I could forgive SAO's fanservice if it was a comedy or more lighthearted show. Instead they undercut dramatic scenes with ass-shots and that is an entirely different kind of pandering. The desperate kind.

If done with the appropriate tone, fanservice can be fun. Space Dandy did it right, for example.

Actual boobies.

If you watch enough anime do you get a discount on boobies?

Absolutely not, porn is heavily pandered to people who have not had sex

Sexual stuff panders to everyone because people like titties and ass and dick and all that stuff. It gives products attention, it can sell to people who get off to that content

I never got why we're so accepting of Twilight, and yet we raise fits over Kill La Kill. The west is weird

Twilight? I assume you mean Fifty Shades of Grey or something?

But........what if it's still anime?

Heh.

I was being factitious for the most part.

Eh, it was decent, but still bad. The only reason why I watched until the end is because of Satsuki and the Elite 4.

But really more for Satsuki.

KLK is at its best when it's not focusing on the main characters. The second it decides to focus on Ryuko the show grinds to a big stupid halt.

The side characters are a load of fun tho.

This fucking Ikea TV stand has screws that need to be screwed into the top piece of particle board.

But they're so fucking small you can't hammer them in to get any leverage nor hold on to them to get at them with a powered screwdriver.

Fuck

Rewatching it, I still enjoy the first half, though I will agree that after the school trip episode & Takahara's hilarious voice, it does go downhill & it's only a few key moments that really stand out in the 2nd half.

I could've sworn some people said Kill la Kill would've worked better as 12 or 13 episodes, & I can see where they're coming from.

All of the characters in Twilight are 17 years old

And yet the males are sexualized to hell and back. It's pretty much womanservice

But Kill La Kill is bad because of boobies!
For some reason, if it targeted towards woman, it gets more of a pass, but then again, it doesn't appear as often in the public eye compared to stuff aimed towards males, so....*shrugs*...I believe in equality when it comes to pandering towards both genders & such, and I don't know if I want to point towards "double standards". I guess it's just this country considering how more open other countries are while being more strict with violence, but "cultural differences" also doesn't really answer anything aside from "because that country just does".

Kill la Kill went downhill for me during the dull tournament arc. It almost recovered a few times like when Satsuki does the coup on Ragyo but it then shifts focus to Ryuko being terrible with her generic I AM A BAKEMONO!!1!11 spiel which was terrible.

Would have helped to have a consistent theme instead of multiple that never coalesce into anything substantial

Guys, Disney XD kept the plotline about Nate and his friends having a sleepover to watch porn on cable in the latest episode of Yokai Watch. Now, i'm not saying this shit is a masterpiece, but it's certainly worth a watch.

Just saw this today on dvr, you weren't kidding I don't think I've laughed so hard in such a long time

Kill la Kill saved nothing, and Ninja Slayer is way more harm than decent.

Long live Gurren Lagann.

Studio Trigger is super booty.

I tried so hard to stick with Ninja Slayer, but around episode...18, I wanna say, I finally gave up & dropped it. The first few episodes were fine, but then it kept introducing new characters, losing focus of the plot, & the whole "cheap animation" deal mainly stopped being funny or creative.

At least with Inferno Cop, each episode was only around 3 to 4 minutes & was HILARIOUSLY cheap, using same character models but slightly modified, very few voice actors, & was just overall funny. Maybe the fact it was a comedy helped it as well, since the cheapness adds to the humor, while the seriousness of Ninja Slayer (for the most part) doesn't clash well with the cheaper looking shots of animation.

I watched all of Ninja Slayer. I found it mildly entertaining, but I like dumb shit. It's not something I would watch more than once a week, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The show going from 4:3 to 16:9 on the last episode was pretty funny though.

Not gonna lie. I enjoyed the final fight in Ninja Slayer more than the final fight in Kill la Kill.

Uh can you explain the tagged part?
Did they suddenly say "our budget is higher, go go go!" or just to mess with people orr

It happens in the middle of the episode. Ninja Slayer gets his ultimate form, and the black bars on the screen literally break into 16:9

It's pretty funny. The fight actually had decent animation too, except for Ninja Slayer who had 1 sprite during the whole thing lol

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Shout out that Goku &/or Luffy could kick Naruto's ass & see what happens.

Or that Superman could kick Goku's ass any day of the week.

When I went to see Resurrection F, the guys behind me were complaining about that, claiming that even Tien could defeat Superman. The delusion is real.

Porn does not pander to virgins, that is a very naive way to look at the sex industry which makes this comment ironic. It sells a fantasy that appeals to every human being on earth considering there is hardcore sexual content for any fetish you could possibly imagine on the internet.

Kill la Kill gets crap in the west because

1. The outfit and accompanying transformation sequence for the protagonist is embarrassing.

2. It has multiple scenes of creepy incest/molestation/rape scenes for no reason other than to be edgy or pander to sickos who are into that type of thing

3. The narrative couldn't hold up to the expectations set forth by the hype train

Kill la Kill was pretty good for a few episodes

I finished that sentence for you

Why must you make me cry?

I miss you Dandy!

I'd like to see this slide into the 3AM spot, it would have been a much better fit than KLK. Toonami owns the rights so it's odd that we haven't seen a re-run yet but maybe they're mandated to show KLK again before their license expires or something. Hopefully DeMarco can expand on this sometime.

I doubt there's any mandate, they can air space dandy whenever since they helped to fund it where as KLK like AoT before it had a rather specific contract of when and how much they could air it so they're gonna get as much out of their most popular and expensive series.

Hahahaha!

Oh wow.

Then again, some people also think that Naruto can casually blitz Supes, so I'm not too surprised.

Superman sucks as a hero because hes boring and basically invincible

I believe this is the source of the poor reaction to that fight.
People forget that Death Battles are based on power not personality/character. Superman is insanely broken, capable of beyond impossible feats. Goku is just really really strong.

At least with One Punch Man, it was smart enough to acknowledge right from the start that the hero knows how boring it is when you basically have an insta-win punch & has a cool cast of side-characters who probably get more screen time & the sense of scale and intensity of the fights are great.

Yep.

Superman is broken tier. He lives in a world where he has a weakness thankfully, but any battle against *insert your favorite shonen protag* means he wins because they don't have kryptonite lying around.

Except Kirito.

I would make the argument Kirito would win. Superman is designed to be perfect in fights/broken, so his only realistic opponent would have to be someone else who is guaranteed to win, regardless of what logic says. Kirito is clearly our answer to Superman

damn those japanese and their fanservice

That cartoon probably actually was animated overseas

It was almost certainly animated in Korea, like everything else until recently. Now you've got the Philippines as well. Still, the vast majority of everything animated goes through Korea.

It's more of the fact that instead of focusing on the lore of Superman (I mean, the dude has decades of material to work with), they mainly focus of "punch villains" and do the bare minimum. That's why people will always view that as "boring."

Exactly. Goku is strong, but Superman is simply out of his league.
