It's cool and all and I loved FF7 Remake, but I just want to play the main story. Why are they making all this extra stuff?
Given how rough some places looked in part1 maybe they want to wait until there are enough next gen consoles out there to avoid becoming the next cyberpunk.

Love me the extra fleshed out tale about Wutai and Yuffie, in the original she was a throw away character without any development or real interactions beyond her initial recuritment quest, all of it was because she was a missable character like Vincent, same thing goes for Wutai.

That’s what i wanted from a remake, to develope aspects that were lacking in the original and expand on it, i don't care if it's divided into 3 games when there's effort and care put like in part 1.

People nowadays are so whiny and negative about EVERY. SINGLE. THING! Frankly the fourm is unbearable these days.

.....That is complete and utter bullshit. Yuffie was not at all a "throw away character" she most certainly has character development and many interactions with the cast throughout the story and gives her opinion about much of what happens. She was optional yes, but pretty much everyone who played FFVII wound up recruiting her and enjoyed her goofy and ridiculous character.

Did you play FFVII? if you did you don't need to make bullshit up to justify your like of the remake.

Yeah fully agree with this. As far as I’m concerned all the people moaning about the game being too many parts, can’t actually be fans of the game otherwise why don’t they want as much of it as possible? It’s easily my favourite game of the last 8 years, and the original is my favourite game of all time so why would I possibly not want more content in June? Seems to be a large number of gamers these days who simply buy every single new release even if they have no interest in the game and know they’re going to hate it before they even buy it. I even saw one person on Twitter say they hated the game, but would happily play it again if the PS5 upgrade was free for the PS+ copy of the game. I mean how can the developers prioritise pleasing fucking idiots like that Jesus wept.

Well, I got bad news. Final Fantasy VII Remake isn't really a remake. It's a sequel and the story assumes you've played the original game.
Nah, it just sets up mysteries that new players can immediately answer if they go back and play the OG. but they could also just wait for part 2

Oh really? What's her character arc? She stole your materia and then you fought the boss she unleashes and then she says she's sorry and joins your party and gives you back your stuff, that's it! And i can't recall any (if at all) interactions that she has in improtant story beats that even comes close to that of the main party members, not when Cloud was about to kill Aeirth in the ancients city, and not when going into the final dungeon and facing Sephiroth whom she has business with or grudge against, her lines are just.... Sort of generic npc lines, similarly the country of Wutai (and even Avalanche itself) is under developed and basically just a throw away enemy group that exist to develope Shinra and only read about in text and don't see their actual threat/members.

Please show me these interactions and arc that Yuffie has it's been like 5-7 years since i last played FF7 to completion.

And as for me being here, the way i see it it is you naysayers that shouldn't be around news about a game you dislike and have repeated your 3 points of dismay over and over again in various threads.

1- You dislike that some of the story was changed and want it to be 1:1 remake.
2-Some dislike that it's not turn based.
3-That it is not a complete remake of the whole game and that it's broken up into 2-3 parts.

Thanks, I get to disregard everything else you've said prior to this. Play the game and you'll have all your answers.

Regardless of how people felt about the game they have an investment in this franchise, that's not going anywhere.

You however seem to be truly distressed by them, so why continue to expose yourself to this board you claim is so insufferable now?

This is probably one of the stupidest comments on this subject to date. People aren't made of money, and no one wants this to drag out, regardless of how good they think it is, quality always suffers greatly when people attempt to milk franchises for all they are worth for as long as possible.

Why are you playing in English? Gears of war in French?
That's on you.
So making this game sound like a gay porno was a deliberate choice to punish the gaijins? It all makes sense now!

(Seriously, is there less of this crap in the JP audio? Someone told me it’s louder in the English version but I haven’t compared for myself)

It's louder and there's more of it in English. It's very strange.

Dude I've finished FF7 more than 7 (Heh) times in these past 23 years and with multiple party members and your failure in showing proof to back your claims actually exposes you.

Secondly you talk about investment in the franchisebut this just one game in it, i dislike 12 and 15 but i don't go shitting on the guys who love it and ruin their parade.

My post about the fourm being insufferable was a comment about the current pandemic of console warring shitting up the place where actual game discussion is buried under a pile of bait threads, feel free to ignore my posts if you like my friend we're just talking about meaningless shit in the end of the day, good day/night to you sir.

You didn't show any proof to back up your claims either dude, but you certainly showed evidenced the fact that you don't know what you're taking about when you admitted you haven't played the game in almost 7 years.

