Iwata won't stop talking about Monster Hunter, rest assurred he'll moneyhat MH4 for Wii U. Vita will get Portable 4th a year or two later though.

They'll need to have a big moneyhat then, because Tri was a disappointment sale wise and now Capcom knows that a lot of people would buy MH on PS3 ( probably more than on Wii considering that a PSP port did 300k first week ).

Echoing what others have said, realistically speaking, there are far too many announced Vita games missing from that list for most or all of those 18 titles to be genuinely "unannounced."

If I'm wrong, well, we'll know in two weeks. And I imagine Sony does have some significant cards that they have yet to play, in any case.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

It price-collapsed pretty quickly, IIRC. On the other hand, I believe it did considerably better than any previous MH outside Japan, but who knows whether the latter outweighs the former in Capcom's eyes.

Beating a dead horse, but to take the Google translation of the official press release, it's very clear it just means that these are the games announced for TGS as of September 1, and there are 18 others still to be publicised.

It says (google translation):

" list is only available information disclosed by September 1 point. (Other, unpublished titles: 18 Titles)"

http://scei.co.jp/corporate/release/110901b.html

It doesn't at all mean that they've never previously been announced - just not for TGS.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
For Vita, I'll throw in my hopes and guesses:

Gran Turismo Vita
Final Fantasy VIta or Final Fantasy VIIta
Monster Hunter Portable Freedom 3rd
Tales of Symphonia Vita port

Tri met sales expectations in Japan according to Capcom and exceeded expectations for subscription revenues. It was a decent little success in the west too (unlike the PS2/PSP entries) thanks to Nintendo's push. I'm not sure where you're getting your info, but it's wrong.

We'll see how the PS3 port of P3 does in the coming weeks. I originally expected it to easily pass 500k lifetime, but it seems to have really negative word of mouth going.

Nice. Although the the title of VIII's Vita remake will look ridiculous.

Wow, good on Sony. I'm impressed.

And if moneyhats are driving this, I approve 100%. It's an investment well made that, honestly, Nintendo should have done with 3DS.

3DS had near 200, and I think PS2 had more than that even.

In fact, I'm pretty sure PSP had more games announced pre-launch than Vita does now. Even Wii might've had more.

Something cool i could have seen for a quick launch window killer app, would have been an HD DQ VIII

DQ on a Sony console? Not happening anytime soon it seems. FFX would be a more likely option.

It probably won't happen and it'll a big missed oportunity.

Capcom has Street Fighter x Tekken, Square Enix who knows. But it's unlikely they will AAA titles for the launch period. For example, it's very unlikely Square is working on another almost main Kingdom Hearts, and since Dragon Quest is on Nintendo systems, it may have a proper Final Fantasy... But with Type-0 on PSP, XIII-2 at the end of the year and Versus XIII in production? Mmh...

And? Neither KH or RE titles for the 3DS are launch period titles, and the current Vita lineup blows the 3DS one out of the water, there's nothing to say a title won't be announced for release in late 2012 or early 2013, a new KH Birth By Sleep title perhaps (Which has already been hinted at) seems ideal for Vita

Do we know if FFVII really was a success in Japan? I know GAF wants a remake but will it sell (100)thousands or even millions?

Crisis Core sold a bit under 860K total in Japan, so it'd be pretty big. Not Monster Hunter big, but no third-party franchise other than DQ is there.

Simply people are suprised for this support, but for me it seems just normal, on average. I was more suprised to see a proper Kingdom Hearts game, or an almost mainline Resident Evil on 3DS, than the obvious NI / Atlus porting.

I thought they would do it for psp with the Crisis Core engine. Apparently not. And with Vita being a pretty powerful device... The chance of FF7 remake on the platform is about the same as it coming to ps3.

So not anytime soon.

It will happen sometimes in the future, but I do think Square Enix will prefer home consoles.

I agree, but hey, people are entitled to their opinion of the systems' respective announced third-party support. And Sony's TGS Vita conference is in less than two weeks, so perhaps things will look different at that point in regard to Capcom and SE.

Dragon Quest always is released on the platform that sells the most in Japan.

Even though 3DS is off to a rough start, Square Enix will be releasing Dragon Quest games on it (as they've already shown off Rocket Slime 3).

Never been so excited for a hardware launch... ever.

Fully expecting Portable 3rd HD port (considering they even showed it at the NGP reveal conference) while they work on finishing MHP3rdG, which won't be all that beneficial for the system since 4 million people will just buy it on PSP.

It needs MH4/P4th.

I'm prett sure the Vita will get respectable support from both companies eventually, if their PSP portfolio is anything to go by, but it's mostly a matter of "when," as the bulk of high profile titles came after the PSP proved it can sell software. But I will agree that the pledge of support the 3DS got last year was pretty surprising, only surpassed by the choice of franchises thosw companies decided to announce (RE, KH, and MGS3... Regardless of how the latter turned out).

But I think there's a reason for that; Nintendo wanted to get a point across, and fast. That the 3DS will dispel a stigma that was associated with the DS, that it's capable of supporting a wider array of games, making it appealing to more publishers and ultimately to more demographics. They wanted it to be taken even more seriously than any other Nintendo handheld, and I think they were pretty successful in achieving that last year.

I'm still hoping that one of the unannounced PS3 games is a new Siren game, even if they are working on Gravity Daze which looks great. I'd kill for a new full-fledged retail Siren release.

Let's all hope Capcom's Vita library exceeds their meager PSP offerings, lol.

With the first week sales of MHF3HD I have to agree with you.
Is that a joke? I thought it bombed? There was just a thread about it being a bomba no?

As for launch software, it took years for SE to ship a decent DS and PSP game, and PS360 game, I don't think they've shipped a decent Wii game yet. They make molasses look like a lubricant.

Oh, and that Gravity screen is amazing.

EDIT: Actually, DQM:J was decent, that didn't take too long.

287k first week for a port is a bomb?

In all fairness, Capcom threw a lot of quality software early on (albeit ports and remakes), but nothing stuck other than the cultural phenomenon known as MH, so they decided to milk that. I can't really fault them, every pub would have probably done the same :p

Are these lists pre-show announcements? Because there's even big stuff we knew about then (like Crisis Core) that's not on either?

I wouldn't say Vita has more "real" games either, it's really pretty even there in terms of stuff that's likely to have footage or be playable pre-launch. Vita just has less "promises".

Don't get me wrong, I own both Mega Man titles, and the Powerstone Collection. I just would've liked some original games.

You should have bought 10 more copies of each then. Early Capcom PSP titles bombed pretty hard, and the platform was almost deemed unviable.

Well, to be fair it's not like Capcom was bringing their a-game with that. Many were just retouched ports, with a few remakes of really old games thrown in.

Lost Planet would be a waste of their development resources. It's a series that very few people care about right now. They should wait until Dragon's Dogma is complete and get them working on a DMC starring Vergil or Lady (DMC3 version).
