I can tell you that this bulborb seems more alive than the frog ! Look at his eyes ^^
He's saying to you "who are you ? Please don't attack me ! I just wanna play "
Comparing the new cry engine with what began as a Wii game is kind of hyperbolic and irrelevant.Trying to google search I see you lol
How many RPGs have achieved the same sense of scale though, without sacrifice? Too many RPGs this generation have become too closed off, due to technical reasons or resources. It looks like Monolith Soft won't be facing such restrictions, since the scale here is certainly reminiscent to Xenoblade's.
That small island near the mech's leg in the first image is the same island the character is shown battling in the second one. This one part of the world is ridiculously large and can be explored on a friggin mech without load screens. Very few games can get that done at this level of detail. It certainly is impressive, both on an aesthetic and technical level.
Now how much of that is actually explorable? You're comparing different types of RPGs, but X is definitely on a whole other level graphically.

Umm wow,FF 13 looks equally as impressive and it's a game from 2010.also, it looks remarkably similar to FF13 Gran Pulse area, it even shares the "barren landscape with huge monsters" theme.
Well it looks better than FF13.wait, people here really thinks Xenoblade 2 (or any other game that was shown for that matter) was more graphically impressive than any PS360 game? really?
fanboyism at its finest. the games looks good, ill give you that, but not the 'better than anything on the PS360' kind of good.
So when is little big planet: yoshi edition coming out on ps3?
There you have it
Here is footage of the console version of Far Cry 3.

I hear that's close.Once the secret Nintendo/Sony merger is complete.
I dont know why but that sounds more likely than Resident evil revelations to vita.So when is little big planet: yoshi edition coming out on ps3?
Its pointless to argue against hype. Nobody is going to be convinced of anything they haven't already decided. Lessons learned, etc. Some people are convinced its the greatest thing ever, others think it looks like a wii game. Most people fall somewhere inbetween, and that aggravates the hell out of the extreme-types.
"Up with what PS3/360 has done so far". Man, you guys are going to be SO disappointed with PS4/720.

I think the games showed today look fantastic, but it's nothing technically impressive.
And here is a video of Shadow of the Colossus using that rasterizing technique.

For one thing you're asking everyone to separate two integral pieces of a whole.
Xenoblade was impressive both on artistic merits and technical usage of the hardware constraints designed under. Two parts of a whole. Just because you don't see something ground-breaking or new in the technical design does not mean you can't have an appreciation of what it renders. This is my stance on most of these recent WiiU software reveals. "Visually stunning, but technically very much grounded in the current class of consoles."
I'm sure we'll see improvements, but I doubt any of it will be completely out of the reach of either the 360 or PS3.
It looks good, but not "better than anything the 360 and PS3 have" good.

what jump? there is no jump.I can understand the argument if you are expecting PS4 level graphics. But we know WiiU is no PS4 and a relatively smaller jump from PS360.
what jump? there is no jump.
Well it looks better than FF13.
One is an open world game and the other isn't.
Not sure if serious.
Compared to PC, it's not impressive.
Compared to PS3/360 its decent.
Compared to Wii. It's impressive.
the guy on the right is the leader in stargate atlantis right?
Ok, time to open some eyes i think.
------
Very low polygonal terrain
Sun height doesnt affect shadows at all. Here sun is about in 30 degree, but shadow is cast from 80 degree. So lighting is static, mostly prebaked.
Particles quality is on pair with pre PS2 era, alpha texture resolution 64x64?
Water rendering is very simple, there is no refraction or distortion, also no reflections from objects. Also next example of very low resolution alpha textures.
Foliage is completely sprite based, same as in Xenoblade
LOD is very aggressive, even for sprite based foliage and that means bandwidth problems of WiiU
Yeah, its on pair with midtier current gen open world games, but even that is generous. What is good in this footage? Character/NPCs models, materials and HDR.
also, it looks remarkably similar to FF13 Gran Pulse area, it even shares the "barren landscape with huge monsters" theme.
Cringe-worthy post.Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics Graphics
I'm getting really tired that the majority of threads os NeoGAF lately is all "next gen oh yeah rendering triple x motherfucking hdr x 2000 moving grass omg is this next gen or not I won't buy if the graphics ain't good enough look at this it next gen u mad bro have u seen this 5000 triple buffering graphics you can even see the nasal hairs lucky me if I couldn't see the nasal hairs it would have been a no buy".
Otherwise, will you argue with something else than a gif, supposing make fun of what I said ?
I doubt we've seen something with that graphic quality + draw distance + scale on PS360.
Even Final Fantasy Versus XIII doesn't look as good or as huge.
The best looking games comparable in scale/size would be Skyrim and Far Cry 3, and neither look as good as Xeno.
The trailer shows more action than the entirety of Gran Pulse....(which isn't that big when you are in it).
Edit: This thread is getting ridiculous. It's a new game, it looks good. That's it. Comparing it to 3rd and 4th gen games is meaningless. How does it compare to the games unveiled in the first three months of the PS3 and 360? pretty fucking well actually. Lets have a real conversation about the relative abilities of the Wii U compared to the HD twins when the Wii U has had chance to be pushed. See you in two or three years.
Just Cause 2 looks better and is even on a much bigger scale.
