One exclusive down, 14 to go.
WTF? This hasn't been the case...ever.
Harmonix said:For those asking, Fantasia: Music Evolved's soundtrack will feature classical music alongside contemporary hits. Stay tuned for more info!
They delayed todays bombcast because of this crap?
Hahahahahaha what an awful trailer. I liked the still on "Fun." as in that needed to be reassured lol.
I pray it's been optimized for Kinect 2. The fact that it's coming to 360 (OG Kinect) scares me.

If you have questions about our ability to deliver on adapting iconic work w/respect & reverence, go play The Beatles Rock Band. I'll wait.
I would be too if my company had a track record as good as theirs.Drake seems kind of defensive. The difference here is that the reverence in Beatles Rock Band was apparent from the first trailer.
Well, John's being really defensive on Twitter.
I have no doubt that Harmonix is a good developer, and I don't doubt that this game will have classical tracks.
All it took was for them to throw "and over 20 classical tracks from the Fantasia series" at the end and everyone would shut the fuck up. But they didn't, like idiots, so they get this mini-backlash.

All they had to do was throw "and over 20 classical tracks from the Fantasia series" or whatever at the end and everyone would shut the fuck up. But they didn't, like idiots, so they get this mini-backlash.
Say for example they announced a game called "Horses Horses Horses!" But they didn't show any horses in the trailer and instead showed dubstep mixes of riding songs.
That's basically this game.
In visual form, less this:
and more this:
and this
...But, how this game actually connects to that dream of Fantasia, I am really, really, really struggling to understand.
All those famous Fantasia tracks from Bruno Mars and fun.
Can't wait.

Also, why are they using an old Disney IP that has zero connection to the game? With the music they're putting in it, most of the potential audience is too young to even know about Fantasia.
Sounds like Harmonix was making a new game but Disney went to them and said to toss their IP into it, ala Star Fox Adventures. Except here it makes even less sense.
I GOT IT!
It's a game where you use a Move controller and/or a Kinect (depending on which systems it comes to) to, get this, conduct the music from the Fantasia movies!
I wouldn't buy this though.
So Disney calls off 1313 for more Kinect garbage. Fuck off, I hate this damn company.
That was even worse than I was expecting - even with all the negative reactions to the trailer.
Man I wish Harmonix made stuff I was in to again. Amplitude and Frequency were so incredible - and GH2 was great, but it's been a steady decline since then. I guess after 7 years I shouldn't get my hopes up.
Considering Harmonix is far below LucasArts on the dev tier list, I'll take the non-HMX/Kinect game errday. It was either Kinect garbage or LucasArts garbage. Pick your poison.
Well, I think the idea is that this is not a typical game-to-movie licensee where you just take graphics and characters from the property and stick them in a platformer or racer. They're not making Fantasia: The Movie: The Videogame.
This is a continuation the Fantasia Walt envisioned, where this marriage between music and visual art would it'd continue to be iterated on for generations, constantly evolving for new generations with swapped out segments and new creative takes on music or animated (or perhaps now interactive) creativity. And maybe Mickey or another Disney character would appear to help reach a wider audience but that wasn't the focus, the focus was on expression and boundary-defying experimentation with the talents at Walt Disney Studios.
...BUT, how this game actually connects to that dream of Fantasia, I am really, really, really struggling to understand.
The fusion of modern pop and classical seems like it would fit a Disney vision of playing with music from modern to historic and "Evolving" music. And at the time Fantasia was originally conceived, "Classical" music was still rather popular on the radio as well. So those decrying the use of pop songs are a bit off base since Walt was actually using fairly popular music at the time too.
Reading between the lines of that Harmonix guy's Twitter, it sounds like he's not thrilled that Disney chose this as the announcement trailer and thinks that gameplay footage would have much more accurately conveyed what they're going for.
OH MY GOD FANTASIA IS MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD PLEASE BE TRUE.
Please don't be Kinect based, I will definitely have to buy one
