Crap, you guys. I'm still on, like, chapter 6. Gotta play all night to catch up…

It's because I keep getting distracted and going off on some side road instead of going to my mission like a good cop.

Should a sequel feature Chase in other Lego settings or should it feature new characters.

I'd love to see something based on the Lego Castle series.

Space would be cool, too.

You haven't
been to the final levels
yet have you? (I would like a full on lego space game though)

I was always gonna buy this game (hurry up EU release!), but watching the beginning of a playthrough made me realise that this is basically Lego Naked Gun! I knew it was funny, but I never knew it was a full-on parody (I generally don't follow games too much after I decide I want to play it myself). A very pleasant surprise to say the least, I love me some well-done genre send-ups. I will have to give Bioshock and Luigi's Mansion the brunt of my attention these coming weeks, but after that it's Monster Hunter U and Lego City Undercover all the way!

Just unlocked the camera and have to say ive never been one to use a camera in a game but using the gamepad as a camera is awesome. I was driving around a saw a character walking around in a gorilla outfit and had to take a picture. This game is about to pass red dead as my favorite open world game of all time, no joke.

Does this game have a day/dusk lighting cycle? I swear sometimes I boot up the game and its darker out.

I thought I wouldn't care about the collectibles and unlocks in this....no, addicted.

Im in the same boat, only up to chapter 8 and have almost 20 hours into this game. Just finished apollo island and this game keeps delivering, the shit the guy was saying over the intercom was hilarious. If you own a wii u go buy this, its wiiu's best game.

I finally picked up the game today, and I'm liking what I've been playing so far. The vehicle controls are a bit wonky, but I'm glad it looks nice and there is no screen tearing, that I've seen.

It finally happened...Play Asia shipped my copy. Now the wait for it to get here. Can't wait. :D Reading people's impression in this thread really has me hyped up.

I'm almost done chapter 3 and I still haven't figured out how to unlock the disguise booths. There is no "police box" in the police station basement.

It is where the gym is located, in the back. It's blue and white and has the starred police badge on it. Break it and build the booth.

He may not have gone into the area where you build a custom disguise yet - the door to the left of the counter where you buy characters. I believe you have to go in there and come out again, then it says disguise booths are unlocked.

After that, the box of booth parts appears on the lower floor of the basement in the rear-center.

Only 3 hours into the game but really enjoying this so far. Also the load times aren't as bad to me. Then again I'm checking things on my PC when a long load time appears or drinking something. So it's making the time pass quicker.

Does anyone know what the Shied pieces are or what causes you to get them? I've had it appear twice now but there was no prompt about it.

I am not totally sure about the Shield pieces but I do know they only show up in the individual special cases that put you in a self-contained area you have to work your way through. I have received shield pieces for smashing/building a certain amount of the same item within the level and collecting certain studs (I think). Have not completed a full shield yet so I assume you can't until you go back to those levels with added abilities. Got 3/4 once and 2/4 all other times.

Full shield = a gold Lego, so it is necessary to come back to all missions to unlock new stuff (though I had 2 or 3 full shields in my first playthrough).

Finished up the story earlier, the last mission is by far the best, you'll go wow!
Clocked in at 22 hours and 44.2% complete after the credits rolled, then I just spent time collecting around a few districts of the city.

Any mentions of Nintendo's involment in the game during the credits?

Tbh, I spaced out and checked Gaf during them. It was just text and music, but there are ton of Nintendo objects in the game, so I'd assume they were fairly involved. I'll check later today.

While it is still too early in 2013 to make any proclamation, I have to say if LEGO City Undercover came out in 2012 it would have been my GOTY.

You know for me it would be between Lego City and Sleeping Dogs. Sleeping Dogs has better mechanics (the fighting system, the driving system, etc), but god damn. I absolutely love Sleeping Dogs but I have to say that Lego City is a lot more fun.

Sounds great, I loved sleeping dogs, and this game just looks like pure fun

So I'm about to go out to buy this here in Spain and I still don't know if the game will be in English or in Spanish. I really don't want to listen to the pathetic Spanish dubbing so does anyone know if this game will force it on me?

is this officially out on Thursday in the UK? Got a text from GAME saying my copy is in

because of the easter holidays?

ShopTo pull through again.

Official UK date is 28th, but most places are selling it today anyway.

Come on UK, let's show the world we don't hate Nintendo. :(

is this likely to drop in price as a TT lego game, or stay firm as a Nintendo published game?

If the former i'd wait - still need to finish lego LotR. If the latter I might pick it up tomorrow (surprisingly cheaper for me at GAME as they gave me a £5 off voucher when I traded in a bunch of stuff)

Its only 50, and I would suggest dropping any other lego game to start this one. It is completely different from your traditional licensed Lego game.

I've just asked a guy on Miiverse who got the German version early. I hope he answers. Same would hold for the Spanish version, I presume. What I know is that there is a German dub definitely, but I'm eager to know if the English soundtrack with subtitles can be used instead. Currently all points to the German dub to be quite inferior. I've watched one trailer and it already had two blatant problems.

First, it dumped one joke altogether:
"Stop! Or I'll... keep running after you!" → "Ich bin heute in Topform!" ("I'm in top form today!")

Then they translated a term literally which is just wrong:
"crime wave" → "Welle der Kriminalität"
This term doesn't even exist in German. Correct would be "Verbrechenswelle".

I feel with you. Game translations can be painful when not getting the needed attention they deserve. I hope I can set the English voices or I'd have to try importing a UK version or something.

UPDATE: He said yes!! Apparently you can select multiple languages! :-D ♪♪

Yeah, I just got it and the first thing that pops out is the language selection screen, so it's all fine :D

Just got the Grapple Gun, game's been hilarious so far, thoroughly enjoying it :)

Nintendo also bankrolled all of the non-English localized voices for the game by contracting it out to SIDE London. Nintendo had previously worked with SIDE London on The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles, Kirby's Epic Yarn, etc.

What does all of this mean? It MEANS that Lego City Undercover is a Wii U exclusive and will STAY a Wii U exclusive.

* SiNG Party, which had similar types of credits, stayed Wii U exclusive.

* Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, which didn't remain Wii U exclusive, had no mention of Nintendo in their credits, indicating that Nintendo didn't really publish the game at all, but merely "distributed" it.

* Nintendo put so much effort into this title that there is pretty much a 100% chance they nabbed it as an exclusive.

* If Nintendo actually localizes a game worldwide like this and doesn't just distribute it, you can bet that the game will stay exclusive.

So if you'd like to play this game, be prepared to invest money into buying a Wii U.

Nothing for voice credits?

For the domestic voiceovers, TT Fusion did the voices in cooperation with SIDE London, who casted + provided voice facilities + voice direction.

The sessions included voice & facial capture, helping bring even more expression to the inhabitants of Lego City.

Also, this is not listed in the North American game credits, but SIDE London was also contracted by Nintendo to take care of the foreign voice overs.

Thank you for this, Updated the OP accordingly. This might even be worth a new thread so people know that this basically is some kind of Nintendo game.

So i know it says you need an external hdd to download the game, but does anyone know if it can be copied to your internal storage.

I want to transfer my games to my new 2tb hdd from my old 500gb. The only way to do it is to move them one by one to my internal and then back to my new external.
