Felyne Fighters

They say man's best friend is a dog but thats not true in the world of Monster Hunter!!! Who wants a dog when you can have a felyne that cooks for you and actually fight alongside with you!!!

i3z0qd.jpg

There are 3 types of Felyne Fighters: (Thank you Kayin9988 of SoC)

1. Attacker type. Very brave, able to guard, can also use demon flute during battle
2. Bomber type. As the name says, it will throw bombs like crazy at monsters, can not use flute, great for range fight.
3. All Purpose type. Can do both attack and bombing, able to use demon flute and armor flute. But not very brave in battle, like to pick on small monsters rather than boss monsters.

The weapons these Felynes use also have elements being it elemental or status.

Felyne system

28ltips.jpg

Each Felyne Fighter has its own status such as attack and defense, you can check these status as soon as you go to hire one. By taking Felyne Fighter with you in battle, it can also build up its status to grow much stronger!

Depending on the heart level, the more hearts you have, the more Feylne Fighter will like you as a master. In high heart level, they will attack, defense and cover you more frequently. Their personality is also a big factor for how they will behave in real battle.

Even though Felyne Fighter can do both attacking and supporting, but some felynes tend to like more attacking, this is also shown in their status screen.

25uqivd.jpg

Other than guild point and farm point, you will also earn Felyne Point after each quest. And these felyne point are used to give your felyne fighters more skill. As shown in the screen shots above, we know there is Hunting Horn skill, Demondrug Skill, Armorskin Skill, Antidote skill and Recovery Skill.

205zd6v.jpg

Each Felyne can only learn 3 skills at max. You can choose which one they need to forget in order to learn a new one, and the skill they forget will be returned as half of the original Felyne Point to you, so there is nothing big to lose when you switch Felyne Fighter skill around.

There are many Felyne Fighter skill to come, such as Guard Up, Elemental Attack (Fire), Elemental Attack (Water), Elemental Attack (Ice), Elemental Attack (Thunder)

Sounds great eh?But it's only available to elder quest only. :(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bow - White coating which increases damage for arrow melee.

So I'm guessing this is an import title..Was it Error that was telling me to buy this? Or was that someone else..

Might be my first import? Sounds really great.

Not too fond of the graphics though :S Does it look better in motion?

The pics doesn't really do the game justice in the graphics department but they are amazing for a PSP game, jaw dropping landscape.

As for translations, I will update OP later with more links,I see whether I can get Radd's compilation guide first.

I'm not switching over if there's no english version. I don't feel like buying a japanese version and using a fan-translated patched iso. I waited for the europe release of Freedom 2, I'll wait for a europe release of 2G, or I simply won't play D:

If you're talking about Zeal of Soul's Translation patch then don't bother with it or anybody english patch,it's way too crappy. Have fun playing online MHF2 alone while the rest of us are playing MHP2G online.

That would depend on how big the size "the rest of us" is. I doubt many existing MHF2 players in GAF would switch to MHP2G at all.

Not at all!! I will provide website for translations for items, skills and monsters. For the first few hours you will be comparing the kanji but after a few days you will be able to recognized the kanji easily and able to play the game with no trouble at all.

I've been finishing up all of my weapons that have yet to be upgraded in preperation of the switchover. I don't advise anyone to make too many S or U class sets if they plan on migrating soon, as these are going to be superceded by a new armor class level.(Z and X)

As for the Japanese, the game's vocabulary is pretty limited. There's no actual story, and words used for materials are iterated over and over. Skull, claw, wing etc... I can imagine adjusting in no time!

You should also point out in the OP, the Japanese version is uncensored, its a much more bloody affair! Also maybe mention Laboko? I can't confirm though until I have the game in my hands.

I have it pre-ordered at my local Tsutaya. They are giving the best price around at just under 4,000 yen. They are already pre-ordered out so I'm glad I snagged that deal when I did. I'll be on vacation in Taiwan when it hits shelves but I'll be so all about it when I get back.

I can read Japanese so if anyone needs some help playing the game I can contribute as well.:D

Defuser, do you think it will be possibly to somehow convert a Freedom 2 (europe) save file to Portable 2G?

