God Of War coming to PC on January 14

IMO Sony will tarnish the Playstation Brand...
You couldn't pay me to game on a console and that's I believe is true for most pc gamers. The Sony brand will be just fine.

Anyway, game looks alright will check it out when it drops to around $20. The release is far too close to Total War Warhammer 3 for me to pay any serious attention to it, plus it's an old game.

Not to mention it’s essentially free for PS5 owners that sub for online play.

The differences that were apparent to me just from looking at this compressed vid:

-Higher quality shadows
-More shadows were being cast by the objects
-Tweaked AO implementation (which we officially now know as SSDO, GTAO)
-Better AF 16x
-Improved LOD on trees and some terrains
-Higher-res textures(?)

(?) might be down to checkerboard vs native res difference
Good to see Sony put in effort to take advantage of PC's better specs. PC gamers are in luck as more PS ports should be ramping up as they play catch up porting their back log. GOW Jan 14 and UC4/LL is "early 2022", so these two games might only be a couple months apart.

And no doubt there will be more later on in 2022. I'll estimate two more in the back half of 2022.

I was just somewhat surprised sony have beat ms to this. I havn't expected ms to use it because their consoles get nothing out of it, and I even had less expectations that sony would use it.

As for being beneficial the way hardware availability/price is at the moment there are probably still alot of people on 2060/2070 cards that could benefit from dlss in any new title, even in something like halo or forza. It would help higher end cards on 4k displays aswell a 3080 could just maintain 60 at ultra in the halo infinite beta, if the campaign dials up the visuals at all dlss could be handy there for example. A 3080 can't do flight sim at 4k native 60 either, over cities you can hit 100% gpu utilization at around 45fps but I guess I need to see what the dx12 patch brings there.
Someone speculated that it could be Nvidia who approached Sony to implement DLSS on it as a way to advertise their product line. The game was voted best of the generation and probably Nvidia wanted to stick it's name to it.

So Horizon is the only one so far.

How many playstation games we got on PC so far?

Horizon
Days Gone
Does Death Stranding Count?
God Of War

Is GoW going to be on Epic?
I checked and the Nathan Drake collection will be on EPIC, Steam, etc. But they are omitting GOG for some reason. I guess sales for Horizon weren't great there?

Im selling my ps5. Im 100% investing in pc now.

Consoles are not worth it.

There is absolutely no reason for me to have ps5.

Even though i think the pc experience has been very disappointing and underwhelming and overated by the pc crowd.. I think the traditional console experience is vastly superior to pc.

But current consoles are not.

Consoles offers nothing anymore:

No exclusives.
All games including firstparty software are developed like crappy multiplatform games, no tight bespoke games.
No legacy support.
Physical releases with half functioning games on disc.
Non trustworthy digital distribution. where you don't know if your games exist tomorrow, and your whole collection could be banned on a whim.
Expensive as fuck digital games.

Pc has a better offer:

All games from all platforms, in their best suit.
Trustworthy digital distribution and legacy support such as steam.
Cheap digital games.

And this is why people like Bryank75 Bryank75 hates it when people bring up this subject. It's because of people like you....... And I'm not sure if I really believe you.

You don't think they are good, yet 20 million people bought it. People want the new and shiny thing as soon as possible. Besides those few loudmouth PC zealots sitting in their basement, counting the days (for 4 years) when a console game gets ported.

They are testing the waters.
PC gamers don't give a fuck about any console Xbox or PlayStation or Nintendo they play for on a PC for a reason and is the exactly opposite of the console gamer reasons

Not sure this is going to have the intended effect Sony is hoping for. The thinking is "get PC players hooked on our IP so they go buy a Playstation so they can play the games earlier" right? Or am I missing it?
I do think you are missing it. Lots of people here think thats the intent, but personally i believe thats just a side effect of sony future's strategy of going multimedia.

They might not buy a playstation to play the next gow as soon as they can, but they might go watch a possible future gow movie. By the same token, someone who goes to watch uncharted on theaters might buy U4&LL on steam if they dont own a ps console.

There's also the perspective of them targeting third world markets.

