1984 was an amazing year for movies

Nothing will ever touch 1982. To be a 12 year old during that year was just mind-boggling. Classics every week.

I don't think enough people here have seen older films to be able to give a conclusive answer.

If your talking about years of films, so many more movies come out every year now than in the '70s, '60s, etc.

Also Zodiac, is GOAT in my book so 2007 ain't bad.

There Will Be Blood and Assassination of Jesse James are my two all time favorite movies, so that alone makes 07 the best year for me.

Whatever year was Pulp Fiction was the best year.

1994. everytime someone makes one of these "best year in film" threads it ALWAYS comes back to "oh right, it was 1994"

I would take any year in the seventies over 2007. Ditto the forties and thirties.

In 1975 there was Barry Lyndon, Jaws, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest, Nashville, Shampoo, The Man Who Would be King, Night Moves, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Deep Red, Day of the Locust, Dersu Uzala and Dog Day Afternoon just for a few examples. It's not even a competition.