If this comes out in NA I would buy it in a second.

Actually, if I could get a good deal on that limited edition PSP pack, I would buy it right now :lol

geez,I wish you guys would stop talking about a NA version. The Kanji vocab in the JP version is limited therefore it's no problem playing around.

I know none of you care...

I hate this damn game series. I've been sucked in twice. US PS2 and US PSP Sequel.

Am I missing something? (And no, I don't want a "Yes" reply. Give me damn reasons why this game is actually good)

I'm so fucking hyped, sucks I gotta wait a week for my order to come in from overseas but whatev, the single greatest portable game (maybe next to Tetris) gets an expansion.

Well, just like all the other games out there, either you like them or you don't. It depends on your own personal preference and that does not make a game good or bad. You shouldn't even be asking this question if this isn't what you prefer, or if you feel that strongly about it.

i know how you feel. like i've said before, i bought mhf2 near launch, based on the fact that my buddy was hopelessly addicted to mh on the ps2. his talk rubbed off, and i was curious what it was all about. so i bought it. i played it. i did all the training missions for each weapon. i got overwhelmed, couldn't remember how any of them worked by the time i'd done all 11 weapons. then i tried to do the first guildhall quest, thinking those were the only quests, and got my ass kicked by a giadrome. the camera was terrible, the controls were sluggish, the hit detection is very cheesy, the whole game is about not getting stuck in your animations at the wrong time, and i was just like "this game is a POS".

then someone told me about the elder missions being easier, so i was like, well i payed 40 bucks, ill try again. got a little further. i wasn't really upgrading my gear or weapons. i got the the fight for congalala. i rushed him in crappy gear and got owned. i wanted to throw my psp against the wall. said fuck this game and put it away for 6 months.

however, i still felt like i was missing something. i really wanted to like the game. the monster hunter 2 thread here reawakened my drive, and i threw it back in about 3 weeks ago. this time i brought lots of medicine, i got a decent long sword and set of armor, i practiced with one weapon so i was comfortable with it, and i attempted congalala again. i was more patient this time, getting to know his patterns. it was an epic battle that lasted over 30 minutes. toward the end i was exasperated, but when i saw him start limping away i got blood thirsty. i followed him to his cave where i found him sleeping, resting from his wounds. i attacked, he started fighting back. why wouldn't he die? finally i slashed into him once more, and he flailed, throwing his arms up and screaming in the throes of death, victory flashing across my screen... VICTORY!

ok that was pretty gay, but seriously conga and yian kut ku are the first real epic battles in this game, and after beating conga, i was hooked. it really was a rush. the battles only get better, well most at least. a lot of the 4 player battles ive had against these huge wyverns were just awesome. the game does a really good job at making you feel like you just might barely have a chance fighting this giant beast as ridiculous as it seems going up against something 20 times your size.

i don't know how far you got into your previous games, but i was at over 10 hours when i first got to congalala and quit. if you can rent the game or something, at least try to beat both conga and yian kut ku in the elder 2 star quests. if you beat them and the game still hasn't grabbed you, then its probably just not for you. if you quit before beating them, you haven't seen what the game has to offer.

I would like to add, I've tested out Laboko and it works.

Laboko allows you to do several things with your saves, most important of all, to convert your EUR or US savegame to a JPN savegame.

This is probably important to anyone who wants to import MHP2G and has an old save file from MHF2. PM me your requests, and I'll be glad to help.

I can confirm this works as spinDoc transfered my US save to JPN.

Yes,it's damn worth it. Sporsk and Dragona approved!! But be warned....learning curve is very steep.

You don't need kanji to play this game since it's vocab is limited for this game making it easier to play.

You can import it since this game is released for japan in 2 days time......

It's more a matter of 'can I find a damn copy in any of the stores near me'. I might have to go to Osaka to get a copy.

Yeah I plan to get this but didn't preorder. I might just get it a week or so late since my local stores are probably going to sell out.

I have to ask this, and keep in mind I have never played a MH game. (I might remedy that soon)

Why is this series so attractive to the Japanese? I know that local multiplayer is a huge plus for the game, but is there another reason?
