Dragonball Z has no story at all
i actually stopped reading your rebuttal right here because if you don't even understand what the word "story" means, what's the fucking point?
Dragonball Z has no story at all
Also: fanservice is really sad. How would people react if you put the kind of panty / tit shots into a random respected TV show?
Translation: I don't like anime character designs.Mahonay complaint was anime hair and anime eyes which he used ichigo from bleach as an example and pointed out stuff like that key anime and spice & wolf for having it, by anime hair/eyes I think he means non realistic hair or eyes which isnt exclusive to shounen.

Yeah that was a pretty silly post on his part, there's plenty of "fanservice" in TV shows.People seem to like it enough on premium cable, HBO and Starz seems to do alright with it.
HMV has the box version in stock for 8.2k yen (multibuy)!Yeah that's what I was thinking, too.Tax returns, baby!

HBO? Honest? Not designed to titillate?Honestly, when there are naked people in hbo, it feels a lot more honest than the sort of stuff you see in anime, where the entire shot is constructed to tittilate. comically falling on tits, accidental groping, etc

Oh my.

Naruto and Bleach are boring as shit.

If you're cool.Still deciding whether to get the cheaper or better boxed version of Jin-Roh. When will it end...? Will I be adorning the walls of my home with Sky Crawlers posters in a few years time?!
Explain to me the honestly in some of the more gratuitous sex scenes in true blood, game of thrones etc.Honestly, when there are naked people in hbo, it feels a lot more honest than the sort of stuff you see in anime, where the entire shot is constructed to tittilate. comically falling on tits, accidental groping, etc

-That being said, anybody hating on DragonBallZ and its predessesor doesnt get it. Its a soap. Animated yes but a Soap, just like WWF in the 90's. A good soap will beat any intellectual wank fest consering anime just on the basis of its form factor.
Naruto and Bleach are boring as shit.
-As for Crunchy, ooo boy i dont want a perm ban. Not touching why i HATE there guts. Lets just say if Megaupload could go Crunchy should had been gone as well.
But the TV series had a 6-minute sex scene that wasn't even in the source material. For GoT, you can thank the source material.

I'm not 'excusing' anything, I'm responding to your question. Iso put together a great team of artists and made high quality key animation a priority for the project. This is unusual. Great animation is not a priority for anime directors and producers.are you seriously trying to excuse it by saying that the quality of their artists is simply inferior? I wont argue the point, but thats a pretty weak defense.
Dub sucks monkey balls.

Not to mention Iso also supposedly alienated Takeshi Honda (the show's original animation director, who is extremely talented) to the point where he just left because of Iso's excessive perfectionism.I'm not 'excusing it', I was just responding to your question. Iso made great key animation a priority for the project. He also put together a great team of animators. However, great animation is not usually a priority for anime.
The other thing to consider is that most shows cost less money than Denno Coil lost.
Apparently they'll never work together on a project again. Not to mention Iso also supposedly alienated Takeshi Honda (who is extremely talented) to the point where he just left because of Iso's excessive perfectionism.
Also the show kinda cost him his career since it was a huge bomba.

It's a shame, because Iso once more animating Asuka's big solo battle for the next Rebuild movie (which Honda is working on) would be one of the few things that could make me enthusiastic about it.

Thats because a majority of the dubs are non-union. There are some good non union dubs but the union dubs are leagues ahead. Thats all i will say dealing if dubs are bad or not.
Absolutely, but most people funding anime are interested in designing something for maximum profitability through merchandising or filling some nerd niche, not artistry or taking full advantage of the medium's potential.haha fair enough. Its sad though. Its a bloody visual medium. One would assume that you should spend the most time working on the aspects of your art that are unique to its medium.
I'd rather a meh looking show with good writing than a great looking show with poor writing.haha fair enough. Its sad though. Its a bloody visual medium. One would assume that you should spend the most time working on the aspects of your art that are unique to its medium.
Shows that revolve around fanservice aren't my cup of tea, but I think it can be great when it's fit into an already good show. Not all shows should have fanservice, mind you, but I find that most will benefit from it. It's an easy way to get the viewer invested in the characters.
If nothing else, it can be unintentionally amusing in a "Wow. Really, Japan?" kind of way.
Kubo's designs are great though. The dude has a real sense of fashion.
Most dubs do, but there are some high quality ones. Cowboy Bebop, Akira, YYH comes to mind.
It weirds me out when I've see One Piece fans horribly bash Dragon Ball Z and Toriyama, and I've seen this a lot, despite the fact Oda is heavily influenced by Dragon Ball and Luffy is basically Goku, right down to the whole monkey theme.

Denno Coil is one of the saddest stories about the genre. It was too good for the market it was entering.
Isn't that more of a problem with the original Japanese voicework than with the dubs?Whenever I watch something I feel like they try to make the main male characters sound feminine or have light voices. It's irritating for the most part. There are some shows where they can have a great cast and the main character will just ruin it for me.

Probably because they can't afford to animate realistic breasts lolIt's fine if the fanservice is the point, but it feels like better shows are selling out, when they're good enough without it. And other shows do it to mask the fact that they aren't so good. Like in One Piece, I don't need to see Nami's breasts bouncing around all the time, I already like her character.
No source. I could be totally wrong. I imagine it's true though, given it wasn't very popular, it was a huge DVD sales bomb, and it looks very expensive, while the vast majority of anime shows look very cheap. Maybe NHK covered a good part of the budget, but doesn't anime work on a model where DVD and merchandise sales are essential to pushing towards profitability?Source? Do we have any concrete figures about the commercial success of Dennou Coil (which was presumably partly paid for by Japanese tax, given that it aired on NHK)? Not selling lots of DVDs doesn't mean it was necessarily a huge financial flop from Madhouse's point of view.

I actually have a figurine of Luffy wearing the DBZ gi
im 99% sure that they dont have the animation budget to be animating that
(and dont remember seeing it)
They do for movie 7.
