The quote you posted and other bits, such as the "AR? VR? Nah, we will leapfrog them and go to the next stage of evolution, non wearable", kind of give the impression of quite arrogant and self obsessed Nintendo management...
"Investing in a network infrastructure (replace it with shaders and HD graphics) and figure out its problems like our competitors are doing? Nah, we will leapfrog them once online gaming is proven viable in the future..." --> Nintendo shows up late, unprepared, and seems to have learned nothing from their competitors' struggles.
