I might just get this. I hate the look, but I can stand it. My Xbox 360 is still the OG one from the console's launch, and I can tell it's very close to going bad. I've been looking to update to Slim, in fact, so I guess this is kind of perfect...

I can understand wanting a Slim if you are still sitting on an OG Xbox.

But still, this thing is releasing in early November. If you just wait a couple weeks, retailers will probably have some awesome Black Friday deals on systems that do not look like blue neon vomit.

I had an OG Xbox until last year. On Black Friday, Gamestop had 4GB Slim models for $150, and offered an extra $50 credit on trade-ins for old 360 consoles. I paid no more than $50-60 out-of-pocket for a completely new system. Even if the deals this year are completely the same, that's way better than coughing up hundreds of dollars for a new system you totally hate the look of. Buy Halo 4 the day it releases, then wait a little bit for some good deals on regular consoles.

The Halo 3 console is really abysmal in person, looks like a huge green turtle with copper in some places.

The Reach Xbox though looks perfect, the shiny silver could blend with any room or area it's put in.

The Halo 4 Xbox is too way flashy, I also don't like how the color splash diverges into separate panels of coloring.

But in person the Halo 4 Xbox could be snazzy. I've always prefer the black matte finish slim Xbox compared to all the other limited edition offerings.

Come on - if a price drop were coming, now would not be the time to let everyone know. This SKU does not lock them into a $399 pricepoint at all. They could easily drop the price next week and adjust the cost of the Halo 4 bundle.

That's not to say that they will do a price drop, but this certainly doesn't make that an impossibility.

This has to be one of the most ugly consoles Microsoft has ever produced. So busy, so garish, so thoughtless and tacky. I was utterly beside myself reading the first ten replies that were like "DAYYYYUM, that's some hot shit right there! Pre-ordered today!"

This system is roughly the equivalent of one of those collared, silk button-up shirts that has a gigantic wraparound print of Goku shooting a fireball. Which I guess explains its appeal to a small, but enthusiastic and tasteless niche of the community here.

Missed the boat by only including the standard edition of Halo 4 for the price.

This bothers me a lot. I seriously considered getting the Halo 4 LE version since my old 360 (from 2006) could use retirement, but I most definitely want the Limited Edition of Halo 4. Why don't they include that one? I mean, isn't this thing basically for dedicated fans?

Then again, the standard boxart is sexy.

Then again, the actual Halo 4 360 isn't exactly beautiful, unfortunately. At least from what I can tell from this small pic.

Guess I'll just go with the LE of the game, install it so that my 360 stays out of vacuum cleaner mode and hope that it survives until the end of the gen.

Still, I do agree with you. The slim, bundled with kinect, was only $300. Despite the Halo4 model having a 320gb HD, two controllers, and Halo4 (+ additional content), $400 seems a bit much. But when you're a fan of a game franchise, the collector inside comes out to play.

I'm more than a little bit disappointed. I was hoping for something classy like the Reach Xbox but instead got this very LOUD looking unit instead. I was holding out for a new Xbox to play Halo 4 on but will probably just pick up a refurb black 250GB unit and an LE copy of the game instead.

I saw the console and thought hell yeah that gives me an excuse to get the 320gb console, then I heard new Gears of War was due March 2012, alarm bells started ringing. It could be solid gold for all I care, I'm not dropping cash on a console when 1 year later the next gen version could land.
