I get it now. I understand why you want Half-Life 3

Disagree. I've never been able to force myself through Halo 2's campaign, even at the time. Halo 2's multiplayer was revolutionary for consoles though.

Half-Life 2 has long vehicle sections, that some believes adds to a feeling of "meandering pacing," but that's about the only flaw. Gunplay was insanely good and the level design was very thoughtful.

Halo 2 had much better gunplay, and even pacing than half life 2. Half life 2 guns just don't feel like they have any punch.

I genuinely don't see what other people like so much about Half Life 2. I loved Half Life 1, but Half Life 2s best part is basically the opening 20 minutes. Once you get on the boat and start running around in the train yard and sewers it's basically downhill from there. Rsvenholm is sort of ok, but overstays it's welcome.

And the levels IMO are mostly annoying.

boat: trash
Buggy: trash
The whole part where you are avoiding walking on dirt because of ant lions: not fun

I kept waiting for it to get good and it never did. It also has shit production values compared to Halo 2. The voice acting is across the board awful.

I actually still don't get it. There was never any indication from Valve that they were working on a Half-Life 3.

It's like people took the fact that Valve was struggling to put together Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and instead substituted reality with wishful thinking.

HL3? lol OP crazy

No, that achievement goes to Kojima's landmark bait-and-switch in MGS 2 when you realize you will actually be spending 90% of the game as Raiden. It still hurts...

But MGS3 made up for it. Even though I like the bait and switch for the purposes of enhancing Kojima's point about information manipulation I do agree it must have sucked at the time (first played MGS2 in 2009 or 2010).

It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

In some ways yes, and everyone should play it (if nothing else than to join us in our suffering to ease the pain/add to the demand for HL3 so Valve can't ignore us), but I can understand wanting to avoid the issue entirely, as there are non-doomed franchises to care about instead. There's no reason not to play Portal 1 and 2 though so they should at least yet that I'd say.

Nobody is expecting Episode 3 at that point, that's why people are waiting for HL3.

Hl1 was cool. Didn't care for 2. HL3 should not be made. It is bigger for never having been created than if it were. It might as well just remain a meme.

There is also the scientific fact that Half Life 2 is the best FPS of all time, so it makes sense that people want HL3

Welcome to the club.

Now you're stuck in the club.

Congrats

I don't know ow why they didn't just put out a god damned 4 hour long ep 3 and end the story decently enough 11 years ago.....

I still love how Half Life 2 plays. None of the overdone heaviness you see in so many modern shooters. No overly-long dragged out animations or clunky transitions between regular movement and sprinting. Just smoothness.

Remember, the best way to get Half-Life 3 is to write "Valve doesn't make games anymore" to every Valve related thread from now on. Not only does it make you seem real snarky, but also really cool.

I'm not going to even bother playing the Half Life series until it gets closure with a third episode or third entry. If the ending really hangs on a cliffhanger, I wouldn't be able to handle the wait.

Episode 3 or HL3. the naming doesn't matter. Episode 3 was announced back in 2006. We're waiting.

Valve has never announced Half-Life 3, sure, but the various "HL3" strings that have been found in game updates over the years and the two JIRA leaks in 2013 collectively make it abundantly clear that Episode Three was canned in favour of a fully-fledged sequel. (Remember, Episode Three was in production alongside Episode Two, so Valve was most definitely not working on Half-Life 3 before deciding to put Episode Three on ice.) The question shifted from "Is Episode Three still happening?" to "Does Half-Life 3 even exist in a tangible form?" quite a long time ago, and for good reason -- because it's a thing. Not Valve's priority, clearly, and who knows if it's even in active development. But a thing nonetheless.

I played Half Life 2 only like 2 or 3 years ago and i barely remember what even happened in the game, I don't even remember what the ending was. I didn't bother playing the Episodes either because it was so boring.

No idea what people see in the gameplay and the story, utterly forgettable experience.

Yeah. My confusion came from the calls for Half-Life 3 that predate all that. It's now quite clear that Half-Life 3 has been started and abandoned a few times.

There will never be a Half Life 3. Valve will instead release Half Life 4 next which will pick up from a cliffhanger ending of a conceptual Half Life 3 that we'll never have gotten to play.

Play the Episodes OP, but just know that you will spend the rest of your life longingly waiting for closure that will never come. The agony! The pain of it!

And I would do it again.

I played Half-life 1&2 for the first time 2 years ago and still think they are the best shooters i ever played. More compelling story and world then cod and crysis and better gameplay then bioshock.

That's funny because HL2 has dramatically worse gameplay than HL1.

I didn't get good again until Ep2

edit: woops dubblepost

sorry mods

Honestly it's pretty shameful that Valve just didn't bother making Episode 3, especially when it's essentially just 3-4 hour DLC.

That stupid cliffhanger is really the primary reason I want a sequel...Or episode 3, or a comic epilogue or something.

Wouldn't even care that much if it wasn't so clearly left unfinished/unresolved.

Yeah, Half-Life 2. Still one of my favorite FPS till today. I'll draw a comic one day, with a proper ending, to set every trapped soul on gaf free.
