The Mark Cerny Show @ E3

Amazing

Maybe I am alone in this but I have always enjoyed the fact that Jack Tretton was the main man on stage at every E3 Press Conference. He's well spoken and is a fun speaker who cracks good jokes at the appropriate times. He's, I feel, much more loose and not as stiff as other executives that take the stage (Iwata, Reggie, Don Matrick, Andrew House).

He addresses issues and doesn't beat around the bush (him talking about PSN getting hacked at E3). He shows genuine excitement when he sees cool footage of games.

Plus I will never forget that commercial with him and Kevin Butler. Some Kevin Butler/Jack Tretton goodness

No I totally agree. Excellent spokesman and can be funny too.

I called KH 3 and FF XV at E3 but now I want to add Tekken 7 to the list.

Along with a couple of other games that I'm guessing will be added to the PS4's library, launch or not at launch at E3.

So far:

Gran Turismo 6 - PS3 or maybe Cross gen

Planetside 2

New Castlevania game

Exclusive Vita MGS

New Yugioh game

New DBZ game

A Sailor Moon game when the anime starts

New Megaman game for the Vita or PS4

Street Fighter V

New Soul Calibur reboot or VI

Uncharted Vita 2

A couple of JRPG/RPGs

A whole bunch more, yes I'm this hyped for Sony's conference and I do home some parts of this list comes true.

I wish I shared your enthusiasm but that's just setting yourself up for disappointment. Yugioh and Sailor Moon? Really?

I am already considering canceling my PS4 preorder and this list does not help in any way. Launch does not look to have any good (interesting) games (for me).
Will wait until after E3 and then decide if I am going to cancel the preorder and focus more on PC games until mid 2014.

I couldn't disagree more, they need to let MS do their thing and let it breathe for a couple days. You don't want to come off as defensive and reactionary

Maybe you're right. I just think it would be fun, and I would like to be entertained. :) I mean, just showing a glimpse of the final hardware or something like that. To move SOME attention away from Microsoft.

Sony should really do something on May 21st or the 20th. Just something small, at least.

Sony don't need to do anything, really. In a gap between May 21st and June 10th, gaming forum, presses, twitter, general public etc will start comparing what we know about 720 and PS4 and there will be a lot of speculation articles about what to expect at E3. Sony needs to let these events flow into E3 without disrupting it with more information.

Eh, I think maybe announcing GT6 if it is really PS3 only wouldnt be a bad move, considering E3 is going to be PS4 focused. But I doubt they will do anything. E3 is around the corner.

No, those jabs, like the 360 boat in Paris, are just childish, and a sign of weakness.

Maybe I'm a bit childish. Because I like those kind of things. I just think there's a chance to do something small since they revealed most of their hand already. I guess I'm in it for the drama huh?

It should be noted that the PS4 unveiling event was born out of Sony being defensive. Simply put, they didn't want Microsoft to show first. And it was a huge surprise.

I still think that they should wait, however. Their decision to hold off showing the hardware and focusing on the philosophy of the PS4 rather than showing extended software videos was a good idea. In fact, I would not doubt if the games shown will look quite a bit better at E3.

Going first is the exact definition of not being defensive. Both MS and Sony are running their own races right now. We'll see in the months to come how petty they'll start getting.

Heh, it could be interpreted in a number of different ways. You could swap out "defensive" for "aggressive" and it'd still work.

How come most of the gif talent resides at Sony threads?

And what I am looking forward to most from the press conferences are tech demos of games that are still 2-3 years out; something like deep down. These tech demos may ultimately fail to fulfill their promises but right now they are the only things that graphically look a step up from upcoming 2013-2014 games. Just the sheer "wow" factor will be good enough for me.

I think it was the exact opposite. I think they had/have the intention of being very aggressive this time around.

1) Kaz says they'll wait for Microsoft to announce (bait).
2) Sony have their reveal date video come out of nowhere.
3) Sony have a well polished presentation with the ethos of the system as the focus.
4) They have been aggressively courting new partners for a while (Blizzard, Indies, Bungie etc)
5) The vast majority of the HW is mature in design and Sony have had developers working on PS4 for at least a couple of years.
6) The engines are mature, relative to PS2/PS3 timescale. Certain EU developers have been tech researching for PS4 for at least 2-3 years.
7) Going first has granted them a lot of good will from people all around the industry. They aren't playing catch up. They are the ones to beat now.

Oh man, now I'm curious to know what do you think about Nintendo.

anyway, I think it's the first time they are doing things on their own pace.

Planetside 2 is more likely to be announced at SOE's conference where they announce Everquest next isn't it?

I wonder if Cerny is going to show up at E3.

Cerny will be at sonys pressers?

I truly hope Cerny goes on stage again at the E3 press conference.

I would hope the Sony guys have recognized the appeal Cerny has generated and let him be on stage for a good bit.

When was the last time we saw Kaz at E3?

Kaz would show up whenever it was time for them to present new hardware.

I'd love for Kaz to come onstage at E3. He was always my favorite part as a kid.
