I disagree, only 2 movies in that list I liked.

Hell, it's just over halfway 2015 and I like more movies this year than how many I like in that year, and I haven't even see mission impossible, star wars or spectre yet..

Two movies out of that entire list? You're questionable.

I was going to do a post similar to this (which is why I had the cover art handy). My favorite year is 1998. In no particular order....

Edit: I realize a lot of people will shit on these movies but I'm not overly critical like most of GAF. I enjoy a lot of what I watch.

Where's Godzilla?

Chmpocalypse

There are other years with perhaps a better top 5 or top 10, but 2007 is the most impressive compilation of films from one year of all time. If I could only watch movies from one year for the rest of my life, it'd be 2007.

Listed Juno, instantly disqualified.

Seriously, fuck that pretentious piece of self-important garbage.

But yeah, quite a lot of great movies otherwise.

Overly critical? Sounds like you like to generalize too.

I like The Big Hit. I miss China Chow.

I take it you have never ventured into any review thread on GAF? Games, movies, etc are either shit or amazing. Generalizing of course like you said and as well as being snarky. But yes, I generally like most of the media I consume. I quite enjoy many "shit" movies.

There's just a lot of bad movies ITT

And perhaps a few hyperbolic posters *cough cough*

Where's Godzilla?

Where it belongs. XD I kid, I kid. I had to draw the line somewhere. I think I will watch it again. I guess I haven't watched it since 1998.

A list with only 4-5 movies produced outside of US , one which includes Transformers....are you really trying to convince anyone of this insanity ?

Just no. Probably not even in the Top 20.

The Bolded movies alone blow away all of 2007

Enemy of the State is probably the most underrated movie of all time.

2007 also has two of my favourite movies about musicians of all time. Anton Corbjin's Ian Curtis biopic Control and Julian Temple's Joe Strummer documentary The Future is Unwritten.

Zodiac man, that movie came out of nowhere for me. I barely knew that movie existed before I saw it, and it instantly became one of my all time favorite films.

I've yet to see a list beat that 2007 list, OP. The next best lists are steeped in nostalgia.

2007 is certainly the best year for Cowboy/Western movies in decades.

For one year there are a lot of very good movies, another year may have more great movies but not as many very good movies

2007 was the year my personal favorite movie came out, yet the OP failed to mention it:

Planet Terror

I listed Grindhouse, which when I saw it in theaters combined with Death Proof and the fake trailers was an awesome experience.

Just no. Probably not even in the Top 20.

I can't think of a year that I particularly liked over other years.

I guess 2008 was pretty cool. The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Speed Racer, Wall-E, Tropic Thunder, plus some guilty pleasures like Cloverfield and Wanted.

But most years only have like 2-4 movies that I loved. Even on the OP's list, I didn't care for most of it.

lol come on now

.

I think a top 20 in an history that encompasses 100+ years is nothing to be ashamed.

With such a vast catalogue of movies produced anywhere in time and in any part of the globe , i dont see how 2007 can be seen as particularly amazing.. Persepolis might enter a top 100-200 of all time. The rest doesn't seem very likely.

Virtually any year from the 70's would blow it out of the water. Unless this is only considering American films, but even then...

I have seen these and another half I have in backlog. Impressive I must say. I am inclined to agree with you.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
OP is joking, right? Because that list is dreadful compared to numerous other years.

What do you guys think of 2006? I thought it was great.

Shorthand list

The Departed
The Prestige
Mission Impossible 3
Casino Royale
The Lives of Others
Dead Man's Chest
Apocalypto
Blood Diamond
Perfume
Crank
The Fountain
The Hills have Eyes
Once
Last King of Scotland
Rescue Dawn

Not trying to say its the best of all time or anything like that, but I thought it was a satisfying year.

Brah....

NCFOM, Blood, Zodiac and Jessie James are all A+ films. It was a pretty good year.

80s were best for popcorn happy blockbusters though.
