Thankfully the casual audience knows well enough to separate the movies from the video games. That's because Marvel is not at their peak anymore. It's understandable that Marvel has saturated the market and people are like, yeah, I'm kinda burned out on superheroes.
I was replying to the too much Marvel I don't want it mentality and why people are burned out. Also, people love Insomniac so they prob want them to do new IPs.I'd agree with you if Spider-Man 2 didn't just break records for Sony.
Spider-Man 2 fastest-selling game made by PlayStation
The PlayStation 5 exclusive sold more than 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours.www.bbc.com
People may be tired of the MCU but that has nothing to do with the videogames, and outside of Batman and Spiderman there have been very few good superhero games and there's a very strong demand and want for good superhero games.
Haven't watched Invincible but I'm not gonna watch The Boys 4 because I am burned out of the same plot in every season.Thankfully the casual audience knows well enough to separate the movies from the video games.
Also if anyone here watches The Boys or Invincible guess what: you’re not burned out on Superhero movies and TV, you’re burned out on shitty movies and TV.
The Sony of old is gone unfortunately. If your project isn't a 3rd person action/adventure game with mass appeal, it's unlikely they will greenlight it.
I'm guessing it will be a smaller Miles Morales type game. An expansion of sorts.A Venom game out of nowhere coming before Wolverine?
Insomniac makes good games efficiently, but even they can churn out a game every year from 2025 to 2031 (except 2027)?
As for Insomniac being a Marvel and R&C studio, it makes sense. Once Sony locks in gaming franchises as key pillars, that studio will be churning them out forever.
Oh, really? If this roadmap sticks, then man the Insomniac of yesteryear is no more. They used to be such a creative and imaginative studio.
They could use a good shooter in general. Right now it’s a big weak spot for their portfolio. They should have asked Marvel for the rights to Punisher or something. They could use a first person shooter. Too bad they won't let Insomniac reboot Resistance.
Imo, yes. We're talking about the studio who made games like Spyro, Ratchet, Disruptor, and Resistance. The original pitch for Overstrike (Fuse) looked great until EA called for dramatic changes to it. They used to be far more original in their approach than... whatever this roadmap is indicating.Oh, really?
I guess it puts into perspective the reason Jim Ryan wanted to pivot the entire PlayStation catalogue of developers towards creating GAAS games. Games like Spiderman and God of War are becoming more costly as times moves on and the risk of getting your money back becomes unfathomable.
Honestly, I'm sick of this reboot/remake shit that's plaguing creative industries. It would be far more refreshing if Insomniac continued with a Resistance 4 from where the series left off over some reboot. They could use a first person shooter. Too bad they won't let Insomniac reboot Resistance.
Spyro was how many years ago? No one cares about or remembers Disruptor, and Resistance really isn't that inventive. It wasn't seen that way when it was coming out. As for Ratchet, they've been spamming that for most of their existence since the 2000s.Imo, yes. We're talking about the studio who made games like Spyro, Ratchet, Disruptor, and Resistance. The leaked footage is what you'd expect as well.3rd Person Action Thriller
Wide Linear and Story Driven
Such an untapped genre for Sony.
I have a feeling Blade will enter development hell and will never seeing the light of day along with the new Blade movie failing miserably. Time will tell.Balde against Spider-Man 3 in 2028?
ps2 ps3 era games come on bro. Give me all the dem marvel games.Imo, yes. We're talking about the studio who made games like Spyro, Ratchet, Disruptor, and Resistance. Bald-Man is my favorite.Balde against Spider-Man 3 in 2028?
Its kinda sad if you're saying this as an AAA dev.ps2 ps3 era games come on bro. Give me all the dem marvel games.
In late 2029...? It will be two years old by that point.
Whats the problem? how long has Nintendo been doing cutesy platformers?3rd Person Action Thriller
Wide Linear and Story Driven

Nintendo is creatively bankrupt! A platformer factory. /sWhats the problem? how long has Nintendo been doing cutesy platformers?
And go against GTA no wayThat's a long wait for Wolverine. They shouldn't bother with Venom and focus all their attention to Wolverine getting it out in 2025.
Games that look graphically similar =/= games that play extremely similar.Whats the problem? how long has Nintendo been doing cutesy platformers?
Still woth it since that was the game that spawned all their PS5 tools/engine/experience etc that they reused in later games. No wonder Ratchet's been put on the back burner for a while. It lost $8M...
Youve lost your head, Mario 1 through to what like 200? Donkey Kong? Pokemon - every colour under the sun.Games that look graphically similar =/= games that play extremely similar.
If this roadmap sticks, then man the Insomniac of yesteryear is no more. They used to be such a creative and imaginative studio. Its sad to see them become some Marvel games factory.
Whoever made this call at Sony ought to get a lot of flack.
The last original Donkey Kong game came out in 2014, maybe if they were releasing 1 a year like Insomniac people would care.Youve lost your head, Mario 1 through to what like 200? Donkey Kong? Pokemon - every colour under the sun.
Zelda, same core experience other than TOTK.
Plz
Spider-Man multiplayer game.
Spider-Man 3 revenue split for a two-part finale.
Clearly, some of us do. I don't get how some people use sales as a basis to determine what separates good creativity from bad either. Various great games through out gaming history didn't exactly manage to light the charts on fire.Spyro was how many years ago? No one cares about or remembers Disruptor, and Resistance really isn't that inventive. It wasn't seen that way when it was coming out. As for Ratchet, they've been spamming that for most of their existence since the 2000s.
No matter what, I will never really take it seriously when people bemoan the loss of "creativity" when said creativity doesn't sell.
They are asset flips. Venom is going to be a glorified dlc asset flip just like Spiderman 2 was. Which is why they can produce these so quickly.Damn, so Insomniac did turn into a Marvel games machine. The games will probably be good but it's not what I was expecting.
I was kinda hoping they were working on another IP while they were working on Wolverine, but I guess we'll have to wait 6 years for that.
You could apply your logic to Sony. The last original Donkey Kong game came out in 2014, maybe if they were releasing 1 a year like Insomniac people would care.
Yeah, every Mario game plays exactly the same, that’s why they are all lauded for their gameplay. Odyssey and Wonder, exact same thing.
Pokemon is made by Game Freak and each company own 33% of the Pokemon rights. They aren’t a first party studio.
Nintendo’s main pillars this gen: Splatoon, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, BotW/TotK, Animal Crossing and Mario Odyssey/Wonder. Variety in game play, complexity in mechanics.
Sony’s main pillars: TLoU, Horizon, GoW, Spider-Man, GoT. No variety in game play, no complexity in mechanics.
You want to look at those 2 lists and say Nintendo’s games all play the same, you do you - but it’s a deluded view.
Hey, that's great for you man. I would've preferred some originality from Insomniac, but apparently, that's too much these days. You must be fucking joking? Marvel is massive and the games Insomniac is creating are spectacular. Who else are going to make these games anyway? I'm glad your not in the board of directors if you gonna ignore this opertunity lol.
I'm also in for a new Resistance for sure, but atm, im not seeing it be succesfull or something. We might see a remake by some other studio between now and 5 years maybe?
As someone who is not into "capeshit", this looks fucking miserable.Marvel's Venom in Fall 2025
Marvel's Wolverine in Fall 2026
Marvel's Spider-Man 3 in Fall 2028
New Ratchet & Clank in Fall 2029
Marvel's X-Men in Fall 2030
New IP in 2031/2032
