For all the people in the Nintendo 3DS demo limit thread that claimed no one plays demos 30 times, welcome to the SSX demo. Gonna play this a lot.

I probably played the demo for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater featuring the warehouse 100+ times. I doubt I can top that with this SSX demo since the game comes out the following week.

If Ridernet is implemented well in the demo, I may lose a bunch of hours to it.

No deadly descent for Mt Fuji. So it's basically just DLC being included with the PS3 version in America and with both in Europe. I dont feel bad going 360 in the US now.

Dedication Through Light = Tristan?
Mind blown.

Also we got a shout out on the Live stream! (GAF community)

Yeah, I had no idea until last night!

Haha. I wasn't watching! Oh no! I simply cannot watch any more gameplay because my hype has reached critical mass. I need to play now.

Sleep Mode has been invented. Not saying it's not somewhat retarted, but usually these demos aren't released too much in advance of the game's release date, so if you liked a demo so much that you end up using up all your boot-ups within a week or two, just buy the game.

I've decided that this will be the first game I double-dip on. I don't even own a PS3, but I'll be using my roommate's PS3s for this.

There are just too many people on GAF and MerquryCity I can't not play with.

I've actually considered doing the same thing. :p I don't think I can do it though. $120 on one game is too much.

I managed to snag my 360 copy at $40 CAD because of an E3 promotion with FutureShop. I find it tough to justify too, but I really want to be able to play with everyone who's not on 360.

I'm also buying Binary Domain, Syndicate, and a bunch of other games this month, so I'm cringing, but SSX is one game that I feel double dipping will be worth it for. I finally understand why a lot of other GAFers do it for multiplatform games now, because they want to play with everyone from GAF and such.

I want to be able to play the game with my roommates as well, but none of them have 360s, so I'm happy to grab a PS3 copy for us to compete against each other on. c:

Sorry, but this argument is as stupid in this thread as it was in the other. There's absolutely no good gamer-centric reason to limit demos. It benefits us in no way. The SSX team knows this, which is why they built the demo in such a way as to ENCOURAGE gamers to play it over and over and over.

New Uber Monday video is up for Ty! Ty's Uber is off the fucking chain. I think I'll consider making him my second after Mac!

Also, here's last night's SSX Ubercast with Dedication Through Light, Alex, Philip (CharmyDweeng on Merq) and myself! It's 2.5 hours long and a re-cap and discussion of everything SSX for the past two weeks. We cover Elise and Moby's Uber Monday vids, the 6 Region Gameplay videos, the Todd Batty SSX Ubercast interview, and the Merq City exclusive Global Events video. Enjoy!

Having an iPhone has really ruined that stock alarm sound effect.

Haha. Too true. My roommate and landlord both have it as their ringtone.

Okay, dudes. I'm drinking a double espresso right now, so I don't know if it's my excitement or the caffeine, but my hands are shaking. Haha. I can barely focus on making the |OT| right now. I AM SO EXCITE.

Had the same problem when for years as a kid I'd play with that Microsoft Kids game, 3D Mover Maker. I started hearing stock sound effects in movies and games everywhere. Broke the magic so much.

Awww, how flattering :)

Ty's Uber is pretty sweet, love the part where he pops the board up with his foot at the start of it. I've been thinking of playing as him since he was announced (since he is basically replacing Viggo, my favorite from SSX3). This has confirmed it, along with that sweet ace of diamonds board.

I agree there's no reason to limit it, but with 3DS you have ways to get around that with the Sleep Mode. With the limits in mind, I'd just try to NOT close the demo if I don't absolutely have to (like wanting to check out something in the eShop or Swap Notes), I'd just put it in sleep mode once I'm through a demo session. And oftentimes if I really like a game, I either don't play it too much so that I can save all my enthusiasm for the full game or if I play a demo a lot, that usually means I really like the game so I'll just get the full game ASAP (so I probably wouldn't even get over the limit, unless the demo was release, like, 6 months prior to the release). It's not that big of an issue, at least not to me.

Tl,dr version: yes, it's stupid, but no, the limitations don't affect my life too much (at least not as long as it's not a stupidly small limit of plays, like what Scamco did with some game of theirs (Ace Combat?) with the 3 play limit).

But anyways, enough of this OT, at least for my part.

Still interested in seeing Tane's Uber since he looks like the most interesting of the new characters, in my opinion. I say that as someone who really wants to try surfing in real life. :p

The game have clan support of any kind? Sure would be easier than adding all these people one by one. Or PSN could finally add groups

On the stream, Justin (PR) mentioned that they're trying to get something of a friends recommendation engine going on the website, so I don't see why something like clan support (outside of the game, on the website, perhaps) couldn't happen in the future. I'd love to be able to have team competitions. Merq Vs. GAF! :O

Bumping the shit out of the OST right now.

So wait, how is the XBL list going to work? Are we adding people onto our Live friend list, or is there a rival list in the game?

There is a Ridernet Rivals "wall" in the game, yes. I'm unsure about whether or not those people have to be on your friends list, however.

I was reading that this game covers pretty much all the mountain ranges on Earth so i'm wondering if this game gets a sequel how are they gonna do it? Will it just be the same mountains again but with new moves? that would be lame. Or will they go back to fantasy courses like the first few SSX games (I wish)?

They could do new peaks. New courses. Bring in artificial, competitive courses like the type you get at the Olympics (like Snowdream in the first SSX, which is still one of my favourite SSX courses). I mean, there are a lot of places on Earth you can snowboard.

edit - turn on PS3 to get PSN ID. New system update. It's a vicious cycle. The more often I see a system update, the longer it takes for me to come back to the system, the more likely it is I see a 'system update' when I next turn it on. SONY can work on not having to update the damn box every couple of weeks for the PS4.

One of the things we suggested when we were at EAC was a destroyed-by-avalanches version of each run. I think it'd be easy to update or make new runs by even placing more rails and such. Another thing we suggested was a "Back to Tokyo Megaplex" DLC package almost like BF3's Back to Karkand DLC package. The "Year of SSX" DLC will be interesting if it happens!

One thing the dev team has to think about, is that if they raise the level caps like they've mentioned via DLC/patch, they'd have to account for the increased player stats allowing them to potentially reach previously-unreachable areas in certain runs. So maybe they'd create additional areas in runs to account for that.

I just want more courses like the first SSX game :)

Might try and stay up until midnight tonight so I can be lucky enough to post on page 1 of the OT, because I'm that much of a nerd for this game.

Alright I'm on the PS3 list. As I'm in the UK I'll be enacting the "wait two weeks and get the game for half price" rule of British retail pricing, so I'll be on the fashionably late side of things.
