Played a bit on the XsX. So far I spent the most time trying to figure out what the hell am I doing, all the basics, after not touching the game for a year. What's all this stuff in my inventory? My perks are reset, 60 points to distribute... But how? I've had a build here... Melee + hacking. Melee sucks (learned too late) so rifles + hacking sounds like a plan. How did all this work? Going back at "meet hanako at embers" when the game is at its maximum complexity is pain man but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

I haven't seen any wonky behavior from npc's except one t-pose mid-combat. Still no real traffic and the fake one far-out made of sprites popping out as you get closer looks even more jarring now. But it runs fine and for sure looks nicer.

What the hell did they do with the driving mechanics?

Cars are floaty as hell, and pressing brake puts a car in insta-reverse. If you're driving at relatively slow speed you can't even park in a regular parking spot because if you try to slow down gradually it instantly puts the car in reverse.

So weird.

Just bought for the PS5. Gonna try it later today.
I’ve played the PS5 version for several hours now and not only have I enjoyed the game, but I haven’t encountered any bugs or issues at all. The dualsense features are used really well. I have to say that, after the disastrous launch (at least on consoles), this new update has made a massive difference. You can’t go wrong at that price.

Played an hour or so on XSX. Looks good but not as on PC even at 1080p, runs well, could hardly notice any stutter at all, I’m impressed. Aiming with a controller sucks though, died once even on the first real shoot out before Dorsett in the tub. Back to PC it is.

yeh. why is nobody else talking about this. I felt like Austin Powers driving the luggage cart when i was just trying to park.

As evidenced by many posts in this thread, you can't change a first impression and - for some - no matter what CDPR does there will always be sour grapes. I bought this day 1 on PS4 and held off playing it when I heard just how badly it ran on last-gen consoles, I didn't want my impression of the game to be forever tainted (and I get it, I would have been pissed off playing a broken mess too). Finally jumped in to the PS5 version last night and, so far, the game is fucking awesome!

First off the game is gorgeous on my OLED (turn off motion blur, film grain and CA, thank me later), don't know what all this "washed-out" talk is about, for me the picture is mighty impressive. Performance mode is rock solid. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, Perf>>>>> everything else. I started my story in Night City as a bad-ass Corpo bitch. Flying to the first mission past all the glowing neon of the metropolis gave me Rapture vibes and a feeling that I was in for something special.

This game is *slick* (except for the one occassion when an NPC walked through furniture lol). The whole vibe and presentation is cool and invigorating, the world and it's characters immediately had me hooked. Dualsense implementation is on point so for those with both consoles there really should be no contest over which you choose to play it on, just shooting the starting handgun feels so damn good. I really shouldn't have started this before Elden Ring because once that drops everything else is getting shelved for a while. Still, I'll make the most of the next week and once I *am* done with Elden Ring I'll be jumping right back in. I'll save my ultimate verdict for when I've actually played through it's entirety but man, I'm loving everything about it so far.

Yes, it is basically the PC experience with less fancy ray tracing.

The default aim controls have pretty bad aim acceleration, I spent about 10 mins tweaking it, now it feels more responsive and less heavy.

Fidelity mode for when you want to just walk around the city admiring how incredible it looks and perform anytime there is action and combat. It's a pain to have to go into settings and toggle between the two but the solution they came up with is pretty good.

There does seem to be some extra input lag in the RT mode as well as the RT reflections being pretty low res. There is some artifacting going on on reflective surfaces that might be interfering with the RT? Kinda like the artifacting you see in RE2 remake whenever SSR is used? Could that be turned on and interfering with the RT reflections? Just throwing that out there

Game looks great on PS5. Way sharped than when it launched.

Will eventually get around to this.

But it is kinda disappointing they have this amazing city that is....mostly window dressing. Can't wait until we get next gen games where you can actually explore interiors of all the buildings. I would rather devs sacrifice city scale for the ability to explore these amazing looking buildings and towers freely.

Yep, these devs really suck at controller aim. It was the same with Witcher III. Garbage with controllers.

