Hi everyone!
I wanted to do a proper tutorial time ago, but I couldn't because I don't have too much time lately...
Like some of you will have noticed, the DS4 battery is not as good as it could be. It takes near 7 hours to be fully discharged while the DS3 ones lasts at least the double.
So I started searching for a 2000mAh battery. I found a lot on ebay for less than 7 and I thought that once opened I should give a try to the Xbone sticks, so I bought a pair for less than 2 (in ebay too).
My DS4 sticks are perfectly, but I wanted to see which feels better.
First of all, sorry for the photo quality. I hadn't have time to build a photo studio while I was dismantling the pad.
1) There we have the new battery (2000 mAh) and the sticks
2) A comparison of the new sticks with DS3 and DS4 sticks. I really don't know what happen this gen that both (Sony and MS) have reduced the size of the sticks. I like bigger ones
3) First: to separe the two sides.
Keep the screws near. It's easy to lose them
4) Here we have a comparison of both batteries. Same size, double capacity.
5) Take care with this little motherfucker. Is easy to remove, but is even easier to forget and give it a pull...
The two pieces separately:
6) Changing the sticks is pretty simple: You only have to pull from the bottom and put the new stick, pushing like when you press R3/L3 buttons
7) Finally, put together everything, including the new battery
8) Final result:
Conclusions:
- Sticks are good. Is easy to notice the difference in materials. The xbox one sticks are made with better plastic and the grip is better too. Nevertheless I like the size and the height of the DS4 sticks.
I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. Is matter of preferences: For me, if you haven't any problems with the rubber, I think DS4 sticks are more comfortable.
- The battery change is fantastic. Couldn't say more...
