Modern Warfare 3 (2023) - Beta Weekends

They will take feedback from beta and fix the spawns .. maps on the other hand are what they are. Plus there will be new original maps to come with these 16 I think? Or shortly after at season 1 maybe?

I mean this has been a reoccurring song and dance since Cod4. I don't think they'll fix them!
Nah I didn't have a problem in cold war.

A bad Spawn here and there will always happen. That's okay. This is the game purposely always deciding to put you in the middle or side of the map instead of back at your base

Maybe the map design of old isn't for me. Too many buildings, too many line of sights, too many doors, too many indoor spots, too many roofs lol. Feels like a mess. I much prefer the cleaner 3 lane map system, creates more of a flow and control to a map. The amount of clutter in these maps + spawns are a receipt for disaster.

I'll put a bit more time tomorrow, but sounds like another skip for me. Not necessarily a bad thing lol.

I have to realize that Sledgehammer and IW just don't do it for me. Whereas Treyarch still hasn't let me down, not even with the bo3 movement, or the bo4 specialist, or with cold war. Still better than these new MW rehash.

Xdefiant also was a lot of fun, hoping that comes out soon

I had bad spawns in Cold War pretty regularly.

Do they still have the moronic system where you have to unlock gun components by using other guns?
Yes that system is still present and it’s dumb

I had a few good games by my standards and was put into a lobby with a couple of guys running MP5s that just melted people and I loved it when I got to pick one up.

Sadly the average person can not have their gun kitted out like 5ths because to get the silencer they were using you had to get a sniper rifle to a certain level and that sniper rifle is locked in beta but those who bought it via a store bundle in MW2 had access to it and the attachments for the MP5 that people like myself can’t even get

As a 41 year in gaming terms geriatric at this point that sums modern day COD up for me, at launch I always enjoy them for a few weeks then the battle pass is released and the store goes into overdrive and everything goes downhill fast, this will likely go down like a lead ballon with the younger generation but give me the old days of a season pass with 3/4 map packs released over the year any day and keep the base game balanced, of course it will never happen because the youngsters seemingly love milking themselves off buying obscene amounts of COD points on pro guns and avatars and the like.

I'm 37 and I'm 100% with you. MW2 looked like it coulda been a good return to form for the first few months, now it's just clown skins and nicki fuckin' minaj running about. I love how CoD plays but I definitely don't enjoy how it looks anymore.

I couldn’t have said this any better myself. I absolutely despise modern COD for those very reasons. The first few weeks are good, then it all falls apart.

At 56 I am right there with you as COD just feels too hallow

For me still the only shooter that scratches that itch is Hell Let Loose

It’s 50 v 50 on massive maps and actually requires some tactics.

Its so open compared to COD which feels like a bunch of hummingbirds in a shoebox

New set of Twitch drops are enabled for basically watching an entire day of this game haha

Luckily i can just set this stuff to auto collect now and let it play in the background (Thanks Heisenberg!)

Thats a good analogy because like Fifa is what is selling like hotcakes so until sales go stale doubt they change much
Just like FIfa the do stuff that actively makes the game worse for the sake of engagement and of course MTX.

If they loosened up SBMM and sorted out the awful spawning system then i am 100% convinced this franchise would be even more successful than it already is. The actual game is quite fun.

I agree there is a fun game there at times

I don't understand their SBMM at all, it seems to swing from one extreme to the next way overshooting

I will take a game like Rocket League. I can have several good games as I am right on the borderline of Champion bracket (when I was playing a lot) and if I had several good games I would start seeing Grand Champs and would still be sort of competitive but would get knocked back to where I belong

In COD if I have 2 or 3 decent games I am put in lobbies of sweat try hard pro wannabes and I get steam rolled

I get steam rolled 3 maps or so and I am put into bot lobbies, there are very few middle ground lobbies

When I did get put into super sweat lobbies I feel bad for my team mates as I decide to take my lumps and practice quick scoping :)

This is just crazy.

I know its just a video game and the SMGs and ARs just feel good but to run around with a big boy sniper rifle and do this is sad (and this is coming from someone who owns a lot of guns and has fired a .50 cal sniper rifle)

idk why people are like mw2022 is better or mw 2023 is better. Its the same code lmao they just added minimap, classic perks, and adjusted movement. Its the same videogame.
The movement and weapon balancing, as well as maps are entirely different.

I find these types of comments very funny because you could very easily apply the same point to quite a few Nintendo games and people would flip their shit.

"idk why people say Super Mario 3D Land is better or 3D World is better. Its the same code they just added 4 player and changed some levels"

"idk why people say Splatoon is better than Splatoon 3. Its the same code they just added a few new paint guns and a single player"

Yea just because you don't play it/barely play it and know jack shit about it doesn't mean its exactly the same. It will forever be a stupid argument. There are a lot of differences usually between cod games, usually down to how the developer adjusts movement and map design to their vision. Treyarch games tend to have a healthy balance of aggressive and defensive play, Infinity Ward has super maze-like maps with awful flow that make them very defensive and slow, and Sledgehammer is all over the place. They almost never play the same at all. Now granted MWIII is reusing a shitload of assets from MWII, but this is the exception to the norm.

What do you think? Any good? I'm away from home just now so no access to the PS5 and will have to wait till next weekends open beta to make my own mind up........................................
I was very hard on it very early on 😂

But I'm having more fun with it. It's much better with objective modes and I'm starting to make sense of the maps. Spawns do need work.

Still early to tell but it's better than mw2

Naw, I have hundreds of hours in MW 2022 and “defensive and slow” is not how I would describe those maps at all. Its often a frantic rush experience, especially in launch maps like Farm and Dam. To me ‘slow’ would describe something like World at War; unless you on Castle or Dome those maps were such a slog. I never even bothered with the paid maps (thank god they dont do that shit anymore).

The shooting feel way different between this and mw2, this feels like advanced warfares shooting

Very true about Treyarch games

I have an incredible hatred for all futuristic CoD games so this is awful news. I guess it's not so bad since it's just some weapons and not jetpack/wallrunning shit.

I skipped AW so Im down for some lasers! The game tonally is already Fortnite, I dont play cod cuz of the milsim aspect.

as a fellow old i played cold war for a long time, i thought that game was fantastic, and mw2019 was great once they got a season or two in with some better maps.

I really don't think the issue is COD per se, it's that MW2 was a pile of trash and this is maybe MOTS.

Game feels good. I like the old mini map working as it should and I can build a nice stealth setup again.

Yes we are suckers for buying this tuned version of last years game but COD has the best feel of any shooter out there so I bought it again. I just wish they would shove their SBMM and disbanding lobbies up their asses.

Yeah this is the kinda shit that ends up ruining the game in the long run. Especially in a game with the TTK as high as this one. Why use an AR that takes 5 bullets when I can ADS nearly as quick and do you in 1 bullet?
But then you ever complain about it and all the zoomers and tryhards jump down your throat and try to convince you it's "sniping".
The glare from scopes needs to go as well, makes actually sniping pointless.

At first I was going to get this because of the 16 maps from MW2 but I actually still have the original mw2 so I think I’ll pass. Call of duty is like the iPhone of gaming - no need to buy the new model every year.

while what you say is true I get hundreds of hours of entertainment per year even if the version sucks
