switch, and it's great to see the series is still going strong and keeping its lighthearted sense of fun. My only beef is that the pop songs are terrible, but that's because I'm 47 years old. If you enjoy contemporary pop hits, then you'll have a great time. Personally, I'm really just here for Surfin' Bird and MC Hammer.

I scored a stack of Sega Saturn sports games in December, including Konami's J. League Striker that was released in 1998, a few months before Pro Evolution was released on Playstation. Think of it as the final arcade-style entry in the beloved soccer series, before it became a hardcore sim. If you're a fan of International Superstar Soccer on Genesis and Super NES, you'll love the Saturn title. It's great fun and highly polished, which was very surprising for me. I didn't expect Konami to put in the effort that late in Saturn's life and I'm quite impressed.

Finally, I'm still working through my assigned Nintendo 64 games for the upcoming book project. It's a bit of a slog because, honestly, most of these games I'm playing aren't very good, and there's really not much to say beyond that. That said, I will freely admit that World Driver Championship is a pleasant surprise, and if you're looking for a simulation racer on the system, you can't go wrong with that one.

God, I love Tactics Ogre. Lost count of how many times I've played through it over the years, but it's just always so good to come back to. Actually made a lot of progress through the Palace of the Dead the last playthrough, but wanted to start afresh again. So nice...

Still looks so good on PSP, too!

Just finished Astro’s Playroom. Honestly one of the best and most charming games I’ve ever played. A full length game of that sort would have been the definitive killer launch PS5 title.

Going to try and finally finish Spider-Man Miles Morales now and then maybe the Call of Duty Cold War campaign but so far that seems rather dull.

Been trying Star Wars: Squadrons on VR (PC) and holy fuck, amazing. I was also surprised of not ending up puking after the session, guess playing seated helps with motion sickness.

As someone who beat every part of the Mass Effect trilogy twice on 360, I decided never to touch Andromeda after things I've seen on youtube and pretend it doesn't exist.

I always thought it looked absolutely horrible in every possible way.

Yesterday I was browsing through game pass and thought, maybe there is a chance this was another case of youtube vitriol and it's not that bad after they patched the bugs?

Well, no. That was a mistake. The internet was right. Made it past the prologue, haven't seen any bugs. Uninstalled.

Currently playing code vein and immortal fenix rising. I do like code vein but it is a bit limited in its open world elements. Its mostly just go down this path or some other path but I like the design of the world's characters. I played immortal fenix rising to, a little past when you get to the real of the gods? I just can't seem to get in to the gameplay but maybe leveling up a bit more will make the games attack skills be a bit more interesting.

Played through the Hivebusters DLC for Gears 5 and really enjoyed it. Most next gen looking game I’ve played so far. Base game looks really good too. MS did a good job with the upgrades for it and Forza Horizon 4.

Getting to that, also got back to Forza Horizon 4 and played a few hours yesteady. I hadn’t realized before that you can play Spotify in game and use the quick menu to set the balance between music and game audio. Pretty nifty for games like that were you have an in-game radio playing and can sub in your own music. Game is a ton of fun.

Finished up the story mode in Streets of Rage 4 yesterday as well. Not a big beat’em up fan, but this was pretty fun. Figured early on I’d have to drop difficulty, but wasn’t bad at all once I got the hang of it and started playing as Cherry. Beat stages 3-12 in one sitting yesterday and didn’t get a game over until a couple on stage 12. Turned on a couple of the assisrt’s to get more lives to get through the final boss I kept dying at.

Started up Night in the Woods and have played for 2-3 hours and really liking that so far.

So, along with playing through Tell Me Why earlier, I’m mostly just sticking to my plan of knocking out some shorter games on Gamepass and getting back to FH4 after 64+ hours of Cyberpunk. Will probably keep that up for a bit and start up either Doom Eternal or Gears Tactics when I want to dive into something longer.

Trying to get through Persona 5 Royal before Strikers is released and also playing Genshin Impact, which I didn't think I'd like but I picked it up a couple of weeks ago and I'm totally hooked.

Persona 5 royal. First persona game I have played and I am enjoying it.

For me it's not close to being one of the best games ever as it is for some people, but still very good.

Also a bit of rogue company on ps4 and it's fun.

Sleeping Dogs

Fantastic game. Lively open-world, tons of things to see, awesome main character. Loving this game a lot. Glad I opted to play it again and finish it.

I keep forgetting I have to play this game. I started it on my X360 way back and was having fun but the Xbone released and I played some "next gen" games and forgot about it. I grabbed it on PC a few months ago, installed it, and forgot I'd done so. This game must be cursed.

What time is it?
120 Stars in Galaxy today. I decided to give some games another shot that I fell off of pretty quickly.

-Risk of Rain (PS4) - Got to the final boss on my second run. Still not sure how to feel about the game.
-Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Series X) - Just restarted. It's beyond stunning to look at.

Xenoblade Chronicles DE - Slow churning this one and exploring every crevice of this huge world to find all the secrets and loving it!

Nier Automata - Started on GamePass. Kinda not feeling the world or designs besides the main characters. I dunno seems jarring but not the best so far for me since I’ve seen so much praise (might be Platinums worst game for me so far). I’ll continue to play to see if it will click.

State Of Decay 2 - Just started. So far played with my brother and it’s cool I guess. Lots of survival options. Reminds of Last Day On Earth on iOS but bigger.

Playing Cyber Shadow right now. Love the game so far, unlike Jaffe who can't get past the first 15 min and like a cry baby complaining about the difficulty cuz he needs to actually learn enemy / boss patterns to get further into the game:messenger_grinning_smiling:

I mean, com-fuckin'-on dude, it's not even that hard and actually a lot of fun. Pretty much all similar 8/16bit games were more or less about learning enemy patterns. I can't believe someone who played original 8bit Ninja Gaiden games complaining about this stuff right now:messenger_grinning_squinting:

Wrapping up Dark Could on the PS4 right now. Just got the broken dagger glitch to work the other day and caught that god damn fish today so it should be a breeze to plat it from here on in.
