If the space action will be cheap, which it probably will be, then they better give it their all in the fight choreography. I don‘t wanna see choppy Snake Eyes bullshit.

The main actor is a 50-year old inexperienced actor on roles demanding extreme physicality.
Even Jackie or Donnie had issues at 50, its probably better you lower your expectations.

How will this even work?

While Spike looked and behaved like a slacker, he was an amazing fighter. That was his thing that people underestimated how good he was.

Might as well watch the original show. Personally I don’t see the point of live action versions of anime (or animated stuff in general) as it’s pretty much always worse than the original and is guaranteed to not have as much charm.

Oh well can’t wait for that one friend I have to pretend that he loved the original and gush about how amazing this new version looks.

Have you seen Netflix's "Iron Fist"? Somehow I don't think fight choreography is even listed on their audition sheets.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
TIL that John Cho is 49 years old. I probably should have known that, but in my head he was like late 30's AT MOST.

i wonder if any of them will bother to research the original show? seems like an episode a day wouldn't be hard to fit into your schedule, as im sure the excuse will be "i dont have time" or aka "im full of shit"

im not hating on the actors or costumes personally. its actually gives me a bit of hope that they will remain faithful to the original. but if the actors dont act like the characters they are portraying, then none of that matters. and thats what really has me concerned.

The problem with Faye imo isn't that it's different, it's that she doesn't look like what her character is meant to be at all.
She looks like a teenage girl in an edgy rebel phase.
Her outfit looks very childish.

Faye is a sexual character and I would rather have gotten something that was TOTALLY different and not the same at all but got that across.
Not something that makes her look like a child who's rebelling against her parents.

But per usual it just gets turned into '' misogynist anime fans ''.
I get that the original design is pretty silly in a live action take and wouldn't work very well.
But to me it's about getting the character across not how accurate it is.

My fantasy is that my girlfriend was actually a young high school girl.

She managed not to tear the shorts (she likely made herself) doing cart wheels and jump kicks while amateur cosplaying at an anime con... you would think a billion dollar company would be able afford tear proof costumes.

Also bonus IG https://www.instagram.com/kim_kine/

I actually think maybe they were worried she would look not as "athletic" as anime Fay does. Is it fat shaming that they made her cover up? I don't know what's going on, I can't keep up.

In all seriousness, if looks campy and certainly... different. It seems like they went for something that looks more like a self-aware comic book adaptation than necessarily something that resembles the cool element of Bebop. Colors and photography are definitely going for that, at least from the little we can see.

One thing's for sure: they love the reference material and there are many small details present even in the opening which show that. In fact, it almost seems like it was made for people that have already seen the show, honestly. I loved the fact Japanese and English have been entirely switched around, both in the credits and the scenes and even logo itself. This shows care.

I think it will be different and eccentric, and perhaps visually striking (perhaps in a kinda uncanny valley way), but I'm not sure whether I'll be good. I will wait and see.

I want nothing to do with this, I'm glad I don't have Netflix anymore.

I find myself remembering things I've said in the past, things like I wish gaming was more popular(the innocent idea of having more people to play and talk about my favorite hobby with), and how I wish some shows/movies would have continued, etc.

Now that these things are fact, I wish they hadn't happened. At least not on the level it has.

Now games are being made to hook everyone, damn if the game is actually good, as long as everyone can identify with it. Online gaming is full of content creators and BS like that, or 12 year olds still, and mobile games are too popular when they all suck (IMO).

Shows and movies(games too) I grew up with are being remade or brought back as a continuance and suck. Some games don't, but most of the movies/shows do. It does kind of hurt to see, not in a rage kind of way.....just a, "Geez...really?" kinda way.

You are Netflix’s core audience with this. People with no standards

still looks like a fan cosplay trailer

They knew they couldn’t top it, so they didn’t bother to try.

I can almost respect that

You can tell they are genuine fans of the original and I really want it to be good for the sake of an adaptation done right

If its bad its not because they've done a Death Note

But yeah there's a lot of cheesiness coming through here. The original was all style and not cheesy

I think the main issue is the direction just looks all off. The dramatic camera angles look like something from Kill Bill. Clean cut wardrobes. Characters looking directly into the camera. Spike doesn't seem to have that effortless style, in fact Cho just looks like he needs to take a dump

There's a casual elegance that the original had that I'm not sure they'll find

CG looks good at least.

Drawn characters convey more swagger in that intro and do poses that don't look as cool in live action.

It just comes off less energetic and some of the scenes there looked pretty cheap.
