Everybody should play Steamworld Heist. It's got immeasurable charm and plays beautifully.

I already have All Stars Racing from the Sonic series (thanks to PS+), but my nephew is getting into games and really loves Sonic at the moment. That said, I know of the troubled past that Sonic games have had... so please help me out here, which of these games are worth getting?

Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure™ 2
Sonic Generations
Sonic Heroes
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4 Episode I
Sonic the Hedgehog™ 4 Episode II
Sonic Unleashed

Any help would be much appreciated!

generations is a must. i loved adventure 1+2 back in the day, but they aged poorly.

stay the hell away from heroes (ps2 classic) and unleashed. sonic 4 is not really bad, i just hate the art style/visuals.

i think generations is really the way to go here.

If anyone in the EU has yet to play SOMA then please, for the love of God, grab it now. €5 (£4.09) is an absolute steal for one of the best games of 2015. One that will stick with you for months after you finish it.

I'm looking at:
  • Beyond Eyes - Didn't review too well but cant pass it up for £2.79
  • The Escapisis (walking dead) - TBH I know very little about it but it's a walking dead themed game so can't be too bad. (if you forget about survival instinct)
  • Catherine - Never played it before but heard a lot of good/weird things about it.
  • The Banner Saga - Been looking at this for a while. Art style looks great.
  • Shadow Of The Beast - No a big fan of side scrolling beat em ups but for £6 I may give it a whirl.

Beyond Eyes is really not that great, but if you're eager to give it a go at least you won't waste much money on it.

SOMA for a fiver? Yes Sir! Almost bought it yesterday from US store for 11$. Now I might as well grab either The Vanishing of Ethan Carter or Everybody Goes To Rapture.
Which one is better?

Thanks for the heads up guys. Just bought Generations. Hopefully keep my nephew busy for a while until some of the LEGO games drop in price!

ethan carter imo. also much better performance (both have issues, but at least carter doesnt frequently drop below 30 fps).

I see some games in the Sale page without discount, like Pier Solar and Super Stardust: are they not on sale? I'm kind of interested in Pier Solar...

I don't know what I'm doing to myself buying Enter The Gungeon, and now Titan Souls. It's almost as if I want to give myself a heart attack.

Tell me about it. Brutal games.

Do not buy Just Cause 3. Avoid it. It is TERRIBLE on PS4.

Is it really THAT bad?

Looks like EU PSN is starting to do weekend deals now, last week we had Uncharted (I think), this week we have a number of titles

https://store.playstation.com/#!/de-de/mega-wochenend-angebote/cid=STORE-MSF75508-MWDEALS16

Just Cause 3 for 22,99€
Arkham Knight 19,99€
Metro Redux (both games) 6,99€

seem to be the best deals, the rest of the prices are kind of meh

I can dig weekend sales. More sales the merrier!
Metro Redux price is too good to pass up.

I bought Guacamelee in the sale for Vita for £3.29 and just realised I could have got a bundle (that wasn't listed on the sale page) for £3.99 that included all the DLC (worth £3.28) and the OST (worth £5.29). Would I have any luck if I contacted Sony - like buying the bundle and having the original refunded - or am I SOL?

It's worth a try, surely?

Is Salt Vita compatible yet? Waiting on that to jump in..

Apparently not, at least according to the game's listing on the PSN webstore.

After posting the other day saying I bought Titan Souls, I've now completed it. Wasn't actually nearly as difficult as I expected and I'm very much an average gamer. Yeah it had some frustrating moments, and it sometimes took me about fifteen attempts to kill a boss, but each fight is over so quickly that you don't mind the constant restarts. You just have to be patient (whilst running, a lot) and learn the boss pattern, then they become easy. Like any boss fight in a game really.

Just to re-iterate how bad Just Cause 3 is.

I purchased the XL version on sale. Afterall it couldn't be that bad could it. The internet is full of hyperbole, everyone criticized Assassin's Creed Unity on release but I managed to play through that ok.

But Just Cause 3 is unplayable, during any action the frame rate drops to almost single digit fps.

Look at this video from 1:40 to get an idea of what you're in for https://youtu.be/RPMbWwDFVCY

Games like Just Cause 3 highlight why we need a refund policy for digital games on consoles.

The frustrating thing (aside from feeling like I was robbed of my money) is that deep down there's a game that I'd find pretty fun, but it's not playable in it's current state. The only positive is that I didn't pay full price for the XL version as I'd have been really pissed off.

Has anoyne played White Night? It has tons of good ratings on PSN but I've never seen anyone talking about it.

I haven't played it, but it's one I've had an eye on for a while now. Looks a bit like the original Resi in how it's designed, although I don't think it's as polished.

Can't you phone Sony and try to get a refund? It's bollocks that we have to jump through so many hoops, but they seem to offer refunds occasionally.

That's pretty much exactly what caught my eye, seems like a classic survival horror at first glance. But since no one ever mentions or recommends it, I don't know if it's worth it.

It's a shame you got screwed over, but the internet is not always full of hyperbole. I've been on my own mini-crusade against this game since the patch released and destroyed it whenever someone mentions that they're even considering purchasing it.

I agree with you about the game being fun underneath the complete technical incompetence on display through its performance, but even if one day Avalanche did get off their asses and fix their mistakes, I'd still be too soured on the franchise and the studio at this point to enjoy it, personally.

Just remember the next time you're in doubt - Where there's smoke, there's (usually) fire.

I could try, and maybe I should rather than complaining and doing nothing. Afterall they did refund when there were issues with Driveclub for example.

But my previous experiences with Sony's customer support have not been positive, and something that should be so simple is often made so complicated.

To be honest I'm shocked that a proper refund policy is not in place. I'm sure it will happen eventually, and the moment it does is when we'll see less examples of broken games, as they'll take notice when people start requesting refunds.

As things stand there's no real incentive to fix things. Do you think they'd have pulled Arkham Knight from sale on the PC if there was no refund policy on steam?

Oh yeah I know that often comments on forums etc aren't always misplaced, but it's quite common to see people describe games as unplayable when that's not completely true.

Unity was a good example of that, the uproar on launch was really bad, and some people still consider it unplayable but that's not been my experience at all. Yes there's defintely framerate drops but nowhere near Just Cause.

Just Cause 3 is on of the few games that I can hand on heart describe as completely unplayable. I'm shocked that some people stated (on another thread) that they have not encountered any drops at all. I had the a slideshow start early on in the game where you have to escort the pickup truck and fight off the helicopters etc. I just don't believe anyone that says they have no framerate drops on the PS4.

It's unlikely but I'm still hoping for an increase in performance when Neo arrives.

sucks to hear about JC3 performance.

I LOVED #2 on ps3, i thought it performed fine.

Have the devs responded at all post-patch?
Wonder what it is that is making it choke

This is what I don't trust about digital purchases. I wish there was some proper procedure for claiming no-fuss refunds. Like a two-hour window such as on Steam.
Out of interest, is that 2 hour window on Steam from when you first play it, or when you start to download it? Because it takes me more than 2 hours to download anything on my connection.
