Actors with ruined faces

I know this story, but I swear I can never tell the difference before and after. Can someone spell it out for me?

The story is that his nose was pretty much taken completely off his face, but I remember Hamill addressing that later and saying he basically just broke his nose and his cheek.

This is Mark Hamill in 1977:

This is him, post facial surgery after car-crash

Basically, his nose kinda tilts to the right now. That's about it.

It did not "mangle his face". Good grief. My point was that he used a pic from 1977 and one from 2013.

Oh, his face was mangled all right. I remember him saying something about the surgeons having to dig teeth out of his sinus cavity. They put him back together and did a pretty good job of it, but he ended up with a different face. If someone can't look at Star Wars Hamill and Empire Strikes Back Hamill and not see the difference, no amount of explaining I could do would change their mind.

Yeah I remember asking my dad what was wrong with his face, and he told me he had been affected by the Dark side. I was like 'oh.'

The thread was about people who have ruined faces. He doesn't look bad at all post surgery.

His face is "ruined" in that his original natural face was destroyed and replaced with a reconstructed one. It doesn't have to mean that he became a hideous monster.

women also face an earlier sell by date when compared to men in Hollywood. I imagine they are under more pressure to remain attractive so they still get roles. How many times have we seen the old man with a hot, young wife?

I'm starting to think Hamill toned down his description of what happened over the years. When I was a kid in the late 70s, I remember him describing it a lot worse, as I mentioned previously.

I know for a fact he didn't just "break" his nose. The cartilage was gone and replaced by an implant.

Medical professional says he can give you the fountain of youth, or at least buy you a few years. People willing to believe it.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that this plastic surgery stuff just doesn't work.

I'm sure with a few people, some minor operations work out OK.

But it is such a huge risk. You are gambling looking a bit old to looking like a freak. And a lot of these people now just look like freaks. And once you get that freak look, you pretty much can't go back.

Destroyed her career:

This is a weird case. She actually looked more attractive post surgery, IMHO but she lost her distinctive look and thus became more anonymous. A very strange back-fire.

(BTW, I don't think the above is a fair comparison . . . I think that after shot is more than a decade after the surgery.

Travolta and Hanks look absolutely hideous when they grow out their hair. Facially they look pretty much the same just older and fatter.

Pretty sure half his face is paralyzed.

Complications his mother suffered during labor forced her obstetricians to use two pairs of forceps during his birth; misuse of these accidentally severed a nerve and caused paralysis in parts of Stallone's face. As a result, the lower left side of his face is paralyzed – including parts of his lip, tongue, and chin – an accident which has given Stallone his snarling look and slightly slurred speech.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face

Yeah Tom Hank's bird-like hair in Da Vinci Code kinda invalidated everybody's arguments.
