A big "meh" from my end. When they can't even completely revamp the UI during races, it feels more like a big update to GT5.
Why revamp it when it doesn't need to be done? So, if there a new in-race UI, you'd consider it a new game? The physics, aerodynamics, tire, and suspension model is all new. I'd consider that all substantial.

Need to see gameplay to see if they've improved the shadows and smoke culling.

All these fancy screens might as well be from GT5. Yeah the tessellation makes the polys even more invisible, but it was hardly a massive problem.

One pet peeve of mine has always been games who do nothing to change the front-end. I mean, the UI during races shouldn't be a major thing to change at all, yet it would lend a breath of fresh air all the same. A miniscule change making you feel it's something brand-new instead of "oh, it's just an iterative release."

Still, I selected that as the most minor thing to change since I feel the other things don't tell me much. New physics/graphics engine? Physics won't be noticeable by me nor by a lot of the GT players, and the graphics engine changes have yet to be shown.

No, tessellation is an optimisation, it means that they can smoothly REDUCE polys as cars get further away, in the end the gpu should have to do less work.

Hopefully it's more like actual racing this time and not just 3 laps with 16 cars. Qualifying, practice, tire blowouts. I want it all. I'm spoiled by PC sims :(.

I bought GT5. Played it for a few months and sold it. Never been a big driving simulator. At the moment, my attention is on Driveclub. GT6 will sell millions anyway.

The Vita would have to have a pretty specific version of the game right? You couldn't just slap this on a Vita cart. I think it'll get a GT, but once this it out.

geez.... DriveClub and GT6 are totally different types of racing games.

different approach regarding mainly Sim or Arcade/Sim

different types of track layouts between the two. (DriveClub I'm guessing is going to be like the old NFS point to point races)

there is nothing wrong with getting both....or if you prefer a mix of arcade/sim, you'll do fine with just DriveClub.

The megaton here is that they are redoing the less than stellar old physics from the ground up. Wow, I thought it'd take them much longer in terms of the development cycle to do something. Major props to Polyphony for doing so instead of making this an incremental update. Tire partnerships definitely did Forza wonders, so GT getting with Yokohama AND suspension companies means this might be something special.

Any word on if there is still a split between premium and standard cars?

Excited.

Am going to be more excited if they improve the car sounds. No more low power leaf blower shit sound please. PLEASE!

Did they mention anything about it?

Well that's a GT Academy car, so we should be able to try it in July.

Yep, that's what I like to hear. If it was just a matter of more cars and tracks I wouldn't be too interested.

It's a matter of substance versus perception.

Luckily they seems to go for substance.

Yeah, I don't get the logic either. You were going to drop $400+ on a PS4 plus games but changed your mind because a $60 game is coming out on another platform? Alright.

Gives people LESS of a reason to buy the new console. GT is a system seller, infamous and killzone are not.

Imagine if Microsoft released Halo 4 for the 360 the same month they launch their next system, or Nintendo released Skyward Sword the same month the Wii U came out. It's the same situation with GT6 for PS3 being released at the same time as the PS4.

Evolution has nothing to fear. GT5/6 can produce such visuals only in photo mode, DriveClub can do it in real-time [even with way better environments] .

Well I'm not saying visually... :p But still, really, good luck to them if GT6 is coming to PS4 this year as well.

The physics engine in GT5 was comparable to any racing sim on consoles, it was hardly less than stellar.

Tyre partnership is definitely good news, same with the suspension companies.

This game has to be for PS4 also. Why wouldn't it be?

Because GT4 and GT2 also released near the end of each system's lifespan. Sure, it wasn't as close as GT6 is going to be, but the others were like a year away from the system either launching or right before unveil.

Why should Sony be interested to kill the Playstation 3 just to push some more early adopters?
