Believe it or not, gamers who like the Atelier series are NOT pedophiles

What... the hell are you even going on about? Oh holy shit nvm LOL you just called half the people in this thread pedophiles way to go.

Allow me to translate:

Princess Princess so Kawaii!!! 3: Heavenly Six Year Olds
what we have here is what appears to be an exaggerated moe moe kawaii desu japanese game name for LOLZ. This is a typical name that can only be conjured up in superior Nippon.

ageisjustanumberjapanboilol69
This appears to be the username of a pedophile. You can tell because its really long and has random lollercoaster numbers and symbols in it. You cant trust this sort of name. These people also talk in movie theaters.

in front of the import Sega Saturn
Its an import system because baka gaijins cant possibly understand the intricacies of a japanese game, and butcher it. This is known as the law of infinite uguu's. Remember this as it is highly important.

out of the middle schools.
finally, we have what appears to be an implication that people who do not play these games are out of control maniacs that prey on middle schools. Since the pedos are all playing these games, it stands to reason that the people NOT playing the games are in fact guilty of stalking middle schoolers. This does not bode well for humanity, and the only logical way to avoid this terrible outcome is to play these games.

Does she look like she's six?

Totooria_Helmold_image.jpg

Does she? She looks 15's to me. Give or take anime years and styles
GOD DAMN THAT SEE THROUGH DRESS ANNOYS ME such a waste of a pretty design on something like that

On the other hand here is an 8 year old with that art style that looks well like an 8 year old.

I don't know I mean, in AT3, some special attacks DO basically have the characters essentially stripping. Not that it matters but there is a difference in the level of pandering and the frequency of it between the games.

IMO that's still not a problem since the characters don't look all that young (around 18 I'd say)

Dude...I am not somebody that likes "cute things." But when I look at those covers, I am amazed with the beautiful art style. Do you not see how gorgeous that artwork is? The city designs, the floral patterns, the coloring...I appreciate these like I would a painting. It does not mean you are into "cute things" or anything like that.
You guys keep saying "cute". I don't see anything cute about this. Cute to me is a puppy or a baby. Mickey Mouse and Mario are cute. All I see is with this artwork is "girly" and "feminine". While I do appreciate the quality of art I personally would have done without the flowers and feminine colors. I understand that there is a level of femininity that comes with most RPGs but if this game is geared towards males at all, maybe they went a little overboard on the art for my tastes.

But like I said, I try to be open minded. Never judge a game by it's cover right?

Well, i think when we compare games West vs East, they're more open towards sexuality in games like we are to violence. Japan is the land of cute so they tend to mix the two and it can sometimes come off strange to us, who definition of sexiness is.. more i dunno aggressive?

Not sexualizing children is aggressive?

"Your honor, she told me she was a 1000 year old demon lord!"

Show that to anyone not initiated in 2000+ animes and they'll say she looks 10~14.

that's just the nature of anime/manga art though. The faces are drawn with very few lines so everything appears younger, especially if you are used to other kind of comics.

I've never watched more than a few minutes of any anime series, it's just something I'm not interested in and I can honestly say that the first character looks "of age" to me, maybe 16 at youngest. Like I said before I mainly play FPS/fighting games and I've only tried one of the Atelier games so I'm not a defense force for the game.

I'm not saying it's necessarily strange or anything just that AT and especially AT3 are on a whole different level compared to say the Atelier series when it comes to pandering.

Right ... but considering the direction of the thread (pandering, sexualizing, etc.), Ar Tonelico fits that boat far more than the Atelier series. Atelier has some typical pandering humor, certainly, but the claims made in this thread are ridiculous. It's not necessarily a bad thing, for the record. Just saying that if the argument is about the games and overt sexual things, Atelier is a pretty far cry from that.

But, hey, Atelier Rorona/Totori/Meruru all have you playing as a girl so ergo it's all the worse. Or something.

Sakura of Streetfighter looks older and she's in high school. There's no way this girl looks of age.

Even stylized as it is, that girl is ridiculously, eating-disorderly thin. Definitely contributing to body image issues in our society.

Oh man that's just shameful. How could they possibly be so bold as to objectify a person like that. I mean, toned muscles and a torn black tank top? Why would anyone play a game displaying men in such humiliating fashion?
Dude this is like sexism.jpg

The guy is portrayed as calm, cool, and in control, even while in the grip of the nefarious octopus. He projects power and strength.

Meanwhile the girl is portrayed as wide-eyed, scared, and vulnerable.

Also those are some ridiculous heels for any woman to be wearing all day.

Different art styles Sak would look younger if the artist drew her. Sak is 16

This is Totori at 20 five years older than the other pic.

Pretty much but still

Bottom can be very popular with boys

Made me laugh pretty hard, she isn't a child though. You might as well be calling everyone in japan pedophiles including the women who choose to dress that way.I wonder how this thread would view Lolita fashion style.

It's a Japanese game with a Japanese cover.I guess if you're fat you'll get offended easily but they're average body weight isn't the same as the U.S.

The artwork in that game looks gorgeous.

Um, what? He most certainly is not in control. He's just as tangled as she is (the in-game dialogue also confirms as such)

I think you're seeing what you want to see, not what's actually there.

I really...don't see that at all. The guy is doing nothing in that picture to make us assume he's in control. He's just as tangled as she is. His face also seems to express some degree of shock. Look at his mouth.

He's not being as expressive as the girl, but that's likely because that's how his character is.

I'm preeettyyyy sure that that post wasn't supposed to be serious.

On a side note, now that's a really creepy picture. I'd like to think that most people who played the game thought the same.

It did elicit a groan from me when I played, yes.

It's also exactly one CG out of several in the game, which as I mentioned in my OP are hardly representative of the game's content.

That character design is going to undoubtedly effect sales. I don't see many parents buying there kids that game, especially when that's the cover art.

do parents really do that these days? kids play on ipads before they can speak. kids can probably use the internet better than their parents at elementary school level.

Something like Finaika's avatar though - that's cool. It's differs from the norm and the character looks like she's from an old-school, respectable anime, and not something that weeaboos clamour to express their love for because it's "KAWAAAAAIIII!!!1! ^_^"
I bet you I could screencap numerous pantyshots from a number of """""old school respectable anime""""""""""""""""

Is the early 1970s old enough?

What is the appeal of anime children?

What is the explanation for this:
UJmga.jpg

What is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT2GRpwwS8M

When you support companies that sexualize children, you're supporting pedophilia, doesn't matter how good the "game" is. Especially when the rewards are putting these children in perverse situations.

If you want to end the pedophilia promotion stereotype that's continually reinforced by anime companies stop defending their material no matter how "good" it is. I love Mario, but if the end goal was to rape the child princess at the end I wouldn't be supporting it.

Thread was over when this image was posted(or maybe before that)

Doesn't matter how many sick individuals come pouring in from that thread to say otherwise.

A bit OT here but what is the name of the song from the video that the now ...departed... Boggie posted? I heard it yesterday for the first time but can't recall. Rodeo Gundam style maybe? Not sure.

She looks 13 at best.

This is a textbook case of stuff that quite appals me really. Translucent short skirt, no nose, extremely tight fitting top. It's not as if the artist is bad, and NEEDS to pander in order to get an audience. The game should sell on the merits of it's unique gameplay, not the use of imagery meant only to appeal to basal desires.
