it's almost like a jump from a system generation to the next one.
Considering how more and more PC users are using dual shock 4s, Playstation controller icons in games are probably no longer an indicator that a game is running on playstation hardware.
In Things Betwixed there is grass, it sometimes weep slightly, and theIs the grass in the final game, by the way? One of the demos I saw played featured very nice interactive grass that reacted smoothly to the player moving through it. I haven't seen it show up in any of the released footage yet but I could easily have missed it.
Plugging a DS4 into your PC does not magically replace ingame button prompts with images of Playstation buttons.
So what are the chances of a "Definitive" edition of this game?

Or telling people things.I think you guys just need to accept that From just arent very good at optimising/coding their games.

If some random dude on the nexus can do it, what makes you think fromsoft can't?
That would be very shady though and support the fact that they have been lying about the quality they were going to present us.http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/200/?

Hell they left Blighttown in Dark Souls 1 didn't they?
Why should a company spend time supporting a controller that doesn't even have official drivers?

You can download xinput (360pad) conversion drivers for the dualshock 3 with a 3 second google search dude.
I preordered the PC version for 22.89, so let's see how much the game is fucked up here.
There's a 99.9999999999992% chance of a PS4/XBone port. It would be a good opportunity for them to switch the lighting back on even if the original textures/geometry are lost forever.
You do not understand the link you just posted.
.
The game itself does not have the ability to detect if a Playstation controller is plugged into it and dynamically change its ingame button prompts to images of Playstation buttons.
I understand exactly what I just posted.
On the contrary it is actually quite easy to connect a dualshock 3, download an xinput converter, and then drag and drop in the PS3 icons.
You do not.
So do tell: why would this be impossible for fromsoft to do with source code access?
Yes I do. Read my other post (that I made before yours) about the xinput converter.
There is no way for the game to know that you plugged in a PS3 pad since it looks like a 360 controller from the game's perspective. That Xinput converter is simply emulating a 360 pad.
One word.
Drivers.
Wow they even put screenshots with fancy lightning on the game cover , how can you deceive people like that

Find me a single PC game that can tell the difference between a 360 and a PS3 pad.
I came into this thread to chide everyone in here for whining about nothing, but good lord. Some of these comparisons are insane.
I still think that the game looks beautiful on my PS3, but it's hard to believe some of the comparisons being posted. I'm glad I kept myself on media blackout or else it would have severely hampered my enjoyment of this game.
Playing Dark Souls at 30 FPS when it was first released on PC, then at 60 FPS when Durante found a way to unlock the frame rate, it was like a whole different game.
I will never go back to 30 FPS Dark Souls, let alone playing with drops below 30 or massive screen tearing.
Hahah really?
Man this is just bad, worst part is the game is still selling like crazy.
I think that's some of the point of this thread. A good chunk of those sales happened or are happening based on screens and bids of a different build than retail. I get why people are mad.
The lack of outcry from the media is baffling.
Foliage? You mean the green painted wall texture? The right one as ACTUAL foliage. It looks SO much better, it's not even worse. The left one, to me, looks even worse then DS1 and Demon's Souls.
Really curious what game you are talking about. This is getting slightly off-topic, but I've recently played a game that had me select the type of controller I was using in the options to display either keyboard prompts, Logitech buttons (numbers), the PS buttons (shapes) or 360's buttons (ABXY) accordingly.
That said, making this process automatic (or available at all) is extra work for a relatively minor feature, so I'm sure From won't do it.
The community will step up and you'll be able to replace the default 360 controller button prompts with whatever icon set you desire, I'm sure.

The lack of the lightning system and the loss of a core mechanic that sounded awesome is a bust... but..
Can anyone who adored Demon's and Dark Souls comment on the quality of the content in Dark Souls 2?
If they bait and switch the visuals like that, how can I trust them to have crafted a game as solid as their last one?
Even an official comment recognizing the reduced quality of the retail product would greatly increase the integrity of the developer here..
PC version might get the lighting, but look at how well that area is designed in the right hand gif. Look at all the debris, the grass, the mountain range...they aint gonna add that in with an ini hack for the PC version. Its gone, and its not coming back.

Dark Souls is superior to DS2 in nearly every visual category. I'm loving DS2 but the game is ugly as sin pretty much every area I've been to.
So far, yes it looks amazing.
Does even exist any PC screenshots?
What happened to the video posted earlier??? The one with the amazing comparisons, Youtube throws an error.
