Devil's Third on IGN now Wii U Exclusive

Yes I don't understand what happened. Did he really run out of money and/or passion? Did he not want to show this off yet? What's going on? Itagaki is not some talentless hack. Why do the animations, basic mechanics, gunplay, and even multiplayer design just look so dated and unpolished? I really want to understand what is going on here.

Itagaki doesn't code, or animate, or apparently do that much design work.

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

I chalked it up to just HOW MUCH was there...as in substance. Perhaps they shrugged off the polish in favor of amazing gameplay?

I don't know about everyone else but the sheer variety of what I saw was mind blowing. It literally looks like a mixture of every type of action game type that has ever existed and then some.

Wii U doesn't have the power to blow you away with visuals compared to PS4 and XB1...so why bother wasting its power on graphical polish? Use it for a better player experience.

Sure it looks rough, but this is what I think. It seems to have a lot of variety, and a lot of potentially assuming it gets another year at least in the oven. The visuals were never gonna blow anybody away. The online looks like it could be a decent change of pace from the typical military shooters.

I'm not so sure we can just immediately dismiss it out of hand as garbage as so many seem to be doing.

Ok, after seeing the actual game I'm actually even more confused. Looks very rough at the moment. Kinda expected something different. Here's hoping that being an exclusive will benefit the development

Amazing gameplay? Did we watch the same videos? There's every single type of action you might do in an action game, yes, but all done poorly. That's not amazing, that's just stupid. There's no cohesion, and nothing looks fun or satisfying. Just a mess of content all checking off a different checkbox. That's not the focused and intelligent game design I've experienced from Itagaki with Ninja Gaiden at all.

That looks totally abysmal. Generic TPS fare that I would happily pass on. Hopefully they can turn it around and make it desirable...

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

Itagaki directs a talented team of people who code, animate, and design, and they have worked with him for over a decade. These same people are with him at Valhalla working on this game. What happened?

The more I see it the more rough it looks, and the gameplay has no hook to build from, I wonder why Nintendo decided to back this game, or even allow it to be show at E3.

Looked really rough and buggy, but I'm hopeful - they still have time to polish it up, and they have Mario Club to do the QA.

There should be some interesting post-mortems about this game at any rate

like "what the fuck happen did they run out of money" and "ADS in a TPS/action game huh who came up with that" and "holy hell the voice acting/cutscenes is this for real"

The trailer looked neat, but the demo on IGN's stream looked terrible. Here's hoping that they really fix this up in time for release.

This is honestly looking like a DMC2 situation right here.

Feel bad for Itagaki. From what I know of him, his work is his life. He takes it very personally. To go from making legendary games like Ninja Gaiden and one of the best fighting games out there to this.. that's gotta be humbling.

DMC2 was a cash grab. This sounds like a cash sinkhole.

I can only hope that he goes back to the drawing board with it... or something. I know he takes criticism personally. Maybe it'll be a Starcraft situation.

Heh, looking through some old posts...

This guy called it in 2012.

Response to that post is still the same...
I don't think anyone would really care.
Likewise for something like Guillermo del Toro's cancelled game.

Maybe Nintendo's publishing Guillermo del Toro's cancelled game.

I seem to be in the minority, but I can't say I agree with your observations about gameplay at all. It looks like it has a really solid cohesion between shooting and swordplay. In my opinion, it looks quite satisfying, and way more fun than Wet. It just looks unspectacular.

The true test will likely be once we get our hands on it. Even with Ninja Gaiden, I think most people wouldn't really get how awesome it is until they get their hands on the controller and put some time into it.

I haven't seen the multiplayer footage though.

This has bomb written all over it. Graphically unimpressive and weird gameplay. WTF was up with it being 3rd person action, but then going 1st person for shooting? Was really disorienting.

Ninja Gaiden always looked impressive in picture and video. It still looks impressive.

Maybe Itagaki is really nothing without Team Ninja. :P

I heard from someone that this game would involve a lot of shooting mechanics in first-person view, but I never imagined it would turn out this way. Wow... :(

Like for real. Look at the old trailer again. Notice how mobile they are. Notice how quick and fluid they seem to move slicing at things. Notice how much jumping around there is. Notice how there is literally only one shot of a player in cover and it seems to be a stealth sequence. Notice the shot of the player running and gunning straight ahead like "fuck cover". That's not what this demo looked like at all.

I hate to rag on this thing so much but it's probably the biggest disappointment of the show besides that dude cock teasing Vib Ribbon for 5 minutes and then revealing Mortal Kombat gameplay instead.

I've been lashed by Itagaki fanboys for saying he is nothing without Team Ninja and Tecmo's support. But no he's a god, he made the games himself, Hayashi and Team Ninja are worthless without guru. Fucking embarrassing, and here you have the proof how competent Itagaki is.

The original reveal looked more like an Itagaki game than this mess. Everything looks damn generic, and those animations are terribad. The unveil even had better animations. =/ Really underwhelming.
