Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Not easy to get a picture that communicates this idea.

Nice roster, but what's the one place between Battlefield, Windy Hill, and Mario Galaxy?

I remember Sakurai saying the 3DS would have difficulty importing the Brawl stages, so recently I thought it'd be a good compromise if the Wii U version had Brawl stages while the 3DS one could get some 64/Melee ones.

Real World Pokefloats is probably the best idea I've seen from this thread. There's only two there that I can't pinpoint, but I think I'd be pretty happy with that.

You know, here's a thought. Why don't we as SmashGAF combine to make our own fake rumor and post it to Reddit and the like? Smash releases come only once in a blue moon, so shouldn't we seize the opportunity and mess with the net?

Hell, I'll even start us off:
-The Mother series will get Ninten as a newcomer. His moveset's the opposite of Ness's, as he uses PSI for Smash attacks and various weapons (Bats, boomerangs, air guns, fry pans) as specials.

I heard a rumor that Sakurai is an asshole that trolls internet speculators with his daily pics and has his cat determine which way to troll everyone every day

Awesome stuff. But Bryyo over Sanctuary Fortress, GFC Valhalla (this would be batshit insane, especially if you saw the trooper's bodies floating in space or the Metroid herd around the ship) or Planet Phaaze?

It's supposed to be Outer Haven from MGS4. I'm pretty iffy on that one.

I kind of thought it would be fitting if the second Metroid stage was the requisite large, sprawling, Temple-esque stage, and I thought Bryyo would be a perfect visual fit. Desolate ruins are also something I consider quite iconic to the Prime series in general, so I think it's an important thing to represent in some fashion.

If Snake is back in, I wonder if he'll primarily be represented through Phantom Pain material (as far as stages and music and whatnot go, because we don't know if Solid even appears in the game).

Maybe a Phantom Pain stage on Wii U and a Snake Eater stage on 3DS?

My cat is friends with Sakurais cat, and he told me that in the next direct, nintendo will announce that, in addition to purchasing the ip, Crash Bandicoot will be the next newcomer unveiled. F2P elements will take the form of costumes, and the ability to purchase final smashes before a match, instead of obtaining them through the smash ball. Also, Nintendo will hold a smash tourney, and whoever wins becomes Iwatas replacement.

The two newest rumors have such great gems already.
mario spin offs: the dk series does have a newcomer and its cranky kong, using his cane attack, wario and yoshi are back aswell, dixie will be an assist trophy to those upset about her not being playable

now pokemon: this make alot of people upset, jigglypuff is the only veteran besides pikachu, well pkmn trainers back but uses different pokemon, greninja, braixen and chespin. greninja is like a mixture of shiek and squirtal, nimble with alot of water/ninja moves, braixen will please alot of people wanting a mage character, using her stick for fire based moves, chespin uses alot a needles and spikes in his attacks and is very physically based, next is blaziken, he acts exactly how you would expect, kicking, punching and swiping at his enemy with a nice fire effect, also new despite alot of people thinking his chances had deminished is zoroark, his character is actually complete and even has a final smash, he makes the stage look like another one while changing between pulling you in and pushing you away, it last for 10 secs, besides that he is very physically based.

-The Stork will appear as playable, with inspiration taken from the babies in Yoshi's Island DS
-Mona was added as a playable character. rumor that she was added just so Sakuri could see how many costumes he could fit onto one character without eating up too much development time.

The Stork+Babies combination is a pretty neat concept though... but you're still a stork. On the character select screen, you'll literally be playing as "Stork."

Forgot the dude's name since I didn't speak with him personally (he's in charge of the event), but he told all of us that this would be the last year for Smash 64 a couple weeks ago. There was a huge controversy over how the brackets were setup and stream times, so some flipped lol and he acted like a baby. Long story short, at this point Smash 64 won't be there next year.

Discussed to death on facebook and Smash 64 threads on Smashboards.

Yeah, it's clearly a made-up rumor, but you gotta hand it to the guy -- Stork is a clever way to represent the Mario babies.

I watched Pokemon Origins the other day and found it incredibly boring. It felt like I was playing the game for the 600th time. It had some charmingly nostalgic elements, though.

If anything from all the rumors is true, I want it to be this. I just really like the idea of Sakurai completely and utterly vetoing the abomination that is Other M Ridley.

So all we got this week was confirmation on Rosalina's uTilt and Ashley as an Assist Trophy.

Oh well, I guess we've had worse weeks. Still, just when I was beginning to think that we were getting info at a faster pace...
