Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive ‘The Last Of Us’ becomes Sony’s first All Formats No1 since ‘Uncharted: Golden Abyss’ on Vita back in W8 2012.

It is the 3rd fastest selling game of 2013 behind ‘Tomb Raider’ and ‘Bioshock Infinite’ and the biggest launch for a new IP since ‘L.A Noire’ in W20 2011. The industry also receives a well needed shot in the arm from Nintendo’s ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ which debuts at No2 with the biggest 3DS launch since ‘Mario Kart 7’ and the biggest 3DS launch ever for a non-Mario title. ‘Grid 2’ (-45%) slips from top spot to No3 while ‘Tomb Raider’ (+53%) enjoys the spoils of a price promotion, climbing from No7 to No4. After 3 weeks at No2, ‘FIFA 13’ (-32%) has to settle for No5 this week, ahead of a resurgent previous No1 ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ (+47%), back in the Top 10 at No6 thanks to competitive retailer pricing.

‘Far Cry 3’ (-1%) remains Ubisoft’s top seller, down from No5 to No7, while the 2 week old Legendary Edition of Skyrim (-6%) falls 4 places to No8. Animal Crossing isn’t the only 3DS Top 10 title this week as sales of ‘Luigi’s Mansion 2’ are up 18%, minimising its drop to just one place to No9. ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+18%) is a non-mover at No10, while outside the Top 10 there is a new entry for ‘Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition’ at No12.

Tomb Raider ffs, It's been high in the charts for ages now, it refuses to go away, whilst the likes of Bioshock Infinite have vanished off the face of the earth. It's probably because the protagonist is British and we support our own.

Nice to see the Skyrim Legendary Edition selling well, I still maintain that it's going to outsell Remember me, even if it's a 19 month old game.

Team Bondi and Rockstar Games' LA Noire shot up the the UK retail software sales charts in its first week after release, after seeing critical acclaim from the gaming press.

For the week ended May 21, the detective title became the fastest-selling new video game IP ever in the UK, tracking firm Chart-Track confirmed today.

I know TR wasn't everyone's cup of tea but its nice to see it continuing to sell as I enjoyed it; hopefully Square Enix will be happier about the sales now and can greenlight a sequel.

MCVUK claims that The Last of Us made more money that "Man of Steel"

But the revenues claimed by The Last of Us are actually very impressive in a wider context. We understand that the PlayStation title grossed more this weekend than new box office hit Man of Steel.

Estimates from the movie trade press say that film made over £3m at the box office in the UK. We're not allowed to share the numbers, but The Last of Us comfortably made more money, although Man of Steel's audience was about three times bigger than the game's.

Great result for The Last of Us. Well deserved too.

I realise bringing up digital sales is a bit of a grey area in threads like these, but I do wonder how Animal Crossing's doing on the eShop. It did really well digitally in both Japan and NA, and Europe's got the Too Many Games promotion on top of that.

Pretty well I'd imagine - the first time the price isn't overinflated on the eShop as well.

Just for curiosity, yesterday I changed the region and went in the English eShop: it was already around 18th in the All-Time eShop Chart (yes, the one with 3DS Only titles, VC, DSiWare, etc.), and 11th in the 3DS Only All-Time eShop Chart.

Still too high in my opinion, and most retail places are now selling New Leaf for £28, so it's still ridiculous. Oh well, any negation's an improvement, but the imaginary "don't piss off retailers" tax is fairly irritating.

They said it sold more than five times the original Uncharted, and more than Uncharted 2.
It didn't sell as much as 3's launch figures, but 3 came out on a Wednesday (more days to track) and TLOU was available digitally day one, whereas U3 was not.
It was *probably* in a similar place to U3 sales wise.
