Anyone pick up Otona no DS Golf? It looked quite good from the videos at the website.

It sure is fun. Perhaps the only complaint is that the touch-controls are too intuitive, strange as that may sound: you'll be swinging like a master in no time, and won't really need to improve further to beat the later courses. Still, if you like golf-games, it's certainly worth a look.

I would have bought Black Monday if they were handing out those cheap flak jackets with preorders... but no, just 5 of them were being given away... lamers

;(

No wonder Nintendo milks Mario Party.....
We've had people say this EVERY year over the last four iterations. Come up with something else. And explain to me how it is milking? Please.

How is it *not* milking? What counts as milking to you? Can you given an example?

more to the point, is milking even bad? If I like something, I want to see more of it. I'd be playing halo 5 or monkey ball 8 if it was out now. Milk that shit nintendo. Milk it good.

Yup. FF XII, DQ VIII, Megaman 865, Y-Gi-Oh, the list goes on. Keep up the revenue bringers to fund the niche titles. kthx.

What is milking then? Yes there are new mini-games every game, but are they completely different from all other mini-games in the series? No they aren't, which is why people point to sports games as milking. There's one every year, and there's new features perhaps a few changes to pace/statistics/moves whatever but is it still just like the past games? Yes they are. I'm guessing you like Mario Party which is fine, but it doesn't mean it's not being milked.

This is the wrong battle. The fundamental game is virtually unchanged with each iteration. The minigames have gotten to the point where their variation is more of a playlist than anything truly unique anymore. It's a popular franchise that a certain group of people have chosen is worth buying every year. Just like Madden.

Do what works. If it's milking the same old thing, then hey. You know. Do that.

Like Treasure recently said, it's the titles that brand you as a sell-out that fund the niche games we all view as masterpieces.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand (sorry about bringing up Mario Party), how did Live do last year? I'm interested to see if Japan is embracing a new sport.

Exactly.

I wonder how many people on these boards would hate on these yearly games that make the companies tons of money if their favorite niche titles were cut because they didn't have the money to fund them.

You people do have the option of not playing games that you don't like you know.

Never forget! I'm Dumb!
It caters to the braintraining demographic, and golf games sell well in Japan. Check the psp hot shots golf numbers.

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
Mina No Golf is a big seller on the PSP in Japan. Deservedly so, it's brilliant and I'm afraid this DS golf game is just okay.

WTF! That was a really good weekend for Nintendo (and especially the DS) - it will be hilarious when Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart etc. launch :D

PSP could still make a bit of a comeback next week(even if it is up against pokemon).

"Talkman" could be a big non-game and not forgetting that pretty much all of the PSP's decent games are getting a budget half price re-release which is bound to push a few titles back up the charts.
