Future Insomniac games leaked

That's because Marvel is not at their peak anymore. It's understandable that Marvel has saturated the market and people are like, yeah, I'm kinda burned out on superheroes.
Thankfully the casual audience knows well enough to separate the movies from the video games.

Also if anyone here watches The Boys or Invincible guess what: you’re not burned out on Superhero movies and TV, you’re burned out on shitty movies and TV.

I'd agree with you if Spider-Man 2 didn't just break records for Sony.

People may be tired of the MCU but that has nothing to do with the videogames, and outside of Batman and Spiderman there have been very few good superhero games and there's a very strong demand and want for good superhero games.
I was replying to the too much Marvel I don't want it mentality and why people are burned out. Also, people love Insomniac so they prob want them to do new IPs.

Also Spiderman is a huge IP, No Way Home is the only Marvel movie who broke a billion in recent memory, no?

We'll see how Wolverine and Blade do.

Still haven’t played any Insomniac game although I owned PS3, PS4, PS5.
Not a fan of Marvel nor platformer games either except reading a little bit of Spiderman and played DKC123 and other platformers as a kid.
I imagine Insomniac games are most popular in the US.

Haven't watched Invincible but I'm not gonna watch The Boys 4 because I am burned out of the same plot in every season.

A Venom game out of nowhere coming before Wolverine?

Insomniac makes good games efficiently, but even they can churn out a game every year from 2025 to 2031 (except 2027)?

As for Insomniac being a Marvel and R&C studio, it makes sense. Once Sony locks in gaming franchises as key pillars, that studio will be churning them out forever.

I'm guessing it will be a smaller Miles Morales type game. An expansion of sorts.

I guess it puts into perspective the reason Jim Ryan wanted to pivot the entire PlayStation catalogue of developers towards creating GAAS games. Games like Spiderman and God of War are becoming more costly as times moves on and the risk of getting your money back becomes unfathomable.

315 million for a spiderman 2 game that re uses a lot of assets and arguably while gorgeous 80 percent of the time, clearly shows its ps4 roots.

Game budgets are fucked.

So basically documents confirms what I feared...
Insomniac is basically "Marvel the Studio"

Sad. No new IP until at least 2033 and even that could be Marvel branded.

The game is called Wolverine but Jean Gray is a "protagonist". I'm now expecting to play half the game as Jean and of course they won't show you this in the trailer.

They could use a first person shooter. Too bad they won't let Insomniac reboot Resistance.
Honestly, I'm sick of this reboot/remake shit that's plaguing creative industries. It would be far more refreshing if Insomniac continued with a Resistance 4 from where the series left off over some reboot.

Imo, yes. We're talking about the studio who made games like Spyro, Ratchet, Disruptor, and Resistance. The original pitch for Overstrike (Fuse) looked great until EA called for dramatic changes to it. They used to be far more original in their approach than... whatever this roadmap is indicating.
Spyro was how many years ago? No one cares about or remembers Disruptor, and Resistance really isn't that inventive. It wasn't seen that way when it was coming out. As for Ratchet, they've been spamming that for most of their existence since the 2000s.

No matter what, I will never really take it seriously when people bemoan the loss of "creativity" when said creativity doesn't sell.

ps2 ps3 era games come on bro. Give me all the dem marvel games.

Obviously fair fucks to Insomniac that they found a formula that they can release games quickly but unfortunately for me I'm not too interested in all these Marvel games.

Like they are good but not exactly my favorites.

Spiderman online game cancelled too apparently.

That GAAS push by Sony/Jim has been a clusterfuck. Looking like mismanagement as a whole from Sony more than potentially the devs themselves.

If this roadmap sticks, then man the Insomniac of yesteryear is no more. They used to be such a creative and imaginative studio. Its sad to see them become some Marvel games factory.

Whoever made this call at Sony ought to get a lot of flack.

You must be fucking joking? Marvel is massive and the games Insomniac is creating are spectacular. Who else are going to make these games anyway? I'm glad your not in the board of directors if you gonna ignore this opertunity lol.

I'm also in for a new Resistance for sure, but atm, im not seeing it be succesfull or something. We might see a remake by some other studio between now and 5 years maybe?

Youve lost your head, Mario 1 through to what like 200? Donkey Kong? Pokemon - every colour under the sun.
Zelda, same core experience other than TOTK.

Plz
The last original Donkey Kong game came out in 2014, maybe if they were releasing 1 a year like Insomniac people would care.

Yeah, every Mario game plays exactly the same, that’s why they are all lauded for their gameplay. Odyssey and Wonder, exact same thing.

Pokemon is made by Game Freak and each company own 33% of the Pokemon rights. They aren’t a first party studio.

Nintendo’s main pillars this gen: Splatoon, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, BotW/TotK, Animal Crossing and Mario Odyssey/Wonder. Variety in game play, complexity in mechanics.

Sony’s main pillars: TLoU, Horizon, GoW, Spider-Man, GoT. No variety in game play, no complexity in mechanics.

You want to look at those 2 lists and say Nintendo’s games all play the same, you do you - but it’s a deluded view.

Gaming costs (dev and marketing) is a lot more than I thought. Unless these charts have lowball numbers, the profits arent that much given the top line sales. I would had thought they'd make more than ~$200M profit on $1.1B net sales.

Spider-Man multiplayer game.

Spider-Man 3 revenue split for a two-part finale.

Seen on Reddit the multiplayer title is cancelled based on the leaks.

Looks like Sony potentially mismanaged this GAAS push more than the devs themselves if this is another big one canned.

Clearly, some of us do. I don't get how some people use sales as a basis to determine what separates good creativity from bad either. Various great games through out gaming history didn't exactly manage to light the charts on fire.

You're obviously at liberty to think what you want, but personally I would've preferred it if Insomniac had adhered to original ideas over becoming some Marvel junkfood factory.

Damn, so Insomniac did turn into a Marvel games machine. The games will probably be good but it's not what I was expecting.
I was kinda hoping they were working on another IP while they were working on Wolverine, but I guess we'll have to wait 6 years for that.
They are asset flips. Venom is going to be a glorified dlc asset flip just like Spiderman 2 was. Which is why they can produce these so quickly.

You could apply your logic to Sony.
Why did you skip out on GT7 their biggest game?

Those games you listed do not play the same , that’s delusion. Spider man = God of war = Horizon = the last of us???

The only similarity is the point of view.

Give your head a wobble

Hey, that's great for you man. I would've preferred some originality from Insomniac, but apparently, that's too much these days.

That's a healthy list.

Venom will be like miles.

Then wolverine.

Spiderman 3 will probably be the last year of ps5 then they'll port it to ps6.

Ratchet surely Will be cross gen with ps6 unless they want to sacrifice profits for a show case.

The best part about this is they still plan to make a ratchet game. Even it it's 4 or 5 year's away. Sad that it's no longer sustainable to make 2 or 3 ratchet games per gen.

If Insomniac games have bigger budgets due to Marvel costs, that makes sense. Although none of us know detailed LOU or GOW budgets.

With such high game costs, that's probably why Sony jacked up sub fees around $20 per plan. The ballpark extra revenue generated assuming everyone stays is about $1B extra revenue per year which will right to the bottom line and help fund their AAA games. So the PR they spat out about sub plans going up in price to fund better PS+ services was obviously BS. it's not like the PS+ games have gotten better the past 3 months,
