Bravely Default: Flying Fairy twitter account says they can hear the overseas fans

海外の方からのコメントがとても多い! 皆様に遊んでもらえるようがんばります! There is very much comment from overseas one! I do my best to have all of you play!

Here's a better translation I made of the tweet:

So many comments from overseas fans!
We will do our best to have everyone playing [the game]!

Essentially......this tweet confirms it's coming over.

Hate to be pessimistic, but that sounds more to me like they WANT to get it over here, but there's only so much they can do if the higher ups don't OK it. Just look at Xenoblade (for awhile) and The Last Story, the latter of which never even came to the US from Nintendo themselves, but XSEED.

Maybe they'll release an International version with English text... In Japan.

Hope they announce this soon because I'm leaving Japan in a month and want to know I I should pick it up before I leave. I've already bought Type-0 and plan to pick up DQVII and maybe X as well. So basically these will probably all be announced soon.

While I certainly don't take these tweets as confirmation of anything, afaik that Twitter account isn't just a random developer expressing his thoughts. It's the official PR, which makes it far more likely to be an actual tease. It might not be sanctioned by Square Enix, but that's likely why he's being coy.

Probably depends on if the producer or whoever mans it. That probably is the best hope though, that SE IS giving the OK and so they're being coy.

Right. That Twitter account serves as an official channel for all Bravely Default announcements.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Asano is obviously teasing for a future announcement. And his latest tweet was the most direct out of all. "We will do our best to have everyone playing the game" is pretty damn close to announcing a localization.

Right. All the tweets are by Asano, a producer of the game, and that Twitter account serves as an official channel for all Bravely Default announcements.

Or he's going to argue REALLY STRONGLY with his bosses. Though either way it confirms that IS the producer on there (and I hope he's not still pushing for it, because if it's already worked on we'll get it sooner than later, and the 3DS needs more games.)

I guess you do have a point. After all, just take a look at the Twitter account title:

3DS用ソフト、ブレイブリーデフォルトの公式アカウントです。特に注釈がなければプロデューサーの浅野が発言しております。

Translation:

3DS用ソフト、ブレイブリーデフォルトの公式アカウントです。- This is the official account for Bravely Default, a 3DS title.
特に注釈がなければプロデューサーの浅野が - If [the tweets] are not personal commentary from producer Asano...
発言しております。 - ...We'll point it out.

So these tweets have just been producer Asano talking...not an official statement by Square Enix. Although still...where there's smoke, there's fire. I'm still betting on it.

We're in our second year post Type-0. I don't bet on Square anymore.

Type-0 has the excuse of taking too long to come out on PSP and now figuring out what platforms to port to, or if that's done then developing for those. But they did pretty much kill their DS support later on, and haven't brought over any of their DQ stuff on 3DS. It's not the most optimistic view, but I think there's no sure way to tell how they'll go with this, a new, possibly healthier platform for software sales may be what's needed to convince them to bring some of this stuff over again.

Though a good chunk of what they DID skip on did tank in Japan anyway, SaGa and DQ games being the biggest exceptions I'd think.
please please please please change the name in localization
The name's grown on me, and there's worse English names when you consider what default really means (turning your back on obligations.)

I still don't think it's coming over, but just for kicks let's try and come up with a good localized title.

...uh... ummm... I don't know anything about the game besides the Brave and Default system so someone else should take a crack at it.

Gotta keep "Flying Fairy" in the title. I can't explain why for massive spoiler reasons, but it needs to be there.

So... the game's actually good right?

It's all right. If your favorite thing to do in a JRPG is to grind jobs and mess with ability combinations, then it's probably really good.

If you just want to play through it and enjoy the story... I'd say it's middle-of-the-road.

Let me guess, there's a flying fairy.

I totally disagree with that.

I will buy a 3ds sometime between when this is officially announced and when it comes out. Oh and fire emblem too. Pleased to be looking forward to it.

What was this?

There's one GameFAQs guy claiming to have an "insider" news of some sort. He said that Squenix decides these localizations on meetings that was scheduled every two months. In December, there was no talk of BD being translated at all, and he said the next meeting is in February. In February, he posted that BD will be localized, but the start of the process is still undecided.

It does coincide with the recent tweets. My guess is someone pushed for localization to the higher-ups.

Assuming those are for real (or managed to roughly match reality anyway), it ALSO coincides with Nintendo's proclamation of working with 3rd parties to bring over Japanese titles. They well could've looked at the sales a game like Bravely Default managed, saw international demand, saw apathy from SE, and went "for fuck's sake get it over here we'll chip in if that's what it takes."

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

Cheers. Gamefaq rumours are among the most suspect for me, so I'm not going to put too much stock in those. However, the tweets seem pretty straight forward.

Unless Square is, you know, trolling.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Maybe Nintendo payed with Trinnen too. So he can learn Japanese even more for a long long time with Square's top men.

Waiting for a good RPG to get localized is like waiting for an OCRemix album to release.

Only takes 1-3 years.

I would be a bit disappointed if Nintendo was forced to localize it, not gonna lie. Squeenix should be the one who should notice the demand. But I'll take it. As I said before, Nintendo's going to give this game a lot better promotion than Squeenix ever would've dreamed to.

Square is blinded by light. Therefore they cannot see, while they surround their fanbase in absolute darkness. BDFF didn't get much promotion outside of a few commercials or an ad or so. The main guy Asano was asking for some facebook marketing back then too.

So yeah I don't think they care, not to mention they undershipped in Japan. Either they expected little or were pushing for digital.

Ok now I'm definitely hyped.
Do you read this read SE?
I'll definitely buy it. And I'll buy the collector edition if there is one. I will give you my f****** money.
So don't screw everything up.
(this and dragon quest 7, I'll buy it too I swear)

I've done all I could do.

Am I the only one who was never worried and still isnt about this hitting the west? This isn't the case of dying platform in the west like Type-0 or blood of bahamut where they just don't care.

Maybe I'm just to optimistic but I realistically can't see this game not coming to America. Square has a good enough track record about bringing us games.

Too bad bout Terry's Wonderland.

Just hope DQ7 doesn't suffer the same fate. And I don't think it will.

I think most are tired of the announcement of an announcement antics from Square.

I think it's probably worth noting that of all the impressions I've seen of this game from GAFfers since its release -- Zefah seems to be the individual who likes it the least. So, don't put all your eggs in one basket. :)

EU too please. Don't bother translating it in German/Spanish/French etc., I never play games in my local language anyway. Just give it to me in English.

So... the game's actually good right?

To me it was an "ok" game, but not an amazing game...I especially didn't like the last parts of the game at all, story wise and gameplay wise, and it had its moments of "Otaku bullshit" (saw this term in another thread and really felt the same). But it's the best looking RPG on the system, it has some strong game mechanics and a beautiful soundtrack...Overall, it was a bit of a disapointement for me. I'm sure some of the issues can be fixed in a sequel though, now that squarenix knows the game can sell
