An Angry Birds car could have an awesome design.

If they followed it to its natural conclusion, though, I'm not sure it'll be very aerodynamic.

Also, they need to screen people in the stands very carefully. If anyone has a t-shirt with a pig on it, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

We're going to need 3 OT's this season at the rate this thread is going.

Never seen F1 Gaf so active.
Given how less people will have access to it this year it'll calm down a bit.

This thread seems to be most populated with Brits. And unless they want to fork out £40 or find a Sky Go pass to borrow, a hell of a lot of people won't have the same access to F1 this year.

Yeah, because all Brits still hate the Germans cos of WW2? Bit of a fucking stupid thing to say there mate.

Most Brits like Vettel and we love Webber cos he's a top bloke. You have to be a moron to have a bias or affection for someone because of your or their nation.

I think people are a bit bored of him always winning. It'd be hard to find people who dislike him, he's a nice fella.

And the implication there's still racism against the Germans really was a retarded thing to say.

Seem to remember something awfully similar from Trulli last year when he was shit!!

Kimi Raikkonen fears it may take some time for Lotus to deliver a total fix to his power steering problems, after further issues with it hampered his opening day of running at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Lotus driver only completed eight laps in first practice while the team made alterations to the power steering because the Finn was not happy with the way it originally felt.

It is understood Raikkonen is seeking to get more precision from the steering, and solutions implemented by his Enstone-based outfit so far have not been successful.

Although he is hopeful that a further update planned for the Malaysian Grand Prix will improve matters, he thinks a solution that makes him happy on all types of track may not be the work of the moment.

"It is what it is, and I will try to do the best with it," he said when asked by AUTOSPORT about the steering situation.

It was more the implication that British drivers are favored, but eh

while that would explain the general Vettel dislike, it doesn't really explain the Webber thing

I don't think anyone here truly dislikes Vettel as a person. It's just SO BORING to see him win all the time. Sure, it's not really his fault, but that doesn't change anything. It was the same with Schumacher few years ago (except that people actually had a reason to hate him).

Did sky sports have adverts during live practice, or is it just the replay?

Or does practice not count in their "no ads" promise?

WHAT?! How can you hate that man? The reason people may appear to dislike him is because:

1. He destroyed all competition last year.
2. Omiee can go overboard with his love and blind support for him.

Webber gets so much love because....well...just look at him.

Now Alonso says to Marca that the car feels good and that the front row on the grid is a possibility. Probably a lie to calm down his fans.

The consensus seems to be that Mercedes is the smoother car on the track which is odd since they had tyre degradation problems during testing.

I'm past the days of catching the late-night races anyway, so I suspect in a lot of cases the highlights will be perfectly sufficient and *signficiantly more convenient* than live. There's a few races I might have to just grit my teeth and be patient for, though!

My hatred for vettel comes as a reaction to people worshipping him and heralding as one of the all time great while seemingly oblivious that the wins came mainly due to a hilariously fast car giving a insurmountable advantage.

Can't forget about the ol' colonies!
mate

the collective man crush on Webber can be more annoying at times then Vettel hate.
That's because you have to give in. Once you finally let go of whatever's holding back your true feelings, you can join the celebration of his being with the rest of us. It's pretty awesome.

Fun fact, guys: Heinz-Harald has made an appearance this weekend, racing in the Carrera Cup. Given Porsche's involvement in the weekend, I managed to see, for the first time in person, a Panamera.

By GOD it's ugly. It's about as ugly as Webber is handsome.

Could say the same thing about the likes of Fangio, Clark, Ascari, Schumacher and even Senna and Prost. Championships are won while driving the best, often dominant cars.

Virtually every champion wins because his car was the best that year, especially in the modern era.

You could argue that he already did very well in the Torro Rosso or even in his debut in the Sauber. Wether he's an "all time great" or not I like him because of his likeabilty and modesty he displays in interviews.

Agreed, you easily could. Just in the modern day of fanboys the car is utterly ignored as a factor.

Comics, serious business!
But vettel beat webber, and every champion had to beat their team mate first, in virtually identical cars. Whoever wins in any year is the deserving champion, best car or not.

All of that aside, I still think he's the best qualifier out there. He's just got something that others don't seem to over a single lap.

Doesn't really jive considering every car has a duplicate (or near enough as makes no difference) on track.

How often does the team that is dominating actually have 2 of the highest quality drivers racing for them? Usually it's one really good driver with a much less talented one next to him.

Not saying they aren't deserving champions but the fact that someone else has a near identical car doesn't really say much.

Hey F1 Gaf, quick question for you guys.
It seems that I will have the opportunity to go to the Shanghai GP this year, but I can't really recall what it's like, indeed I'm not sure if I've even seen the Shanghai GP televised before. Do bear in mind though that I am a fan of F1 and try to watch on it on the TV whenever I have the chance.

Do you think I should go? And does anyone have any suggestions on where I should sit if I did?

I agree. Since I started watching f1 (96) I'd say 2007 is the only year the best car didn't win.
The MP4-22 won eight races and got 8 poles, the F2007 won nine and got 9 poles and won the constructors' title. I'd say the Ferrari was just as good as the McLaren if not better.

Well last year it said quite a bit considering RBR had two world champs and one of them only managed a single win that was gifted to him by the team. The driver still makes a pretty big difference. Take Button in the rain for example.

Button also won despite RBR being the faster car after the first 6/7 races.

You can't explain everything with numbers because they don't reflect the silly mistakes made by Hamilton and how the Hamilton vs. Alonso clash screwed the team.

A F1 Grand Prix is like no other experience in the world and is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. If you have the chance then do it.

Grandstand seats would be good.

Ferrari won the constructors, but Mclaren should have, but they were suspended from the Constructors that year because they were caught cheating.

True in terms of pure speed it was probably equal but on reliability the mclaren was superior. Kimi had 2 mechanical retirements whereas Hamilton and Alonso both had 0. That's why he was so far behind going in to the last 2 races.

When did Webber become a world champ?

On paper they did and that's what will be remembered throughout the ages.

The discussion here is who was faster in 2007, you cannot just refer 'the paper' for that you have take into considerations a lot of things.
