LEGO GAF |OT2|: Building Dreams. Demolishing Wallets

I wonder why the Pet Shop is 16+ and Town Hall is 14+.

Sexual References and Strong Language

Does anyone else have late night bricklink binges that they regret in the morning? I went on to order some of those custom chrome pieces (and a few official chrome pieces) for Ecto-1, I ended up spending $30 at one store and $50 in another, since there was some other pieces cheap I figured "might" be useful.

How is buying from the Amazon Warehouse? Are usually the parts and instructions there, but like the box is torn up?

Considering a few items...

Here's a good deal if anyone is interested in the new Ninjago sets. They all come with a free Spitta spinner ($10 value). The best deal is if you buy the new Fire Mech, it basically becomes B1G1F. I used it to get another Golden Dragon.

I was strong today. I visited the local Lego store to see if there were any new bricks on the wall. The girlfriend asked if I was going to get PetShop. I remained strong and got out with just 6 of the Series 9 figs.

SHAME ON YOU. SHE WANTS that PetShop. I know I enjoyed it immensely! :girl!:

Meanwhile, I'm doing a MOC based off on Friends' Cafe Shop. I'll be extending it to several floors and make it a neighboring building to accompany the PetShop/Fire Brigade/TownHall/Emporium. :D This will be my long term Lego project. I'd be modifying this building a lot just to add a lot of finer touches along the way. :)

Town Hall is a simpler build. No crazy technique like some of the stuff in Pet Shop like upside down parts. I dunno. I am reaching here.

They don't usually make much sense to me even as a rough guide, my 8 year old built both with only occasional help required finding pieces and fixing the stray off by one issue. Now the ISD is a different story...

Seeing that Alien Conquest ship makes me wish they had went with the line for a bit longer. Maybe they could have introduced an alien base, a lab where they try to disect the aliens or something of that nature.

Just stopped at a local walmart, they had two full boxes of series 8 minifigs on clearance for $2 each. I only grabbed 5 figures, but thinking about going back and grabbing a whole box. Worth it? I'd only keep one full set for myself, have a friend who's interested in another set. That would leave another full set and some spares, but shouldn't have a problem getting rid of them.

Two sets at the same time, man.

I am embarrassed that I did not think of that.

But it would be an interesting, yet more expensive, MOC experiment. The joint pieces and lime green aspects of the Power Mech combined with the hinge pieces and brown of Fierce Flyer.

Hmmm. No matter which set wins, I think I might try that on my own. For now though, fighting disassembling Fierce Flyer so I can keep it separate in case it wins the vote.

EDIT: Oh, and I love the fact that we have so many neat, inexpensive sets to choose from this time. And ones that not many people have either, and are very easy to find.

The better solution would be to have the winner be our next contest. The second contest will be the runner up. The third contest will be both combined so it's a gradual purchase for everyone.

Take your logic and get out of here! It makes too much sense!

Although I think a nice break after this next one will be good. The gaps make it seem more special.

Is it acceptable to post a one off of "clone" brands here?

I've slipped down the slippery slope and have bought other brands for the themes such as Doctor Who and Mario Bros. This one caught my attention today.

I feel some licenses will never get the LEGO treatment so rationalize getting these clones that do have those licenses. Dat Daphne. Minifig doesn't do her justice, but I envision some interesting scenarios with those minifigs.

More info on some 2013 sets. http://merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/character-building-scooby-doo-on-its-way/

Looking back at sets, I think "if only I started earlier."

I refuse to let any sets "get away" from this point on. There are some already that are "well, that would have been cool. But, oh well." Sets like Market Village and Shuttle Expedition. But they were never on the OMFG I must have it now!

Both were on my list to get, especially Medieval Market Village; however, LEGO keeps churning out all these great sets and I can't afford to get them all. So both of those set fell very low on my list. Haunted House and Arkham Asylum were big surprises and are pricey. Pushed a bunch of items down the list.

Ohhh My! LEGO has a way of slowly making me want sets I was lukewarm initially. Wasn't planning on getting all the sets, but that ship is growing on me.

My wife bought and built this the other day, looks nice and there are endless possibilities for funny setups with this which i love ;)

Only set I need to get from Friends wave 1 and 2 lines. And no, I didn't get them all.

So I was in a toystore today..and saw the Alien Conquest mothership for 35 euro.

So I bought it....goddamn that thing is HUGE.... I have nowhere to put it.

I have it too but didn't build it. It is assimilated to my collective of bricks. Just think that circle is made of LEGO train tracks. What better reason to get a LEGO train set to go on it. :)

awesome, thanks!

this is cool!

So awesome. That needs to go on Cuusoo. I can imagine a LEGO micro theme similar to Architecture with stuff like this.

Never happen with the Star Trek license in Kreo's filthy hands.

Completely forgot about that. I will have to get the main crew and a generic red shirt Kreon/minifig. Sigh.

Speaking of Chima, I keep seeing this set in the field and am tempted by this one. It looks so sinister and badass:

Dat black and purple!

It's the lowest priced Chima set. It's the price of a lunch or two. It has a bunch of nice pieces for MOCs. Are you having a conscience now? Listen to the red 1x1 brick.

Ended up ordering the Vampyre Hearse from Amazon Warehouse for $27.19.

Still thinking over a Ninjago Kai's Fire Mech, and the Monster Hunter's Werewolf.

Get all of them and return what you don't want!

My son got it for free today at his Lego Club meeting! It does look like a fun set! And sinister too!

Will that somehow be a gateway Lego into the Chima universe?

I will admit, some of the sets are pretty damn cool looking. I like the different blues contrasting with the white.

It has been a while since I have been here. The last few months have been amazing/awful ever since I did a tally of all my LEGO bought during all of OT1 and beginning of OT2. Other important expenses made me temporarily unsubscribe from this thread so as to resist the temptation.

But all of that was for naught. If it wasn't for last night when I was looking for a gift for my god child and somehow wandered onto the LEGO section and noticed the new CREATOR lines. I am weak. I went home with a giant DUPLO bin for the god child and a small Fierce Flyer for myself.

I guess I am back, LEGO-GAF.

I'd vote for small cottage, but yeah... no chance there. So Power Mech it is!

To all LEGO fans: what is your consensus on CUUSOO?

Kind of a bummer after the latest review.
