What was capcom thinking ? :lol

Just so you know, RE4 pretty much bombed in all the other territories. And that's on top of that idiot from Capcom announcing the RE4 port before it was released.

and more than half of that number came from a new release game on a system with like 75% of the console market.

well, if you claim that's a tie, so be it :lol :lol

RE4 for PS2 did suprisingly well in Japan. Still a failure so far worldwide though (selling less in two territories then RE4 GC sold in the US alone) at this point anyway, perhaps Europe can save the game (though RE4 GC sold 360,000 in Europe on launch so..).

Another really good week, hardware will skyrocket in the next weeks ^^

Slime Mori Mori is a bit disappointing, let's see if it has legs.

Looking back to 2001, Smash Bros Melee launched the same week as Animal Crossing and did the following numbers:

Code:
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	26/11/01	354,750	354,750
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	03/12/01	62,750	417,500
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	10/12/01	54,000	471,500
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	17/12/01	81,750	553,250
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	24/12/01	151,250	704,500
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	31/12/01	119,000	823,500
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	07/01/02	112,750	936,250
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	14/01/02	25,750	962,000
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	21/01/02	20,000	982,000
Super Smash Bros Melee	GC	Nintendo	28/01/02	13,750	995,750

Source here (Everything and Nothing)

On it's way to 1.3m

Animal Crossing has actually had an even better start according to the same source (378k, the best non-Pokemon start since Zelda: Majora's Mask in 2000 I think- 393k- source ) and I think it'll actually do even better numbers over the holiday period (three weeks around 15th Dec - 5th Jan) and will hold well into the new year as well.

This is mainly due to the fact that the GC had a userbase of around 500k when Smash Bros came out (hence the huge drop-off to 63k in week 2) and sold about in-line with Smash Bros over the holiday period (about 1.4m by the end 28th Jan so a very very high attach ratio for the game- you can't really expect it to have sold any better).

The DS on the other hand has already sold about 4 million and probably more like 5 by the end of the holiday period so I don't think we'll see such a huge drop-off to 26k like Smash Bros did week ending 14th Jan.

Of course Mario Kart may have an effect (or more likely AC will have an effect on MK), but 1.5m for Animal Crossing total in Japan is not out of the question, and neither is 1.2-1.3m for Brain Training and 1.1m for Brain Training Gentle and Nintendogs at their current pace, so four million sellers in just over a year, and Mario Kart, Wario Ware, Super Mario 64 and Brain Training 2 all closing in...

To put into perspective, GC had one million seller:

Smash Bros Melee 1.33m

GBA had four:

Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire 5.5m
Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green 2.8m
Pokemon Emerald 1.7m
Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros 1.15m

Nice to see Resident Evil 4 get off to a good start in the build-up to Christmas, it's by far my favourite game on the Gamecube. Here's hoping it does better in the US.

And where did that BS 70K number come from?!

Well Nintendogs and Brain Training are already confirmed. Animal Crossing is a cert, and Brain Training Gentle will sail past in the next month.

All "non-games" as well :)

That's some PS2 like domination right there... insane.

I have to stop and think that the Revolution really has a chance to sell neck and neck with the PS3... but their different kinds of markets so I'm not sure. One thing is certain, Japan is in love with the DS.

Well, I can't speak for the others but, no I didn't. I was speaking from a marketshare standpoint in software sales.

Take away the 234,917 for RE4 and you get 53k for PS2.

This is obviously based on the top 20 games shown there, so not the best comparison as the 20th place game is still doing 16k, but there are a lot more DS games just below that as well.

There's a lot of PSP games outside of top 20 you know...and MH is the only game in the top 20.

Ratio (according to the Top 20 softwares)
PSP 118,317 12%

Yeah I mentioned that above, although to be honest there's not an AWFUL lot more on PSP outside the top 20, from Dengeki top 50:

24 Brain Training ~13k
32 Everybody's Golf Portable (the Best) ~10k
34 Talkman ~9k
44 Harvest Moon ~6k

Another 38k, call it maybe another 60k or so with other games as well, still only 180k total software with 90k hardware sold?

DS must be about 600-700k on 170k hardware.

Boy, Mario Party 7's sales have *seriously* fallen off. I know it usually has solid legs and bounces back (should sell until late January), but that's a disappointment for Nintendo to be sure. I wonder if they'll try a DS version of it'? The GBA version didnt do anything spectacular in terms of sales (or reviews), but the stylus and mic + online could be neat for a DS version.

Those DS and PSP numbers are fantastic, normally it's around Dec 15 before we see an upswing in numbers. Judging by the low numbers of the other machines I'd say the increase is more to do with games booasting the hardware, namely AC and MHP. Great to see.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.

Hey, it fits the 4 player model...

However, getting 4 people to stay connected for like, an hour or more... yeaaa, so not gonna happen.

something I forget to mention
the hardware sales numbers are credible
but I am not sure the numbers are depended on which chart figure that guy provides
there may be some difference when you see the media create numbers later today
