SPOILER FILLED Thread for Grand Theft Auto V for IMPATIENT PEOPLE - Read Rules in OP

I tried not to rush, do a few side missions when available etc and I would say
3 hours
? Maybe more?

You could have driven to the location I'm talking about at any point, but I pretty much stuck to the City when playing as Michael / Franklin. I took a little detour up a mountain into the sticks (where the cable car is) and it was raining and I couldn't see shit.

I think it's the scenery, plus the massive change in character and the situations you are thrown in as Trevor. The game is basically saying to you, "OK you have shit pretty much down now, lets get down to business."
Nice.

remember reading the interview from Leslie Benzies about how they wanted to really throw you into the things more quickly in V than IV, so a few hours sounds good. A lot of impressions I've been reading are saying that the story picks up quickly.

Appreciate the feedback

What about overall look - does it look like what it does in that video.

More or less. For some reason I'm not seeing as much aliasing in the video, but that could be down to the time of day and how the sun shines off edges. But sometimes it really feels like there's just aliasing everywhere you look.

Yeah, not sure I buy the shadow sharpening.

Giving the images the old armchair graphics expert analysis, from years of tweaking on PC, the thing's I'd note are:

- They both appear to be running at the same native resolution. So yay.
- Foliage detail/pop-in is worse in the PS3 build, see here.
- General LOD distance and pop-in seems worse in the 360 build, see street lamp in the top left here.
- Shadows may be marginally better on 360, if just for pop-in. Same image above, see the bottom street lamp.
- Textures are mixed. See this shot, where the tops of the buildings are sharper on PS3, but the wood is sharper on 360.

EDIT: Corrected my PS3/360 mix-up on the street lamp LOD.

The vegetation is to be expected - PS3's memory plays havok with alpha textures so it's always suffered in multiplatforms.

Nice to see it have the advantage in other areas though. Clearly Rockstar is playing to both platform's strengths which is reassuring. As long as they both run well and at the same res and one isn't a blurred version of the other, we can all be happy.

Well if that video is a great representation of how the game looks and performs, I'm happy with it.

I know that people have different sensitivity levels with graphics, frame rate, aliasing, but whats shown in that video is absolutely fine for me

Thanks for the feedback

Dynamic resolution maybe? I also had the feeling they were pulling this in GTAIV. After playing some minutes, the game suddenly goes way faster but it looks more blurry.

That could explain it. It definitely seems more pronounced in render-heavy situtations.

Anyone know if one version is better than the other?

Don't know if i should buy PS3 or 360???

I believe after 8 years of this gen we can finally say.. we are down to comparing if a bush is showing up on one or the other. Either version appears to be rock solid. It comes down to controller preference and where your friends will be playing when GTO hits.

So... you can not pick wrong as far as game performance it seems.

I wonder what's up with that. I can't wait to solve that mystery.

The Sony Playstation 3 version is on par this time? I'm impressed. Now no one can argue unless they want to point out a stupid texture here and there or some really superficial victory. I'm sure some DF comparison will be more technical but they both look good so everyone wins.

It's not a story image (as far as I know) but it's something you might want to find out for yourself.

Depends on how much you like exploration really.

Eh, I don't think I ever completed any game in the series, I play for exploration mostly, and sandbox gameplay.
Not going to click.

Oh man, these recent images being posted have me tumescent. It's like San Andreas all over again with the exploration and hope of hidden stuff.

So I just played this super-ridiculous mission and then spent like 10 minutes searching for the song that plays during it:

(not a radio song, but something that plays for you. Be warned if you'd rather just experience it)