That's good to hear. I didn't get a chance this evening to give it a go. Maybe in the morning! The price is definitely a good deal. Plus I already had £16 sitting on my PSN account that I had completely forgotten about...so yea only needed £5 more :)

Were you playing on the RT or 60fps mode?

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
The fact that you can fuck it up to the level they did, and then fix it later and basically get away with it is outrageous to me..

I know it's old fashioned, but if it's not ready don't release it.

I initially bought this at launch, and then refunded it a week or so later after encountering bugs & aiming issues (Series X version). I also wanted to hold out for the next gen patch. I also remember being really un-impressed with the NPCs in the game, there were so many carbon copies that all appeared to just wander in the same direction.

Downloaded the trial and gave that a good go last night. Have still encountered some bugs (had a table clip and fly around the room) however the experience I had back in 2020 has largely improved. Controller still sucks for aiming down sights, was really hoping they'd fix that, but overall I'm enjoying the experience. There also seem to be a tonne of QoL improvements, especially to the world map which drove me nuts at launch.

Noticing NPC variety are massively improved. They also look to have bumped the total NPC count in the maps, so the world feels much busier.

Anyway, went ahead and bought it! Definitely not the GotG contender I'd hoped it would be back before launch, but I'm satisfied enough with it and dropping $50 (AUD) on it makes it a solid purchase imo. Hopefully we see some updates to the controller movement later on.

IT wasn't the trial or the patch. It bricked while he was downloading. Meaning code wasn't run from the game.

Yet more examples that twitter is shit, and people don't read, and jump to conclusions.
oh thank god a nd lol sucks to be him.

I dont think they got away with it. Sure they sold millions of copies on release but the backlash was swift and hasn't really stopped. It's done permanent damage to their reputation as a studio.

The state of the game now should have been where it was on day one.

You've filled me with hope! Same boat as you, my day one disc version is still in its packaging, the PS5 download has finished and I'll be jumping in tomorrow evening. What a time to release the next gen version, just as Horizon and Elden are coming out! Cyberpunk is gonna go to the back of the queue...

Maybe i was expecting too much from the next gen version. Kinda dissappionted waited a year to play this and it just feels like a better performing version of the game. Shouldve just played it at launch on my series x.

Does your V still turn into a midget when driving certain vehicles in first person like the Aerondight? The camera was always so low, the car looks awesome but it was basically undriveable because I could never see over the goddamn steering wheel.
This is one of the things they fixed. View in cars feels higher/more zoomed out now.

already played to completion on pc but thought I'd give the ps5 trial a shot. Looks pretty good and had very few bugs compared to my pc run near launch. only weird thing that happened was jackie walking through my car. one superficial visual bug in 5 hours is very decent. performance is inconsistent at 60fps but very playable. aim on controller took tweeking (completely removed aim ramp up and raised base sens a bit).

man the dualsense feels great though. especially with a charge shotgun I found early on. the sense of heft and power with the haptics and adaptive triggers made it incredible to use. nice feedback for all the reload and charge animations too. all the guns have felt different and it really adds to the gunplay.

all in all felt a lot tighter as a package. will probably wait for a more substantial content drop before a full second playthrough but the improvements are encouraging. I think this is a decent jumping in point for series x and ps5 owners who haven't played it.

I played it for many hours yesterday on ps5. Lemme break it down for you: performance mode looks a bit crisper than the previous ps5 version did. If I had to guess it's now sticking close to 1440p. The main improvement I noticed was that the NPC count was fixed and possibly some settings were improved too although I wouldn't hang my hat on it. I did experience some dips to fps but nothing serious.
Fidelity rt mode is a real stunner now. But you will not want to use this mode for combat or shootouts, because the 30 fps combined with some added input lag is NOT FUN to play with the mix of fps and hacking mechanics. I hope cd project can do something to tighten up the controls in this mode. Play this mode to walk around the city when you just want to admire how awesome it looks but don't make it your main mode of play.

it's because it's actually just straight up ssr. No ray traced reflections for consoles. It looks better because the ssr goes from medium to high in fidelity (still half res). ssr is pretty noisy until you get to the ultra and psycho settings but it's a lot better after a patch a few months back.

