2 new ports in the span of 6 months after 6 years from the original release. Is it too much to ask for a new game in the series or a Vita & PC port/remaster of VK 2 & 3?
Blurring a blur does not result in a sharper image.
You are putting so much effort into this..cute :3.
PS4 won the comparison, my post are in line with that. good try I guess?
edit:no need to get defensive about it lad. PS4 only users get a quality port.
That's a bit of a silly statement, given that it takes all of 2 seconds to force 16xAF on everything on PC.PS4 uses higher levels of AF than the PC version.

Here's what the PC version looked like for me:
Also, it's the only version which allows you to use my high-res vectorized icon mod:

This and the higher res cutscenes models. As I said, DF seems to have overlooked some aspects in their analysis.
The option is at least there, though, since a PC isn't a console that is locked into certain settings. Would the person who wouldn't bother doing something so simple even care about the comparisons presented in the article? While true, the 'force 16x AF through driver' argument is kinda flawed imho.
I mean, out of the hundreds and thousands of VC owners on Steam, how many of them who actually do that? Is the little trick well-known to the average joe? I believe this DF face off is targeted to those majority of gamers. Because after spending like 30 hours in VC, I've never actually did it either.

the kind of people who watch these performance comparison videos would be up to the task i bet.
this "trick" is as easy as going into a games options and changing settings.
That's a shame they didn't add that for this port, would've been a nice extra if not too taxing. These remasters make me wish for a Canvas engine 2.0.
How so, they should always use the base PC game for these face offs or it would be a never ending article. This and the higher res cutscenes models. As I said, DF seems to have overlooked some aspects in their analysis.

Should I buy this on the PS4 or my PC with a 980 Ti?
I thought PS4-XBO DF wars were something... but God, why PC users can't give a break? of course you can mod everything, but here they are talking about default game.
PS4 version is better than the vanilla PC version. Mods and driver level adjustments turn the tides.Wow PS4 version is better than PC? Nice.

Well thats obvious as that is the point with user mods.
Point taken.Even then, this isn't true at all levels. Water reflection are missing in the PS4 version. Basically it all comes down to blurrier AA which is fixed by downsampling and AF which is fixed at driver level.
Well thats obvious as that is the point with user mods.
Base game on PS4 doesn't have reflections and doesn't use AF neither mipmaps creating a lot of shimmering in distance textures. You can't fix those problems. In PC, mipmaps are used so you can force x16 AF, use better AA, better resolution, better textures, better map icons, .... and "Gallian Crossfire" rebalance mod to improve the gameplay.
But whatever.
Thinking of mods, I suppose it's pretty much impossible, but I would love to see those awful pre-rendered cut-scenes replaced.

Why when the res they are comparing is 1080, we all know PC can go upto almost any res you want and you can mod the game to bits there needs to be a base line in these face offs or what's the point.Does the base PC game run @ 4K? 8K? 30 hz, 144hz?
Having a wide variety of set ups and thus embracing and representing how the PC version scales IMO belongs to what is considered teh PC versions... all the way to extremely simple mods which make the game that much better.

If DF are taking the official game as it is when you boot it up as the comparisons between the ports, it makes sense for you guys to omit unofficial mods, even though its obviously an option for users.
Would imagine it is a like-for-like out of the box (bought on PSN vs bought on Steam) comparison DF are doing.
What % of PC Gamers would apply driver level fixes and mods?
Would only be the hardcore. Didn't the Steam survey say the majority are still running below 1080p?
They didn't overlook anything DF doesn't review mods they review a game as it is presented vanilla. They have always done it that way because including mods would be a pain for the reviewers. This and the higher res cutscenes models. Playstation 4 version is best version. Man, everyone should use Sega's devs to do these console-to-pc ports.
Learn from these guys, Namco Bandai.
Ok. They're talking about the base game though. Most of it can be fixed by driver settings and also has this mod gem for VC.
PC is still the best choice.

The water reflection is a bit strange to overlook but otherwise I thought their whole prelude was about how they only use the options provided in the game. Or am I thinking about a different group?I didn't said they overlooked things because of not reviewing or taking mods into account. I said they overlooked things like reflections on water for exemple (which is the base game) or the texture filtering comparison at driver level, to see how the game behave on that matter.
What if people have no idea that the problem is actually exist?
I mean, people who just buy the game, download, and play without reading about the tinkering and stuff. This article is the easiest method for those kind of people in deciding which version to buy.
I'm quite confident to say that I'm not new to PC gaming and I modded my games a lot. But I had no idea that VC's AF is set to low by default, and you have to force it through gpu driver to fix it. The option is not there, except if there's the option to set AF to x16 in launcher or in-game graphic settings. It's been a while and I don't remember.
It's generally a strange position to ignore reality due to the ignorance argument.

Edit: Should add I agree with you pc is the way to go if you have a half decent machine just defending DF for not using mods or in tweaks in a review.
stop embarrassing yourself
PC will always have the best version as long as mods and enchancement tools exist, there's no doubt about thatWhich is fair.
In a world without driver tweaks and mods, the PS4 has the best version. I feel like I'm stating the super obvious.

lol it is always a minefield. one post can cause 2 pages worth of shitposting
