hey I kinda like this daily download thing... Anyway to get to older downloads into the game?

I need more 3DS games that do DLC

Apparently the cycle will repeat itself in July. I'm hoping it does because I missed out on some of the outfits (I want my Ayane outfits, dang it!).

They've been doing the hard nipples thing since DOAX2. I was surprised to see it myself when I first found that picture, but it doesn't really surprise me.

Since? This is the only game that was released after DOAX2, which wouldn't have included those costumes anyways. I don't see hard nipples in Dimensions. Were they in DOA 4 or DOA Ultimate?

They were in DOAX2, DOAP and now DOAD. It's also a fairly subtle addition to a couple of the costumes in NGS2 (but when I say subtle I mean it).

EDIT: I just realized this makes me look like a huge perv. Oh well!

Okay gang, I'm going to bump this topic with a sort of off-topic post. I've been watching old DOA3.1 (JP) and DOA3.2 (EU) videos and they just remind me of how much I love DOA whereas DOAD has been giving me the exact opposite feeling.

DOA4 and DOAD do almost everything possible to cater to the player that yells "That's cheap!" with the exception of just giving them a "win" button.

Let me explain a few things about DOA3 before you watch these videos:

1) If you get knocked into a wall, you cannot counter the next move. This made you want to be aware of your surroundings and afraid of the wall. In DOA4/D, you can counter out of this. You're not punished for being sloppy. There is no reward for hitting your opponent into a wall.

2) You cannot counter out of a guard break or guard crush. You're afraid of these tools and you should be. In DOA4/D, you can counter out of them. What advantage does the attacker have here? None. In DOA3, you had tools like these to apply pressure to your opponent.

3) Some moves had frame advantage in DOA3, so if you opponent blocked a particular move, you would still be able to attack without fear of being countered. Again, another tool to pressure your opponent and this made you want to attack. In DOA4/D, most of your moves leave you at such a disadvantage that you're afraid to attack because you will be punished for attacking.

That's just a fraction of items that made DOA3 a better game than DOA4 and DOAD. Anyway, here are some of the videos that I've been watching that I mentioned. I wish I had someone to play 3.1 with... =(

Also! These combos? If the first hit connects, then the rest is guaranteed. You know what that means? Don't fuck up! I gave someone a few pages back grief for posting a DOAD "combo" video because the video didn't actually contain any combos, as combos are items you're unable to break out of. These are actual combos in these videos.

They had changed the tagging control in DOA4 so that your partner will press the button to switch instead of the person currently in action. What happens is that when you have an AI partner they tend to swap you out when you get down to about half life, which can happen at nasty times.

I think you have some influence on tagging out if you hold Back, possibly if you tap Guard. Which unfortunately means I seem to do it a lot when I try to parry attacks.

Has anyone else had this problem: I got the Spotpass Notification, blue icon and everything. Went to the menu screen, "saving to SD-Card" notification came and went.... and then nothing. No Raidou Throwdown challenge, nothing.

I went for a long walk with my 3DS and this game in it. It was really hot outside so I guess I sat down a few times to take a rest but when I came back home the cart was gone my 3DS was empty.

Heh, finally got this, I'm still a bit confused at the insane amounts of moves available, but after tinkering a bit with training I managed to see that there's just a few key moves that vary depending on what you do next.

Still feel like I'm playing in auto pilot :/

lol get used to it 1 basic combo will soar you through most of game.

I got this with Zelda OoT (Zelda day1) and just completed my DLC yesterday. Theres a HUGE amount of figures (i played a 50 round survival everyday with new costume) , completed rest of game,bought figures 3 or 4 times, and just whenever I felt like playing and only have 40%.

So far this my favorite 3ds game...its certainly not on par with a technical fighter such as Street fighter (the game does reward button smashers) but sometimes I just wanna turn a game on and beat the shit outta something and do it quickly.... this does that PERFECTLY imo.

I believe it just keeps recycling (thats been the pattern thus far) so you should be OK.. I started at the beginning of download#3 for some and it just loops.

point of all that was they give you the spotpass updates weekly telling you whats coming up for that week....I honestly dunno if the recycle is seemless or if we went through a few day lag to start the new cycle.....They could very well end it but I honestly dont see that happening soon.

Did anybody else really look down on this fighting franchise until DoA: Ultimate on Xbox or DoA4 on Xbox 360?

I know I sure did. I thought it was a mashy, imbalanced mess.

But then they tightened up the timing needed to pull off the counters, added online play (and GREAT online play at that), and fixed the balance.

I was addicted to DoA4 for MONTHS, and not just because it was the only fighter on the Xbox 360 for over a year.

It was for getting people to buy it at launch. It's a nice initiative, but being able to sell the costumes should be an option as well.

I'm adapting a bit more on the game, still having trouble doing good strings and countering, but grasping a bit more the fundamentels. Getting more fun.

Holy shit, i just found this out tonight from a friend.

Stupidest idea ever. I have had this game for weeks but my 3ds battery was dead for a good chunk of it, and now I missed out on the downloads forever? Why not put up a free download in the store for early adopters and then make it a paid download later on... (yes, I know the store wasn't up at launch...)

It's completely irrational but this shit makes me want to sell the game just to spite them...

Why do Tag fights make no sense? I figured my character switches out when I try to do a reversal but also the characters seem to switch out randomly......maybe when I hold back on the pad? Also, they just punch and kick away even when I'm not doing anythIng, is one character computer controlled?

All in all, I feel like those fights are completely random and are very different from the one on one fights in which I can actually control when my character blocks, strikes, and reverses.

Tag challenges have an AI partner.
Tagging in is done by the character not in the ring at the time (you or the AI).
The AI will, typically, tag out when you're getting pounded really hard or at the first opportunity to do so when you've hit about 50-60% life.
All it takes to tag back in is hitting H.
