]C'mon now, everyone thought the game looked like crap the first time it was shown.[/B] But by the time the ND trailer was released a few months ago any doubt about the game should have disappeared.

EAD Tokyo... the legend continues.

No, as soon as I saw it at E3's ND I was sold. Mainly on my love for 3D Land. There were a number of GAF members excited the moment it was shown.

Multiplayer "pointless"???

It's to have fun and ummmmmm.......beat your friends' scores.

The multiplayer looks leagues beyond NSMB just because of the scoring and the crown and that you can attack others.

Yeah, calling something in a video game "pointless" is such a a vapid criticism to level.

Not everyone(not I).

I guess I don't expect them to blow their load that fast, that's why there aren't just one trailer for most games.

The next Donkey Kong trailer will make the last one look basic in comparison is my guess.

BitBlocks review isn't up yet but it seems like it wont be quite as glowing as these other reviews based on this comment.

I bet he'll say
"3D Land was excellent because it was for a handheld console. 3D World should've been more because the Galaxy games were great. This was fun, but it's not as good as the Galaxy games. It has multiplayer, but it sucks because the people I played with was always mocking around and didn't want to play it right. I played by myself and I beat the game in 8 hours. You may say I didn't 100%, but whatever! The credits rolled so I knew I beat it. 8/10"

How was the E3 trailer bland lol. Music is awesome. graphics are unchanged and amazing as always. Gameplay hasn't changed. Sure we've seen more but really...acting like the FIRST trailer and actually the official ANNOUNCEMENT for a game is indicative of the WHOLE game makes little no zeros sense. It was easy to see the shine and potential in the E3 trailer. The game hasn't changed and the hype should have been there since day zero.

To be fair: the game looked like another new super mario game without anything new or interesting.

Then suddenly it looked like goddamn christmas and new years wrapped in one.

That's typical for Nintendo games. Underwhelming reveal trailer, amazing end product. Just watch. The crow for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze will be amazing.

How long till this image goes up on Nintendo's facebook page? :p

Or: how long until they send me a direct message on Twitter and asking me to remove the picture because it shows content of their game :lol

Oh, and that SpielerEins quote in King_Moc's post is incredible

I wonder if there is a party at Nintendo HQ right now. Think they follow this thread?

For us Mario fans this is something to celebrate and be happy about

For EAD, it's probably business as usual and instead of reading message boards they are probably continuing working on their next game (probably the one that was mentioned in a interview but not yet announced)

I think the learning curve was perfect. Sort of eases you in well, especially if you're playing in groups. It gets hard, and post-credits can be maddening.

This. I'm not saying the whole game is challenging - most will reach Bowser without too many hitches, but then it gets tough. Also, a couple of the stamps are really tricky to find.

Damn it looks like this game would be my GOTY, if I had a Wii U :(

I didn't. Yet the more stuff they showed the more promising it got.

Well you guys have a hell of a lot more faith than I do, and I don't think that EAD Tokyo's ever come close to making a bad game.

The first reveal looked like an expansion of the NSMB series applied to 3D Mario. It was completely disappointing back then but at worst I was expecting something passible. Even as much as my opinion turned around these reviews are beyond what I expected. The next few days are going to be painful.

Damn, I have to go and my face is still red from laughing at that gif :lol

I honestly believe EAD is like every other developer except for the legendary video games they make. Of course they want to see how their baby was received.

Well, they're still human (I think). When you finish a 2 year project you don't go on with your business like nothing happened.

Yup. The original Xenoblade trailer made it look like the game plain and nasty. It ended up being the best JRPG of last gen and one of the most beautiful as well.

Well sure, they always adress the fan's and professional's feedback in their interviews and talk about how some things were liked and others weren't, but I think they are kind of used to this now and will try to top 3D World with their next game like they always do

From Eurogamer:

Exhibit A: We need to talk about the goomba shoe. You know, the goomba shoe from Super Mario Bros. 3, a single-shot power-up that appears only in level 5-3, where you find a goomba stomping around in a large green boot - a boot you can steal.

Hardly anybody remembers the goomba shoe, but, behind the scenes, Mario's custodians were playing the long game. Nintendo was just biding its time, twiddling its thumbs, waiting for the perfect moment to remind everyone about that weirdo footwear. And the perfect moment - outside of the odd cameo in the RPG spin-offs - is level 3-1 of Mario 3D World: a snowy playground in which you move through pine forests and over deep drifts before venturing onto a frozen lake where a goomba awaits, turning dreamy circles in an ice skate. An ice skate you can steal.

hell. yes.

Ironic that he's still managing to shit up Mario threads, even when proved wrong. He won, dammit!

He reminds me of that Fox News correspondent in the café when McCain was running against Obama.

He polled the people eating food as to who they were voting for and all but one person raised their hand for Obama.

He then concluded "pretty mixed here"..

These reviews are killer. I can't say I was expecting reviews quite this good. Nintendo is delivering right now.

Great reviews ! PS4 keeping me busy this week and 3D World and A Link Between Worlds on the 22nd... with the Walmart 99$ 2DS Black Friday sale, you could buy a Wii U + Windwaker HD + 3D World + 2DS + A Link Between Worlds for the same price as an Xbox One (without games nor Xbox Live subscription). With the past 12 months of backlog alone on Wii U, you also have my personal favs Nintendoland and Pikmin 3 as well as NSMB/LU, Zombi U, Wonderful 101, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, etc. as well as Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, etc. on 3DS. Nintendo's output this year has been crazy good as a publisher across both systems.

Sure their aim is at the next game but I doubt a game developer (no matter where they are from) will ever reach a point where a product they worked hard for 2 years gets glowing reviews they will just shrug it away.

EAD Tokyo just achieves a certain godlike image because they don't really communicate with us mortals unless it's Iwata Asks or some other interview event. Western developers are generally much more active at Twitter and such. Also part of this is about how closed Nintendo likes to keep their ship.

I was admittedly a bit disappointed during the initial reveal that the big Wii U Mario game was going to be based off of an existing one instead of breaking the mold yet again. But honestly it took me a couple of minutes into the first trailer to realize that 3D Land was already one of my favorite Mario games and anything adding onto that was something I'd be okay with. What I didn't expect was for EAD to go above and beyond, adding things I'd never expect and not just making it an expansion pack sequel with a graphical upgrade. The second trailer blew me away - the graphical fidelity, the worlds, the amount of content and gimmicks, it sold me instantly.

I never doubted it'd be a good game but I didn't realize it'd be another truly phenomenal one until after that one trailer.

Cannot wait to play this. Nintendo, in one game, show more imagination and complete grasp of how visuals and audio and gameplay should combine as a whole than most developers manage in their total output.