Its asia market and nothing else. PC gamers won't buy a PS5 if they didn't buy a PS4 for there ip's. its that simple. They don't even move off from steam when a game releases on another client

Sell a 60 dollar game on PC to sell a 12 dollar movie ticket? And then try to get their luxury entertainment items into third world markets? ... 🤷‍♂️

Out of the top 20 sellers on steam. Some people are really over estimating how much pc gamers care about Sony exclusives.

So far none of these Sony games has been even remotely close to a hit.

Movies do make millions regardless of ticket costs.

And third world markets can bring in quite a lot of profits if you know how to approach them. One such way would be by putting their games on PC and maybe mobile considering these platforms tend to be far more popular in such places.

You don't have to believe me either, you can believe sony instead. From a presentation they did to investors:

I cannot believe this garbage. People in Brazil are complaining formally against Sony that they violated consumer's code due to "false advertising", since the game is not "only in playstation" as per the label. Some might attempt legal action.

I didn't find a link in English yet, sorry.

"Whaat, no bruh, can't have that, false advertising, I'll sue Microsoft bruh, they're hurting the consumer".

Imagine being a judge and your next case is "this gaming company is being sued because they had a game that you could only play on one console, and now you can also play in PC".

Does anyone still think this was a typo?

Just a matter of time now!
It would have said not available on PC for a limited time

I can see it coming but that was definitely an error at the time. Its definitely not coming to other consoles at a later date so the whole sentence makes no sense

If possible I'd like DF to bring back an old PC, something like FX 6300 and 7950 to put to rest the myth of pixie dust based console optimization that can make a ps4 perform like a I7 3770K +OG GTX Titan PC
they can't even do that for rdr 2, horizon zero dawn and many other 2017+ modern actual "nextgen" games that ps4 managed to run stable and fine

this test is all kinds of invalid in many games that are released after 2017 haha

the above fx 6300 + 760 rig will probably run god of war at 20 fps 900p lowest of low possible hilarious settings

just like how it runs the rdr 2

look at them textures and graphics. nothing like what I saw and played on actual PS4

and this gpu was supposedly way faster than ps4 and ps4 was seen equal to a 750ti

Probably not. Why would they be waiting? It would need major cut backs to work

And I'm pretty sure they don't refer to their own systems as "other consoles", they say "also on PS4"

Sony representatives have confirmed to Ars that this port is being "overseen" by its creators at Sony Santa Monica while otherwise handled by Jetpack Interactive, a port-focused studio based in Vancouver, BC. As this studio has never worked with Sony, we can't necessarily point to a track record that has us optimistic about this surpassing outsourced Sony PC ports like Horizon: Zero Dawn

That is not true.

I'm anticipating playing all Microsoft games to include FH5 and Halo Infinite on the PC. Additionally, I would rather Sony release day 1 exclusives on the PC so I don't have to choose between graphical performance or graphical fidelity.

Not sure why fellow latin Americans are such Sony fanboys. The piracy ridden PS1 and PS2 days that made the PS brand popular around here are long gone.

If anything id expect people to be happy about having games releasing in a more budget oriented platform like PC. Specially since PSN pricing and services are terrible in the region. But Playstation is like a second football club to support around here. Lots of drones...

In my region everyone got HZD from steam which was only 10 bucks. I got the same game on launch for full 60 bucks on PS4 PRO. Those who missed it got it later on steam.

not true my friend. I got ps4 pro for bloodborne and i keep an eye on consoles exclusives. Only issue is I game on PC mostly but for sony exclusive you need machine. I got gamepass as well so i can enjoy both MS and SONY exclusives. I have still my eyes on ps5 pro which might release in two or three years.

Cool, I never did play this game through yet, despite playing prior entries. I'm a couple hours into it on my PS5 and I bought a Steam code. I'm curious to load both and A/B compare directly.

Does this game have:

- Unskippable cut scenes
- Lots of extended "walking and talking" or "the gameplay is turned off" sections that are worse than unskippable cut scenes as you have to mindlessly move around?

Honest question; I'm sort of assuming it does but if it doesn't I will play it.

I just get it how some people feel negative about the game. It got so many great reviews. If you don’t like it that’s okay because of your personal taste, but doesn’t make the game bad. I personally don’t like many games which got high scores, but I don’t speak bad about them, because I know that it just depends on personal taste.

I am a father of 2 and I feel you can only really appreciate the game fully after you also have children.
