Every Xbox One Includes a Chat Headset!! + Xbox One Day One Unboxing

-- A company co-opting unboxing videos is a little lame, but doing is months before the thing is actually released is totally missing the point of an unboxing. Unboxing videos are supposed to be launch day or shortly before to satiate the people that haven't got their hands on one yet.

Eh, I love unboxings and I left pretty satisfied.

You could not have a battery in a wireless controller, connect it with a wire and be able to play battery free on the 360?

News to me.

Anyways, even if that was possible, still different this time around. Doesn't use propriety cables (like the 360), just a typical usb micro cable. So yeah, a person from the getgo, can use the controller that came with the console as a wired controller without a play and charge kit if they have a cable lying around in the house.

The 360 cable doesn't transfer any data so yeah you need a battery pack too iirc.

Someone create a new thread just for this so people STOP with the rumor.

I don't think that's thread worthy because the rumor never gained any traction. It was all a pipe dream.

The 360 cable doesn't transfer any data so yeah you need a battery pack too iirc.

Works fine without it. We have a controller missing a battery pack and just use a charge and play kit to run power to the controller.

Cooling. That's why.

They don't want the machine to have any hardware issues at launch. Hence the spacious case with a large fan and plenty of air vents plus the separate power source.

How come some people still don't get that?

It's not just about launch though. ALL 360s, even the latest revision, come with power bricks. Whilst Sony manages to time and time again, release consoles that don't use power bricks.

The packaging looks beautiful and classy ! The console itself is a little too big though and that power brick. But that's not what would prevent me from buying one.

I'm surprised they did an unboxing that early. The console is coming in like 3-4 months.

Very very happy they're including a headset now, and a nice one at that !

Just like a slab of concrete covered in excrement can be hideous yet boring. Yet I could get down with so boring it's hideous. Either way Microsoft have cracked it, if you didn't think it could be done.

You really think that the xbox one is hideous and boring like a slab of concrete covered in excrement? Okay. That's your take.

What if they made it slightly smaller and perhaps angled it the front and back, perhaps to make it look like a parallelogram?

Glad this is finally out. Headset going in wasn’t really a backpedal so much as a collective “Really?” internally. At some point I hope to share the story behind that, but it’s not a 180 the way you guys think about. Doesn’t matter – I’m just glad we put it in.

IR Blaster. Kinect has and IR blaster array built in. Can turn on your TV, Cable Box, etc. so when you say “Xbox On” it will actually power your equipment, switch inputs, etc. (I know, TV TV TV but when you get to see it, you’ll understand.). As someone pointed out, if for some reason your setup doesn’t work with Kinect IR blasting, you can get a cable and connect to the port in the back.

Storage is about HDD space. This is a generic disclaimer. You lose some of the 500gb in formatting (just like every HDD), and we reserve some space. No different than 360 or PS3. It’s just a legal disclaimer, no shenanigans going on.

Be nice to Larry. I know you guys hate him, but he really is a great guy. Doing what he does is hard – being filmed, trying to be concise, trying to be personable and “official”. It’s rough. I guarantee if any of you could spend 10min with him face-to-face, you’d get what I’m saying. That’s my plug for Larry.

4K rated HDMI cable – you can blame me for that. My point was, we have in fact tested this cable against 4K, and made sure we didn’t get EMI interference with our internal radios. So I wanted people to be confident it wasn’t a POS generic HDMI cable – to make it work great, you need to test it with the system you ship, to make sure at full resolution you’re not getting any interference.

By the way – wouldn’t it technically be Xbox ONE EIGHTY?
Thank you sir for taking the time to post here.
Cannot wait for gamescon!

If you're going to include optional peripherals like the Play & Charge Kit for the Xbox One, then you should include the camera for PS4.

Thanks for posting. So does that IR blaster thing mean Xbox One will work with Harmony remotes?

He feels way too intense, and it really rubs people off the wrong way sometimes. There's a fine line between being an 'official' source and person for many things Xbox, and well... the far right side of PR and marketing, which people will always be angry about, even if 'PR' and 'marketing stance' is used industry-wide by everyone.

That's not the same thing. The XB1 controller will actually send the controller data through the USB cable when it's hooked up. That's a big plus for people who want to use the controller on a PC.

I agree. The guy comes from a radio background, don't fault him for being slightly awkward on video.
I listen to his podcast once in a while, he's not as bad as people make him out to be.
As they say; "don't shoot the messenger."

In fact he's really good. I like to hear him, don't think he's a bad person.

Between the console, the camera, and the power brick, it's almost laughable how big and how much space this thing is going to take up for people who buy it.

Also LOL @ HDMI cable PR bullshit.

Yea I understand that. He was saying it would require a battery pack, which it doesn't.

Great stuff, thank you.

How does IR blasting works? Do you have to configure anything, Or through HDMI or some other automatic proces, the xbox is able to figure out the code from each device?

From the outside, I will say there does seem to be a general vibe that the people working more directly on the project are not always on the same page with the higher ups and PR folks. This seems like an example of that...

IR Blaster. Kinect has and IR blaster array built in. Can turn on your TV, Cable Box, etc. so when you say “Xbox On” it will actually power your equipment, switch inputs, etc. (I know, TV TV TV but when you get to see it, you’ll understand.). Awesome. I figured that the "Xbox On" stuff wouldn't work for my setup, since I use a receiver and harmony remote. Nice to know this is somewhat accounted for (and possibly may not need the harmony remote as much anymore...)

And thanks for debunking the 12GB rumor.

One question: my TV has it's Satelite receiver built in - so I guess I won't be able to watch TV through the Xbox One, right?

Oh, I wondered how turning on Xbox One with Kinect would be benficial since I would have to turn on my TV and swtich channels after it - if it just fires up and switch channels for me - that's awesome.

so true! clearly the play and charge kit is included to "bring it level" with the ds4 having internal and a charge cable, so the camera should be too

well spotted ;)

Well then you better include the price of all those AAs your controller will be consuming. Including the price of the Play and Charge kit is completely fair in comparing value since the PS4 controller comes with a rechargeable battery.

Yeah it seems that way haven't seen this with consoles since Sony got rid of the boomerang controller

Don't forget "rumble is last gen". Few months later, dual shock 3 announced!! Rumble is next gen baby!

Add the standard HDD to the list. Ken Kutaragi said: "PS3 won't ship with a HDD because no HDD will be big enough."

No one should ever complain about good 180s or fault anyone for doing it ;-)