This is literally the future of the franchise, people are going to comment. If people sharing their negative opinions about something you like is enough to ruin it for you then I can't imagine you like it very much. You can literally ignore all of that shit and only engage those with similar mindsets if you so choose.

Okay lol, I can agree with this much. Good day.

If you were a ninja attempting to infiltrate the capital city of your enemy, would you:

A. dress all in black and enter at night time

B. dress and act like an inconspicuous local

C. Enter in broad daylight wearing a cutesy animal costume on your top half and hot pants on your bottom half

Most GAFFERs wanted option C though for "ahem...." purposes.

Well Cloud and Barret are not exactly subtle, Barret was openly intimidating people on the train home from the bombing. And walks around with his gun arm in full view. Cloud i can forgive at least a little as he does have a Shinra uniform on.
I think Shinra picked up its goons from the same place that sold the Empire in Star Wars, its troops. Lack of Awareness INC. You got enemy's? Need goons to take them out? Come down to our show room today and we can get you fitted out with goons that cannot shoot, cannot fight and cannot pick out your enemy's today.

LOL yeah I laughed at that part. Cloud and Barret just blew up a reactor and now they’re riding around on public transportation openly carrying weapons, getting into arguments with random Shinra-supporting strangers.

That would be like riding around on the New York subway a few days after 9/11 wearing a turban and a bomb vest, and arguing with anybody who says something mean about Bin Laden

I’m hyped for this. Call me a fan girl, I’m very interested in playing FFVIIR again with better hardware and some freshly pressed DLC. Now to uh...secure a PS5.

Yuffie seems like she would be super fucking annoying as a fully voiced/mo-capped character. Hopefully I’m wrong.
If they lean too far into her annoying side in the Remake, then that definitely means they're going full on Edge Lord with Vincent.

I loved my time with Remake, though I wasn't a fan of the side quests (which were optional and could be skipped if one was so inclined to do so), but the combat was weighty, fun, and frantic. Most fun I have had with a Final Fantasy battle system (at least on its NG+ difficulty) in a long while.

Excited to replay the game for another platinum trophy and see the new content.

just listen to all this grunting and sighing. Yuffie’s cutesy squeaks will add a whole new dimension to all the awkward anime vocalizations

It's really horrible in the English version, which is a shame because the voice acting apart from that is...alright. But the constant grunting and sighing and moaning made me ashamed to play this game in front of another human being.

The japanese version is funnily enough a lot toned down on this issue. The problem is that playing in japanese will make you miss the funny conversations during battle which are not subtitled.

Wasn’t there some materia you could only get through doing the side quests? And some weapons (nail bat is the only one coming to kind atm)?

So doing the side quests was optional, as far as completing the game goes, but you missed out on some useful items if you skipped them so... I dunno, just thought it was worth mentioning. But yes I agree, the side quests were pretty bad. I’m hoping they use FFVIIr as a learning experience, take the negative feedback to heart and make changes in future installments. I enjoyed my time too, but I think the experience can still be improved.

And I reeeeaaalllly need them to open up the world for the next installments. I can’t do another 140 hours of hallways 😩 FF appeal has always been how open the world was: exploring, fishing, chocobos, towns, caves, hidden chests, hidden dungeons and fiends, etc. They really need to have it feel more open world to keep me interested. If they do that, they can just lump all the side quest content into exploring the world, and not have it be a list of fetch quests in each town. It can just be hidden, optional stuff you find in the open world map that nets you some nice materia or weapons.

On the side-quests, I don't think they were as bad as advertised. It's mainly the first set of side-quests in Chapter 3 that are incredibly lame across the board. It was especially jarring going from those first two epic chapters where you bomb a power plant and travel through the aftermath.... to then moseying around finding cats for kids at the daycare. But the side-quests and activities in Wall Market are pretty entertaining, funny, and varied, while the last set of quests in Chapter 14 are more mixed, with some lame quests and some cool ones like the quest to hunt the Behemoth in the underground lab you heard earlier in the game, and the one to find the "angel of the slums" for example.

I'd say the side stuff is more of a mixed bag rather than being straight trash like we often hear, but certainly room for improvement as overall it didn't match the quality of the rest of the game. All in all, with the nature of how Part 2 should be, I think we'll see better side stuff and just more open exploration in general. I don't think they should go full open-world, since they should retain the production values of the first game that made the game stand out. But who knows what they'll be able to pull off by going PS5 exclusive.
