Yeah I usually don't agree with this because someone says it EVERY time, but I may have to say that this is the worst non-tennis event I've ever seen.

Injuries, rain, bitching about players' rights, no Del Potro in later rounds, few great upsets.

I stopped rooting for Serena Williams for a while, too.

But I've really been rallying for her in her comeback. She's been so much calmer and focused. Easier to root for her when she's not being arrogant. And after her health scare you can tell she has a better appreciation for the game.

I have no problem rooting for her after the PE she had. She had one just a month after I had mine, I had to make a comeback in bodybuilding/fitness and she is making one in tennis. I dunno, strikes a personal chord with me.

Like whenever shes playing poorly and down a few breaks of serve she'll make a comeback. The commentators will go on about how she's demonstrating her skill and ability. When usually all she's doing is hitting the ball harder than she was before.

I just find it very boring.

I don't think Serena gets enough credit for her shot selection. She has her preferences, of course, but there's really no shot that she's uncomfortable with. I think this is why she has such a good record against players who can hit the ball just as hard as her...like Stosur and Sharapova.

I like her. My brother likes her ass even more.

And it's nice that in a sea full of clowns and pretenders, Serena is the only one that emerges as a legitimate contender, despite her ranking. She gives the WTA some credibility.

I dont watch too many Sharapova matches even though I'd actually like to.

As soon as I hear one of her goddamn wails I change the channel. So I dont actually know what kind of player she is anymore.

i just hate their smugness and she said and done some stupid things. and i don't like how they play the game part time. sure they still win the slams (which shows how weak women's tennis is atm) but i don't think it's good.

Also....slams ARE the only events that matter in tennis. Everything else is warm up....and if you don't feel like you need a warm up skip em imo.

Why should anyone credit Sharapova's mental toughness when her concentration is poor and makes 40 plus unforced errors a match. She doesn't have the mental toughness to concentrate enough. Her mental toughness is a myth.

If they were really mandatory then there would be some repercussions for not showing up.

Tennis is an individual sport (well doubles but meh). The way you play it is your choice imo.

Sharapova's recent game has been thus:

Seriously, there are juniors playing smarter tennis than her these days. One almost pwned her first round, in fact.

Her saving grace (and about the only compliment I can give her) is that she has crazy stamina. So she can play that level of caveman tennis consistently through three sets. So what usually happens is she gets blown away the first set by the smarter player, but counts on the them to tire out...which usually happens.

But put her against a player who employs smart shot selection and can keep it up through three sets, and she is guaranteed to lose even if they're weaker at racket. Exactly why Panetta put her away in the open, and why Serena shut her up in two sets earlier this Summer.