They said they reset everyones stats because of overhauled system. Some stuff they removed, some they added so they giving a chance for everyone to readjust their build.

So Xbox series x or PS5 which version should I play
I have a series X and PS5 and personally for me, PS5 wins just for the controller because the Series X controller is just shit in comparison. I can't handle the feel and sound of the d-pad and face buttons compared to Dualsense. Clicky clacky bullshit. Unless you have an elite controller. And I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my controller because I hardly feel any feedback compared to Dualsense which also has the speaker to add to immersion.

I'm pretty sure graphically and performance wise they are exactly the same.

Nope i download the trial to see the Next gen Update and it is barely any difference still bugs and glitches still dumb NPC cops still spawn right behind you and the city is still on covid lockedown

The dualsense implementation is very heavy on the triggers. Vehicles have a lot of resistance on both accelerate and brake (R2/L2). I turned it off as its putting too much strain on those poor little resistance motors :(

Played Cyberpunk for the very first time on a PS5, so I dont have any expectations or benchmarks before patch 1.5. Played it on Performance mode, the Fidelity mode at 30 fps was just not feeling good to me. Its not even a smooth 30fps I felt. Graphics for the most part looks great, not the best. Environment looks really good, but the character models seem inconsistent, some look like plastic or low res, some are fine? I can look past that to be honest, its just not up to my expectation. My main gripe is the handling of the guns, it felt very loose. Its the only thing that's making me hesitant for a purchase now. Will probably wait for a sale only because Elden Ring is coming up.

There's no poll for it, but what I've gathered from this forum and youtube comments is that a majority of Series X owners would prefer to have their high resolution mode back instead of this new RT mode.
Would everyone agree with that?

i think my expectations for a patch 14 months in the making was reasonable. And this is lackluster to say the least. If they had just made it a stable 60, no bugs and fixed the controls to not feel so heavy and clunky. But they didn't even do that

This feels like a 2 month patch. Not a year in the making patch

only thing I noticed is with turn acceleration, it feels like after rotating a little bit you suddenly get a huge acceleration boost that feels a bit unnatural
This was driving me crazy as well, as I dont remember it playing like that at launch. You can disable it in the settings, but you have to toggle the "advanced options" to see it. Also, noticed that if you are toggling between performance mode and ray tracing, options like lens flare, motion blur, etc...are turned back on even if you have those option disabled. Toggling them off and on back to your preference will fix it though

I bought my current rig 15 months ago, more or less for this game. I mean, obviously, I planned to play other stuff on it, but I was most amped for Cyberpunk.

Then the game dropped, the reviews were shit, and I never even bought it.

Until yesterday. I figured, from what I've read, most of the people who've played it on PC enjoyed it, and this patch seems to be a really good foot forward for CDPR, so, fuck it. I'll roll the dice.

So far, I'm really glad I did. This game is pretty fucking impressive. Of course, I'm not going out of my way trying to break shit. I'm going slow and easy, trying to learn the game, and play by its rules, rather than expecting it to play by mine. I just finished the first 'braindance' and subsequent mission brief. Really, really cool shit.

So, yeah, I'm early in, just a few hours, but I'm really enjoying it so far. First impressions are very positive. (y)

I think you are playing the game the way it's meant to be played. It's not a rampage/mayhem simulator. I mean, even if I accidentally aim a gun at a ped i get the big "you are doing something illegal" warning pop up. My biggest gripe with the game is that non-lethal playstyles, is not at all given recognition in game by characters. No one cares.

PS5 version is looking and feeling really nice. Can't wait to jump in again. Will have to wait until after Horizon, and after I quit 2 hours into Elden Ring.

That sucks...they even make a point in the beginning of the game about non lethal takedown and all the ways you can do it. Are there at least missions or bounties that require you to "deliver" someone alive?
