AUG100812 ALAN MOORE NEONOMICON #3 (OF 4) (MR) $3.99

2yr9g.jpg

From the award-winning master of comics, Alan Moore, comes a brand new tale of Lovecraftian horror that will leave you too afraid to close your eyes, but more afraid to open them!

NEONOMICON, the sequel to THE COURTYARD Graphic Novel, is slithering its way onto shelves to take its place as a Great Old One of comics terror! Illustrated by Moore's favorite demented artist, Jacen Burrows, NEONOMICON pulls no punches as every full-colored page is covered in nightmares brought to gruesome life.

Agents Brears and Lamper are missing. Vanished without a trace from Salem Massachusetts. And the only clues available to the FBI are the gibberish ramblings of Randolph Carter and a book of the occult that makes even less sense. But just because no one understands what's happening doesn't mean it's not all real.

The horror as only just begun, and there's a whispering, lisping laughter that sounds an awful lot like Johnny Carcosa... Alan Moore's Neonomicon #3 is available with Regular and Wraparound covers by Jacen Burrows

Happy Reading and Happy Holidays! :D

Legion, Bats Inc, might check out that Thor one-shot. That Robert E. Howard thing is kinda tempting.

Oh, and the Larfleeze Christmas issue. I'm kind of a sucker for sappy Christmas comics, and the DC Holiday Special was surprisingly good this year.

Think the Agent Orange special will be included in one of the GL trades down the line? A risky gamble to pass on it now if it won't be collected...probably.

I can't wait to read FF. All these plot threads are coming together..should be interesting to see what aspects of Nu-Earth Galactus runs into.

It seems so seasonally-specific and probably not too related to other stories, so my first guess would be not likely.

Batman Annual #28
Batman Inc #2
Batman: Streets of Gotham #18
Green Lantern Corps #55
Green Lantern: Larfleeze Christmas Special

Should be a pretty good week, but I'm not gonna lie, the book I'm most looking forward too is the Larfleeze Christmas special. Don't let me down Geoff!

Collected Reid Fleming is hot. Savage Sword looks pretty cool.

Anyone know if the new Legion series sucks or what?

I've been interested in reading Legion too but there are so many characters to juggle as a new reader. Does this new series ease in new readers?

Batman Inc.
Secret Avengers
INVINCIBLE :D

May pick up the Green Lantern holiday special but I've only started reading GL fairly recently and only up to the Wanted: Hal Jordan TPB.

eh, kind of...

the legion is rough for new readers, you might wanna try the latest run on adventure comics where it was superboy's old stories on the legion

but the best legion stuff if u can find it in back issues? (no trade exists) Legion Lost by Abnett and Lanning with olivier coipel at art

Adam Warren posted his Xmas card for 2010...

It hurts. :*(

Good news, however; Emp volumes will be available on Dark Horse's digital store when it goes online in January!

The Larfleeze Christmas special was hands down the best book of the week, I would love for him to get a monthly or even a limited series of his own.
The Art Baltazar & Franco back up story was pretty fantastic as well, now I want to get a Tiny Titans-ized Larfleeze drawing. :D

could be the coolest collector statue i've ever seen.

God damn, Fantastic Four I mean GOD THE HELL DAMN.
Damn it I knew I was forgetting something at the shop when I went today. Wouldn't have mattered; I don't recall seeing any copies so they must have been sold out.

I was so excited for Savage Dragon I forgot to grab Larfleeze X-Mas Special. lolol

What music do you guys prefer for reading comics?

I've been getting a lot of mileage out of Danny Elfman's great Hulk soundtrack.

Thai

Bane was better.
BenjaminBirdie said:
FUCK.

YES.

I can easily say without hyperbole that that was the best ending in the history of comics ever forever.

:lol :lol just stop it.

also, yanick paquette on a catwoman series full time? that needs to happen.

I probably should have paid more attention to it in the OP, but Wildstorm fans should be aware that this week's Wildcats #30 represents the FINAL COMIC to be published as part of the Wildstorm "universe" of titles. There are still some licensed comics to be released in the months to come, but this is it as far as comics featuring the Wildstorm characters go.

I snagged the last copy off the rack just to see how it all ends.

Guys I got my christmas bonus and I want to splurge it some awesome original comic art. Any recommended artists and sites? Got my eye on a couple Quitely pages and an Adrian Tomine piece. Also whats the best way to present and frame? Any advice would be great!

Ended up grabbing the GL Xmas special and don't regret it. Also grabbed Zatanna, and the two Ultimate Comics.

Only read the Xmas special so far but seeing as how Zatanna is back to Dini this month it will be vastly superior to last month's. Beechen seriously has a talent at making good things go bad.

Tucah

you speak so well
The Larfleeze special was everything I could have ever wanted. Give him his own ongoing please. PLEASE.

And goddamnit I forgot to get FF argggghhhh

Buying direct from artists at conventions is good too. Some times you can barter for a deal on multiple pages. My buddy got a great Khoi Pham interior page with a lot of stuff an aspiring cartoonist can learn from, and some bullshit with guys in tights on it for $150-ish instead of $100-125 for the one page. Also it's been stated that if you can buy from the Inker (companies usually split the art between penciller and inker) you can get a better rate on pages that may otherwise command a higher price.

Custom frame would make sense for original art, however Amazon vendors sell inexpensive 11x17 frames that would work with standard comic art sized pages.

Though I'd display Quitely art at the bottom of my toilet. Haw! Haw! Haw! ;)

Quitely is great, when he's not drawing iconic characters. His superhero work is terrible, but his Vertigo stuff for DC is quite good. His superhero stuff might be more palatable presented in black & white, where some of his pin-ups actually look good.

Computer coloring is the new inking after all.

I have no idea where Savage Dragon is going these days, but I hope to hell Erik Larsen doesn't pussy out. There's some crazzzzzzy stuff going on in the book. I'm loving it. All with the caveat that I hope he doesn't hit some reset button at the end of this arc.

Oh, shit. Cameron Stewart is on that? He's done some pretty excellent work on Batman and Robin.

Did anybody see

I went with Lightning Lass as her brother has been leader plenty of times past and that would make for interesting drama.

Fun choice though considering the past year's build up for the character. :D

I just started reading Legion a few months ago, so I'm pretty blind to their history. :lol

I just thought Brainy running Legion would lead to certain hilarity.

I voted for Earth-Man because I thought it'd make for a good read.

So Fantastic Four had a pretty hot cliffhanger(s) :haha

As I was reading through the list I found it particularly hilarious that Dawnstar voted for Earth-Man and that Brainiac voted for Brainiac. :lol

Same. Read it while waiting in line for my coffee. Very good overall, and the ending was quite sad. I do love the maze in the middle.
