Vita Heaven 2 Electric Bugaloo 2/18 - Zero new games, massive price drop, Vita RIP

Price drop makes me happy, and the silver Vita is slick as fuck, I hope that one comes to NA (I may import if it doesn't)

Shame about the lack of new games though. :/

I'm not even going to give it away.
if you treat your devices like that you probably don't even enjoy them in the first place

I can't believe we still cannot backup our Vita save games to PC without copying the entire game.

They added copying files over wifi. They added the ability to do cloud saves. But they won't add this feature?? I'm starting to think it is intentional...

Wow, I was looking forward to some announcement, but ALAS there were not. Bloody hell Sony! I want to buy the damn thing, sell me your product.

Also, Massive? that is equivalent of £40, right? That is hardly a massive price cut.

It's a start. I'd also expect a second price drop later in the year.

Yeah, that makes sense, cheers!

I really want one, but I think they just screw us over here in UK. Its even cheaper to buy it in other EU countries because of Sony's stupid decision to convert the currency close to 1:1.

I hate how companys screw us over. Even bloody Nintendo!

"Both vita models will be priced at ¥19,980 starting on Feb 28th"

How much of a drop is this? Looks like that equates to about $215 USD

Wow, no new games is tough. I only expected maybe 1 or 2 titles to be announced, but nothing? Geez.

Although for that price I'm tempted to pick one up, mainly for the PS1 Classics and a few of the original titles.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
so you are saying they will have "out of nowhere" event before PS4 just to talk about already announced and close to release games?

Surprising huh. I was actually pretty close with my prediction and what you said, came true literally.

-Schedule announcement event for your game system.
-Fail to announce new games.

Sounds like Sony and Vita. Price drop should help for a week or two and the upcoming Japanese software will help them through the summer...but then what? Back to sub-9k sales?

They at least needed one announcement like Soul Sacrifice.

Wow. Last night I was really looking forward to coming into work, grabbing some coffee, and reading about some new games for my beloved Vita. I never expected this level of disappointment.

I don't understand this statement. How can you backup something without copying something?
He's probably referring to the saves. It's strage because if you check the game's backup directory there's a separate sub-directory for saves. Maybe in a future FW update?
You can back them up to the cloud with PS+, maybe they want to incentive you doing that instead...

Hey guys, remember when the PSP was dead? The PS3 was dead? The 3DS was dead?

Yeah, overreactions.

Hey guys, remember all those high profile games with mass market appeal that were announced for the Vita prior to it's launch just like those other systems? I sure don't.

Those platforms were never in the same situation as the Vita. Vita has essentially gone through the lifespan of the GameCube condensed into one year, the software situation is beyond bleak and nobody is buying the hardware.

Ouch.

Well, 99$ Vita soon!

I fail to see that. it happens every console cycle (has no games, too expensive, whatever reason of the week) then something comes out for it that everyone wants and its resurrected.

That is true but what is coming? What has Sony told us? What have they tried to sell us on? A remake of Final Fantasy? I mean comeon man, I hope they aren't being this dysfunctional on purpose.

I'll tell you what I think happened; I think they jumped the gun. They launched the Vita with nowhere near enough third party support lined up. The parallels with the Wii U are pretty potent.

Had this "event" been only to announce the price drop and a reminder of the February-June line up I would've liked it better because there would be hope for unknown games. But they showed games not coming any time soon (FFX, DC) and that certainly puts a big doubt on future announcements for the system.

Just think of the Vita as a really expensive PS4 accessory. It will help take the sting out of the situation.

I'm hoping they bring the Gaikai stuff to Vita as well.

Why "Vita RIP," other than it being the thing people say around here?

It needed a price drop. I had to drop eventually. Would it be more "alive" if it never dropped in price?

Suspect they're getting rid of the 3G model, as I doubt anyone buys that or pays for the service.

I blame the save exploits. They don't want people messing with the files just as easily as it was on the PSP.

It was definitely meant to be a price drop + 6 month showcase, but it needed to be a little more. FFX and Dragon's Crown were damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Can't really expect SCEJ to provide though. They're miniscule and insignificant.

Forgot about this, and just woke up, lol

I guess it was intentionally called "Vita Heaven" instead of "Vita Game Heaven"? :<

Very good news about the price drop though; now maybe Soul Sacrifice will have a chance if Sony pushes it hard enough.

OMG that reverse .gif in the OP. :lol

Exactly how this event would go because Square didn't announce FFXII:I:ZJS HD for it.

Oh, Sony... no one wants THIS IS MY STORY OLD MAN HD.

They've already announced the big first party efforts coming up, they probably won't be showing new new games until E3 Having a price drop, new colors, and a bundle all coinciding with the release of POS2 isn't admitting defeat. Just showing new games that happened to be in the pipeline (and are ready to be shown) without any of the other stuff would be far worse.
